a few models of big deere's ago they tried to sell the idea of caster to the farming community. In there infinite wisdom and lack of frame clearence they added a lot of caster to the front wheels of there tractors so when they turned to the steering stops the tires actually laid on there sides. This was done so the tires would not hit the frame rails on there tractors and still allow them to turn 50 degrees to keep with the competition. Many farmers disliked this as it rutted meadows and stones often cut the sidewalls of the tires. Question is are they back at it again?

with a kubota backhoe you should never have to worry about your warrantee being vioded if something does happen during your three years of chassis warrantee. Woods would not pay a dime.

Good question! Sometimes it requires splicing together a couple of sets of old car chains. The advantage is that car chains are made to have this done to them with hand tools and common parts....whereas tractor chains are not so easy.
Around here tire chains used to be common items. Car and truck had a set. Then 4wd got popular and now used automotive chains are cheap to free. I just buy a few sets, get a couple of pairs of pliers, plus some splicing links at the hardware store, jack up the rear of the tractor, and mix and match parts until the chains fit like second skins. In a couple of hours I've got them done. This used to be a common automotive experience for anyone living in cold climates. Chains usually needed to be fitted to a particular car tire. Rarely if ever did a set fit properly "out of the box". If one tried to use a set that was even slightly too loose, they would eat up the tire in short order on the highway.....and I'm keeping them on the tractor for the winter season! So what I am doing is just extending the automotive knowledge to the turf tires.
BTW, the small chains for the new small diameter imported car tires work great for chains on the front turf tires on compact tractor tractors. I made up a little set of these for the Yanmar and although dinky, they turn the front turfs into real snow-eaters..................Roger

Hi all. As another satisfied cub owner, I feel I should stick up for the brand a little. I have a 7265 (26HP Hydro) with cub loader and a cheap brushhog, and soon a 5' snowblower. It came with turfs. It's a 4wd and has worked great for clearing, field mowing, and stump and log pulling. The engine is a mitsubishi, and runs great. The controls are nice. It doesn't scuff my turf. It doesn't smoke. The roll hoop folds with no tools. Ok, I admit i have to open the hood to check the oil. I can live with that.

I have a New Holland TC33D with the super steer & 4WD option which now has about 65 hours on it. For the last 5 hours I have intermittent noises coming from the front wheel drive 'Auto' and 'Manual' selection gearbox. This gear box sits just behind the front axle. The noise is a very harsh skreching noise when moving ahead or backward. This noise would disappear after about 5 minutes of use. Today I was usiing it to pull a trailer load of wood and this noise would come and go at slow speed and it would do the same at road speed(this problem does not seem to be load sensitive). This noise is like a bearing running dry of oil. Oil level is okay. I have talked to the dealer and he is going pick up the tractor to check it out. Has anyone else experienced this and how was it fixed? <br> Hans

It really isn't too hard to make one. I bought the cylinder (2"), both link ends and the hoses at Central Tractor for less than $100. Then had to get the two male hydraulic ends from Deere. You can take the plate off of one end of the cylinder to weld the link end onto it, so you don't have to worry about damaging the packing. But on the rod end, you must wrap several wet rags around it to prevent damaging the seals/packing while you weld. Then, just paint Green :-)

Does this pertain to only turf tires? I get scuffing with R4s, but thought it was the tires, not the 4400. My 4400 is only two months old. Thanks

Russ after speaking to my dealer in S.C. I was told that tractors built after December would have the new axles, and axle to fix past tractor would be ready in January. I was also told that there was another fix for a similar problem, to agressive gearing for the differential in 4WD, and thats not whats wrong with mine. Mine tears the lawn in 2WD, its sounds like you have the same problem. Hope this helps, you may want to call your dealer and tell him what you have heard on this board.

What are the best tires for very muddy soft boggy ground? The less it gets torn up the firmer it will stay. Will I need to switch for winter snow removal?

Which transmission do you have, collar or sync reverser. I have a collar shift and I must wait at least 3 seconds when shifting into gear. I thought this was normal but you are implying there is a fix for this??? More info is appreciated!

try titan tire.they have an 800 # on there web site.i called it when i changed from turf to r4.to get spec info. i am not sure of your reason to go smaller but i can tell you it will ride rougher

Rick... Sorry for the late reply! I tried to post a couple of times earlier, but never got thru... I just bought a TC29D from Wichita Ford Tractor. I live about an hour north of Wichita. No big problems, but a couple of the pre-delivery check items had not been done. When I complained, the salesman apologized profusely, picked up the tractor, re-did the stuff, and delivered it in 3 days... all on their nickel. I'm satisfied with that. Otherwise, I'm enjoying it! Didn't check on a 33; I paid $14,068 for my TD29D w/o supersteer.
