Do some research. Find the weight of a loaded manure spreader and the weight of a hay bale and base your tractor selection on those numbers.

You can buy a small manure spreader but you may only be able to get large bales of hay in your locale. The tractor should outweigh the hay bale you are going to haul by a significant margin

I used to own a service station in Manchester NH. Around November 1 the distributor always called and asked how much diesel was left in my 6000 gallon storage tank. He then delivered kerosene to cut with the existing diesel to make pseudo winter blend. All regular deliveries after that were actual winter blend. Mix ratio was 2 parts summer blend to 1 part kero.

I now buy all my off road from Ciardelli's in Milford. Their off road is premium diesel and should be winter blend by now.

Check out the TractorSmart website under the accessories for your model. They have the rear remote kits for most Kubota models listed. I know for my tractor the kit alone was about $850 for two rear remotes. Not sure about dealer installation costs. Top and Tilt cylinders are about $200 ea.

I built my own remote kit and cylinders from purchased parts for less than half what the kit costs.

Planted three Black Walnut saplings (5'-8' tall) this Sunday with the aid of my BX1500. No backhoe... I used a rear blade tilted up at an angle and ripped a "gash" into the ground for each tree. Then, I lashed the root ball to the blade, lifted it out of the trailer and lowered it into the hole. Finally, I reversed the blade and pushed all the dirt back in. Hardly broke a sweat! I love that little machine like a brother.

Ben, I have the 7800 and think it's a great machine. The only shortfall is the lack of position control on the 3pt. After some time with it, I have gotten used to the 1/4" valve, but would certainly prefer position control. The 7610 has the same 1/4" valve as the 7800, so no difference there. I turned 82 hrs this weekend,, and haven't come across much it couldn't do. Drilled holes for 1100 feet of fence, moved 250 yards of fill, keep a 800 foot drive and 1/4 mile road graded and cleared of snow, mow,...about everything.

I was at the dealer closing the deal on a 2410 when the wife started asking about the 7800. She's the one that decided for price difference, it would be better to get the 7800. God I love that women. The four cylinder engine and 3-range hydro make it really comfortable with many implements.

I have added several 2910 parts to my 7800 as you can see from my pics. They are pretty interchageable, with a little tweeking required.

Great machine, no regrets.

Have you tried the emergency brake?
I too have had problems on hills where it won't want to shift. Pull the emergency brake and then it "should" allow it to be taken out of (and into the next) gear without any tugging.

Well Gents, many thanks for all the good information. Actually the dealer is "throwing in" a canopy, rear SVC, rear work lights, auto cruise, speed and load match, and loaded tires. The little lady loves the tractor work, but has been VERY unhappy with the Power Reverser. 'Nough said. Have told him to order it...should take about a month. Guess I'll go ahead and buy myself a new shovel. Thanks again!

I would echo all the comments above, especially mowhoward that a temp meter would be nice and I'm working on installing one now. In terms of ability and for it's size, the 2210 is one best bangs for the dollar. I have yet to be disappointed in my 2210 and it will be 2-years old this Jan.

I am sure that any Deere product has significant hours of testing behind it but I am never comfortable buying the first year of any product. There will most likely be issues that expose themselves once the units are out in the field where the real world testing begins. This is where having a strong dealer who will go the extra mile for you service wise could make the difference. I am lucky enough to have the best of both worlds... a 4710 that has run like a top from day one and a dealer who I know from past experience would do what ever it took to make any problem right.

Good luck with what ever unit you go with... my vote... go with the best dealer, not just the best price. The quality of the dealers service is remembered long after the price is forgotten.

We keep right on with the turf construction & maintenance, we just travel much farther south to do it. LOL.

We also do a LOT of snow removal, and now firewood as well.

I'm also debating a few other things, greenhouses, etc.

Thanks, I am going to try it. I have another shed planned for next year that I would love to have options to use on the floor. Any organic material in the soil does create heat as it decays. I've though about adding organics to the soil under a floor to create heat during the winter, but have never tried it.

Sometimes being an engineer can be a handicap if you don't listen to practical solutions. I'm not too to old (yet) to listen. Just don't tell my wife. She thinks I'm just a brick headed Italian who happens to be an engineer.

Gasoline is not what I believe he said but Kerosene! Gas will not assist at all but hinder the way a diesel runs.

Daveknowshow: I don't remember the exact width of my buckets for my Deere #48 hoe, but the only one I really ever use is I think an 18 inch. I do have a real narrow bucket I think around 9 or 10 inches, but it just won't work very well in our heavy clay subsoils, it won't clean when you dump it. I bought the #48 because at the time I had a 4300 tractor, now it's on my 4310. It seems to be big enough for 95% of my needs, but for the real big stuff I hire a big machine. I looked at used regular size hoes at the time, but 25-30,000 was kinda bare minimum to get something that wasn't wore out, so all in all I'm glad to have the #48. Frank.

Tom if it is like t5he rest it is about 400 dollars and a lot of time to put in like about two or three days depending on if the tractor has a cab as they have to be split and the transmission disassembled to add the gears.
