It sounds like not getting full power to the starter and it is spinning too slow to engage or the bendix is stuck. What has suggested might free if stuck but have you tried jumping the tractor to be sure you have enough power to really spin it?

You may find rather than battery issue or in addtion to it battery cables need cleaing. Have a Kubota that will glaze the cable where you can not see it but it sure prevents proper flow of current.

Oh, Michelin does has a very cheap line they may only sell to for new vechiles. No life at all.

If four wheel drive you need rims/tires that are made to work with each other to keep the gearing ratios right.

If your tires (turf) tires are in good condition would suggestion you try to find someone who would like to swap with you. You may find agriculture tires someone pulled off to install turf. It is my impression swaping from agriculture to turf is harder to find the turf tires sets.

But why do you need to change? Is it muddy ground traction? Or need narrower tires? If not you might find they will serve your needs fine.

Don't know your tractor so some basics here:

Did changing the fluid make any differnce?
How did the fluid look?
Did you happen to test with fingers to see if you found any foreign material in the oil?

If you don't see an external filter then it probably has a screen type you wash and reuse. Look for a large plug with bolt type head on it. It likely will drain the fluid when you remove it or a good bit of it. I would guess it to be from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter.

My guess is the two have nothing to do with each other now but may have at one time. I think your clutch is slipping and it needs adjusting. It is possible the left brake was not fully releasing and was worn out due to that while at same time wearing the clutch disk heavy and thus it slipping. Now that tie in is aomewhat a guess.

As to adjusting the clutch it is not complicated and if you have ever adjusted a clutch think you will be able to tell when right. Believe it has a clamp on the clutch road that rotates in the housing. Has been a few years since adjusted my brothers MF and it is model below yours I think. Should be same.

Fluid that looks like too much cream makes me think you have water in it. First need to find the soucre of the water (no idea on JD but being parked in rain for long time may have allowed rain into to system) change the fluid and filters. Then hope a filter was not letting the fluid pass through it do to water damage.

Yes pedals should return when you release foot pressure which would make me think JD mechanic is correct. On my Kubotas I keep spraying such points where linkage connects and enters transmission.

I would doubt they made the tractor with and without the differential lock. My guess is it either broken inside the transmission or was causing problems (either operator or mechanical) and so removed the pedal and plugged it.

But if not think you would have a fair amonnt of work and cost into installing if it really was not installed.

Three years old should had service. Who did that? (also what has been done and if no records you need to do all) If dealership they may have records.

If there is a spring missing that could be allowing the belt slack to jump off as you are having happen.

As to matched sets of belts, is it suppose to be two belts or a double belt (they do make them). My thoughts are trying to match a used belt with a new belt you will find that difficult.

I think this has sat here for so long with no reply due to there is no simple answer. To me a tractor purchase is not the same as an auto purchase, it is a longer term purchase and one that normally requires other purchases for it's use. Many of those items need to come from the brand of dealership of the tractor such as some parts and even filters. Implements may need to be brand specific for such as front end loaders but still normally any implement unless used is bought from a dealership.

My suggestion is to not worry about the best lowest price I can get the tractor for today unless that is your only concern and if so then go on line and ask for their price but met with the dealerships that are a reasonable drive of you and find the one you believe cares about their customer and who wants you to be as pleased as they are. You will know them. They will find out what your needs are, will listen to you and make recommendations based upon your wants and needs. You will find they are stocked with parts to a reasonable level and have a good service department.

No idea right off on the alternator light but have you checked all the safety switches on your tractor? I think correct on these: one under seat and yes it needs weight on it; one for range, gear shift and pto levers. Also one for clutch and it must be depressed. I have found small sticks being the way of the ones for levers. They are there for I think two reasons, law suits and real safety. My recommendation is find the fault and repair.

Not saying he is not honest but having a tractor for forty years and never needing the pto...they must have had others for spraying and mowing needs. There was a produce farmer less than 2 miles of me who had a tractor for each implement and the best I know they were left hooked all the time. Just unusual to have the luxury like that. Did I mention he went broke?

Makes sense for the price to change the filter and oil if manual calls for that. But you mention the hours, how about the time length?

However does it only this with the loader or anything else hyd but the loader might be such a big user compared to other circuits you may not notice.

some thoughts: sure water is not in the new fuel? could trash be blocking the fuel flow, check filter.
Try using Sea Foam (think have name correct) gas treatment.

Have you seen one in real life? When you say they seem short and such what are you comparing it to? They are compact maybe even subcompact machines. It really sounds like you have concerns about it being too small for your needs...you need to be certain it is sufficient.
