lbrown, enjoy your warm weather! I've still got ice covering everything at my place. Not as bad as northern Iowa, but still bad enough that I'm not trying the 15 miles to town.

Supposed to get more crap today as well. Should make for a fun Monday morning drive to work. I like winter, but not the ice storms.

Hardwood, glad to know you made it around safely. It looked bad out there. I stayed it after watching my dog almost bite it on my ice covered gravel driveway. I may have to take the tractor out there today to bust up the ice. My driveway is a downhill slope. I'd like the wife to be able to stop before the road!

Looking to buy a trailer and would like to know the combined weight of a L3830 (nonloaded tires) and a LA723 loader. Also the weight of a BH90 backhoe would be helpful.

With the computer age to assist with design I would question the design of any engine for that modification. It would be a shame to find out after that you need additional cooling for the pistons which is often done by oil under pressure from the bottom. Or to find out that the head or the gasket is not build secure enough to hold the boost from the turbo. I don't mind a one time o-ring job but to have to do a new head gasket yearly or every two hundred hours I'd not consider acceptable.

A quick google search shows labor problems, wellman being a non us owned company and a whole lot of problems.

If you have a legit business get the proper info up so we can evaluate. Buying an ad would also be a desirable means.

Yeah, pretty sure. I am reading that number right off of the JD parts book drawing which somebody posted. It shows the couplings to interrupt the power line between the FEL valve PB output and the rocker shaft P input. It brings these out to some rear connections and requires a jumper betwteen them for when you aren't using the rear connections. It would only be useful for a rear implement with it's own oc/pb control valve.

I don't want to hook up that way, but want to use those connections to run to my TNT valve and then put quick disconnects on the four work lines. I might also include a third pair with PB and P also (like the JD kit), but I think I would use a ball valve to bypass it rather than require a jumper hose.

I checked out the Hydraulic Supply Company online catalog,

which carries the Aeroquip line of hydraulic quick-connects.

This catalog also has some very interesting info. It seems that the ISO standards (both Series A and B) come in several "Size" dash numbers, -04 rated 1GPM, -06 rated 6gpm, -10 rated 12 gpm, -12 rated 28 gpm, and -14 rated 50 gpm.

The catalog has many different types and sizes, but they do list a series they call "Hydraulic Farm" FD72 and FD76 (their pages 517, 518). These also have a retaining ring groove on the barrel for bulkhead mounting, which seems useful. Interestingly these are only available in -10 size (hummm...), but on this series the -10 is listed as having 16gpm flow rate. The -10 size seems like plenty of capacity for most any CUT implement, so I am not surprised that's what they use.

The Hydraulic Farm connector part numbers are as follows:

FD72-1001-08-10 Female connector, 1/2-14 Female Pipe, valved, with ring groove on barrel for bullkhead mounting.

FD76-1002-08-10 Male connector, 1/2-14 female pipe, with Buna-N seal material and poppet valve.

Also worth pointing out that the Brass and Stainless couplings that are mechanically compatible are not rated for the kind of pressures we need, some as little as 1000 psi. A word to the wise, make sure the couplers you use are rated for enough pressure for your tractor's hydraulic system. The steel ones of the appropriate size seem to be 3000 psi or better and can handle bursts up to 12000 psi.

The other Aeroquip lines that are like connectors we might run across are:

The Aeroquip 5600 Series (page 500-502), which are compatible with ISO7241/1 Series A, and which look identical to the Hydraulic Farm series.

FD45 Series which they say is ISO 7241/1 Series B compatible (page 505-506)

FD89 Series which is the flush face style, compatible with ISO 16028, and meets HTMA (Hydraulic Tool Manufacturer Association?) requirements (page 513-514). The big advantage of the flat face connectors is that they lose less fluid, and introduce less air into the system when connected and disconnected, but in a system like a tractor, air flushes out pretty well, so that is probably not too big a deal.

I am kind of leaning toward the Farm series, which appears to be like an ISO A, but I think I will check with the local rental yard and see if they know what their implements use. I'll also look at my FEL, but that's not really a big factor, I can't see that I would ever want to connect the FEL to the rear hydraulics or a rear implement to the FEL hydraulics, so I don't see much advantage to keeping them compatible.

Just added two 55 watt 3x5 floods to my folding rops sides!

Used a relay and a switch directly to the or I should say battery at the + post on the starter!!

This leaves your oem electrical system unchanged!

When running a diesel out of fuel or when changing the filter air gets in the fuel system & must be bled. On most Japanese tractors there are bleed screws on the fuel filter assembly & the injector pump. Start at the fuel tank & work towards the injector pump.. Crack open each screw enough for fuel to come out . Close when no more air bubbles appear. On many tractors these are 10mm hex heads with Phillips slots. On some newer models there are plungers to push instead of screws. Once these points have been bled the tractor is ready to start.

I am adding a control valve that will have seven ports, four work ports (for two double acting cylinders) and three system ports, the power in (P), power beyond (PB), and return to tank (T).

A couple JD techs have shown me where the hard line is that you remove to get between the FEL controller PB, and the 3pt rocker shaft P. Basically I need to plumb from the FEL PB to the new valve's P, and from the new valve's PB to the rocker shaft P.

That's all pretty clear, but I haven't identified where the return to tank (T) line needs to tee in. There should be a T line from the FEL and probably another from the rocker shaft, but I haven't spent enough time looking at the tractor to figure that out yet.

Was supposed to take delivery yesterday, but dealer prep got delayed, should get it next week. I've "visited" it in the shop a couple of times in the last week. ;-)

The nomenclature for the "Grand L" series, currently being sold by Kubota has nothing to do with the nomenclature for the B or BX series. All the current Grand L series machines end in 30: L3130, L3430, L3830, etc. The first 2 digits relate to the tractor's gross engine hp. The last Grand L series, which was replaced by the current "30" series was the "10" series (L3010, L3410, L3710, etc). Before that it was the "50" series. During all those periods there were "00" tractors (L2600, L3300, L4300, etc) that were 25% or more cheaper that the similar sized Grand equivalents.

RE the starter key coming out with the engine on, I mean that the switch is turned off first.

I bought Pat's quick hitch system,works great,cost around
$200. The only draw back is that it extends your lower
arms 3 to 4 inches. My top link is hydralic so hooking that up is no problem.

Joe, I have about 80 hours so far. been a good unit so far. A little rough on finish but runs great. I have 8K in a 22HP 4WD with a Koyker FEL w/5' bucket and single lever/float. Done every type work I'll ever use for.
Haven't had to do any repairs but its a dang easy thing to work on. Like working on a 57 Chevy.

I did purchase the mower and it runs great! So far we only used it on some overgrown fields with heavy grasses, no saplings. And, it looks great too. for $50 the guy who was selling it completely repainted it for me.

I see this complaint frequently and on other sites as well and have now converted or at least helped a few with what I know about the RTV900!<br>

1.It does take a different driving technique to benefit from the power it is capable of delivering!<br>

2.It is important to realizes that it is a recreational vehicle and as such disqualifies itself from performing like an M60 Tank, C130 Transport or a Humvee for that matter!<br>

3.All kidding aside, it is a substantially made machine and as long as you can use it within it's limitations (very few in my opinion and power isn't one of them)!

Thanks for the input, I checked out the website and it did have the one you spoke about. Although no pictures were available. Not sure of who else manufactures the enclosures, seen one out there from Curtis also. In any event, mister frozen face here will be purchasing something by next week, or my ears and nose may come off and bounce on the driveway otherwise. Suspect I will probably be leaning toward one of more nicer units. I say that now, before the real boss in the house knows about it....lol
