Funchy: Here in north east Iowa the timbered aerias within 30 miles of a major employment city are getting scarce. Some of these aerias that were considered almost worthless 30 yrs. ago after the loggers cleaned out all the good virgin timber now are full of 5 - 10 acre lots with half million dollar homes on them. I know this isn't what you are after, so to find a large enough secluded farm in the midwest you'll have to get away from major citys. We consider 75 to 100,000 a major city, but I realize that on the east and west coast they would be considered a small town. The hometown I grew up next to had 500 people. Frank.

Jonesiera; Check with Deere they have a mirror kit for the 43-4410 series, and likely have one for the 4110 too. I don't remember the cost, but it was'nt too bad. You get new grab handles for the fenders and a mirror for each side that fastens to the new handle. My old neck doesn't swivel quite as good as it did 30 yrs. ago so I really would miss not having them. Best of luck. Frank.

My scv for the dump circuit will no longer return to center on it's own . by looking at a break down on the control valve there seems to be around 31 pieces. springs, balls,bushings, seals and what have you. the dump still works just won't return to center and feels like maybe one of the springs might broke as it a bit crunchy when moved. Does anyone know if there are sold as kit rebuilds or can you get buy just a few pieces? the dump seemed to slow some before it started sticking , I'm guessing the spool was not allowed to move into full open position.

For me, it was kind of moot- I was pouring 1.5" of gypsum based concrete over it anyway... The OSB seems to be doing great. With the concrete there, it makes for a VERY solid floor. I'd be surprised if it ever squeaked.

The route I would have gone, had I to do over again (and found this product before I did my engineering work) is a product called speedfloor. Steel trusses are set in pockets in yor foundation, grouted in, on 4' centers. Lock bars are installed between the trusses, and OSB/plywood is layed down between the trusses. 4" of concrete is poured, cured, and then the lock bars are knocked out, OSB falls down, and you have NO wood in your floor. :)

With wood being the quality it is these days, I tried to use engineered wood products everwhere I could - My LVL ledgers are a lot stronger than 2x12, and don't warp/twist themselves to pieces after I install them.

Only my interior wall partitions/framing were "regular" lumber, and I had to replace nearly 20 studs because they would twist/warp as we were installing mechanicals. It was enough of a pain (and around here, at nearly $4 a stud, expensive) enough that I'm designing the barn/shop I'm going to build this summer without any wood, except the T*G Pine I'm putting inside the barn walls. Does anybody else find the same problems with the lumber in their area now-a-days?

Of course, a whole new thread would be the new pressure treated wood. Not only will it twist and split itself apart, it will eat your nails doing it! :)

The state of california itself is icredibly beautiful, the people by and large are hard working, honest people like everywhere else in this country. But unfortunately, we are held hostage by a very pain in the ass minority who happen to be a political majority. They only represent the special interest groups in the state, and scare everyone else into believing that all this BS they do is for our good.

When we vote in a piece of legislation they disagree with, they ignore it and go to the liberal judges to have it thrown out. The state is held hostage by a bunch of utopian fascists.

They keep getting back into office, because people like my dad (now deceased), would just check everything democrat without having a clue who these people are or what they stand for. Or what the party stands for in modern times for that matter. He considered himslef a good union man who did what his union told him to.

Californians often just vote democrat because they're democrats, and they don't know anything different.

Here is one possible take on it:
Its under warranty, you paid for the warranty (indirectly). You said you hate to have to mess with it, so get the dealer to fix it. I would get his (or her) word that they will put this on the books and replace the unit when they are next in your area, and have them promise to get it done before June 13 (for example). Have fun, gosh look at that I totally lost track of time.

Enough said about the intelipanel! HOW ABOUT THIS: One of the best features is the ability to have a flat deck betwixt you and the tilt steering! Or, the really nice spring supported seat with fold down arms! Or, the quitness of the engine! Or the fine step down, step up with large handholds on each fender! Not to mention that one can move around on this tractor with no gear shift lever to knock you in the knickers! Well, that intellipanel?? It is very helpful to have the PTO rpm's when you are doing some heavy
mowing/bushoggin' or grooming. All in All this is one fine tractor!

$It's not correct to say that #1 diesel "has kerosene in it". We are getting very confused here on nomenclature. #1 diesel is simply a mixture of refinery chemicals that meets certain ASTM specs - volatility, viscosity, pour point, BTU yield, etc. As long as it meets the spec it could be 100% lizard blood. What's in it makes no difference as long as it meets the spec. Kerosene is another spec product, as is #2 diesel and as is gasoline. Every refinery is different in terms of the equipment installed and the condition it is in and every refinery must be run to suit the incoming crude. First, you vacuum distill the crude. The problem is that you generally never get enough lighter fractions for use in gasoline and other fuels just by straight distillation of the crude oil. You get too much heavy stuff, and nobody needs that much lubricating oil. Therefore there are a number of different chemical processes that you put the heavy stuff through to "crack" it and make it into lighter fractions. These fractions - whether from vacuum distillation or chemical refining - have refinery names like "naptha" and "straight run gasoline" and "light gas oil" and "heavy gas oil" and "light alkylate" and so on. These are the fractions that are blended together at the refinery to make kerosene or #1 diesel or #2 diesel to ship to customers. The blend can shift from day to day depending on where the latest shipload of crude came from and it can be a very different blend from a refinery that runs heavy Venezuelan crude versus one that runs sweet Nigerian crude. Remember - as long as it meets spec it gets shipped. In the summer you run flat out for gasoline and you still generate more diesel than you need. You can afford to meet spec on diesel with room to spare. In the winter you run for heating oil/diesel and you can sell all the diesel you can make even if it just makes spec by a whisker. Gasoline prices generally fall in the winter since you have more than need. It gets even more complicated. Rather than blend the naptha into gasoline, or kerosene or diesel you might build a plastics plant and go from naptha to polyethylene milk jugs. Or, you swap your gas oil to the refinery next door for their naptha. All this bears on what you have available to blend. Bottom line: #2 diesel fuel will vary from refinery to refinery as well as with the season and the current source of crude. If you find a supplier that you like, stick with them.$ Starting BX in Real Cold Weather
