Missed on lime being to much work for a larger lawn, it should not be much more than applying fertilizer. I assume you use a spreader for the fertilizer and most likely it will work for the lime. You can get lime in different forms such as pellet easy to spread and not very dusty or the farm type lime which can be dusty. If you have a few acres of lawn and need to apply say two tons an acres go to where he farmers buy, the true ag fertilizer and chemical seller and ask in them spreading it. If you have that large a lawn you might benefit by having them also spread your fertilizer for often the cost for the fertilizer and the spread is less than the big box store is for the fertilizer. Also don't' miss the micro nutrients..
Word of caution, a load spreader is heavy...be sure it will not crush anything in your area to be spread. Often they are spreading such a wide area they can avoid an area if marked for them.

Get the soil sample, follow it and get your mower ready...well maybe...can only help a crop grow, will not make one magically appear. lol

Had planned to burn at least two of my piles of cut trees that are about 15 feet tall. However the just over 4 inches of rain Friday afternoon and over the night shall I say washed that out. Needed to mow the road ditch but same rain stopped that.

So I got to prove to my wife it only takes two months or is it three to get the front porch post wrapped. Well all but one, had a aluminum wrap that was bent.

Reading this brought back some memories that have been brought back to life in last few days. The damage that Hurricane Matthew brought showed itself again today as found a leak in my mother in laws house from damage to the roof from then. Twisted the loader on my tractor removing tree off that roof and replaced with upgraded loader. Have that tractor for sale, think sold it yesterday. As to the hay, decided last year I was old enough to retire from farming with the need to invest about $100,000 in barn and some hay equipment to remain in the hay business. That is reason the tractor was for sale.

Had to hire the washing of our house...too busy and has not slowed up yet. Hope you got all your task done

rfkuka,I loaned my Kubota B2610 to my brother and when I picked it up had problem with the mid pto lever not lining up properly. Not enough to be in gear but just a slight amount of pressure on the lever solved it. Thought when you get it home fix and on the way home thought leave it alone...a person who does not know about it will have to hunt and peck to start the tractor...has worked well.

Each of your helped me more than once and in many ways. Dennis never easy to tell a loved on bye and I found this weekend recalling those in my family I have lost. My dad at 16 my Mom 2006 at 87. One sister in 2004 and another in 2015.

With out a doubt God allowed me to find TP, have found dependable friends here over the years and dependable advice. Even the suck it up answers as needed. lol

One who has not posted here I learned to respect is a man of few words but to the point (Murf he must not be Irish) is Art. Sure wish he was dealer in my part of the world.

I am reading this having the impression you have not had it long. OK the fluid is full.<br>

I am assuming you just pulled the dip stick or sight gauge on knowing the fluid is full. <br>

If that is all you did it may be full but could have issue with clogged filter or filters or even contaminated hyd oil. <br>

If you are not sure the fluid and filters have been changed recently like last 100 hours or run time change it to begin with. Would say do the same with the engine oil and all filters, air and fuel.<br>

Find out if there is a screen in the tank that needs to be cleaned also. A dealer ship should be willing to tell you. If you buy the filters there have no doubt they will. Matter of fact if you are needing to change the fluids and filters stop they and tell them what you having going on and ask them if not that any thoughts. <br>

If this is not your issue have no idea. <br>

Good memories here. Does Frank still make it to TP? We exchange letters about once a year but this year think twice. Wow things are speeding up for me.

My youngest son in law is considering leaving his current job where he writes programs for a phone company and going to an independent work. All he could say is the gross income is better.

As to people moving here from up North, neighbor who moved here from western Maryland told me this week, wow they are moving in here really fast! Yes they are. When we moved here 20 years ago a tractor or combine going by was common. Now they are rare. I feel like Daniel Boone, not enough elbow room.

Had a friend here years ago who told me the proper pattern to leveling a yard. You go in over lapping circles, well not really circles more like ovals. Got a great laugh on him. Ole Jeff passed a few years later but his advice holds.

Run in circles, ovals what ever works for your lawn with over lapping with your fine leveling equipment. Even with box blade it can help. I very much use over lapping with a rear blade.

My 16 year old grandson has learned, if your pants are on your knife is in them.

When I went to school BOYS all carried a knife. It was a must have tool, still is. At same time a gun rack in a pickup (two wheel drive pickup with factor rims and so forth) your hunting gun was safe in it and if a teacher asked about the gun they normally liked guns.

Sad how times have changed.

As to the Kershaw they make some very fine knifes. Bought an easy open one and did not understand how easy it was and how to carry it safely and that ended my toting it. Still a fine knife.

Handson, you thoughts on hurting your back...that my friend is the reason we bought the ferris as our second ztr. It has full suspension with springs and shocks and larger commercial mower size tires and oh yes a great seat. Not air ride bit my recliner is not as good.

Our Bushog which was their mid level when I last viewed their product line (not aware of a dealer for them near me any longer but pleased with that mower) basic seat, smaller tires all lead to bouncy ride if lawn is not very smooth. The Ferris run at least 50% faster than the Bushog and is much smother ride. Tire size and the pressure means probably the most to the ride. Not seen a ztr that wants the tires pumped very tight.

dogmont, as you have found out not having an over running pto can be aggravating but also dangerous. If you have not gotten the external one you need to and then be sure to check the length of your pto shafts they may need shortening. Check hem when the pto shaft is level, not with the lift up or down.

Few years back had problem with a tractor not turning over. Made no sense, it might or might not. It was due to some OLD wise people here I pulled my battery cables and looked inside the clamps. The clamps were glazed over on the side. Tried sand paper nope. Ended up buying one the terminal tool with a reamer on one end and outside tool for the post itself. That solved that problem and that had to be 8 or so years ago. Battery cables often fail but the failure is hidden from the eye until close inspection as you found out.

cutter, you have a real BEAR there! How much does it weigh? If you don't have quick attach, does that mean you have to pull the pins to remove? No doubt that is more secure,

I have one word of warning for you, WATCH OUT FOR YOURSELF. I got a new tractor and a grapple and within the first four hours or use had run a limb past the grapple ripping the screen in the grill. Part at dealer was about $355. No real to any working part which was a blessing. Had I been on a skid steering that limb would have been running right at me possibly for it may have been low enough it would have hit the machine. That happened not due to the loader working buy my driving into a pile to dump the load of limbs I am sure.

Enjoy, it is amazing what a grapple can do. Like the two lids, for odd size items no doubt it is better than a single lid. Also like the fact the points of the teeth don't line up with the lowers ones so it can get tighter on small loads.

I have my first dog in few years. Last one was really our youngest daughter's first and then my wife when she moved out on her own. He passed probably 10 or
more years ago. My current one is one not at all like I wanted but he is the RIGHT ONE, no doubt. He is about 8 months old and maybe 50 pound a mix of Austrian Sheep Dog and Blue Healer...a great mix of colors and pattern on him He is at the point he is showing his herding instincts with people. I get tickled as he does it so calmly. If our grands wander he brakes and runs after them if able. He has even taken off after my wife when she went to walk away from the group around the pond. He circled her and she came back.

However he had gotten to the point he now worries about the next door neighbors chidlrens also. If he hears them outside he must check on them and then he has learned there are those in the small subdivision across the road who need guidance...so after lots of asking and checking this week got an electric collar for training. He thought they were only shockers but learned not true and not the shock as you might think. I did try the shocking on my self and it is more of a tingle at least at the level we are at. Only one short lesson with it and it was interesting to watch him. I used the shock a little but found was getting about same response with the vibration and tone. As I heard a trainer say, all you want is their attention back to you.

My wife has said I see it now, if I were to pass he would be in the house within a week. Our oldest daughter said Daddy will put him in the will, she looked at me and said oh no, he already is. lol

Did not know adoption was up, was told the shelters has stop taking them in.

greyhorse, you would be better off to begin a new thread for your question. It would get attention over the posting in this one. I look forward to the answers on why the soot also. My only thought is does it idle or run at low rpms a lot? Is the thermometer showing it reaching normal temp or running cooler than normal?
