I don't know the name but the fittings some use can be simply pushed in and pulled out while others of the same "look" require two hands to operate with you pulling the outside sleeve on the female fitting to release the male fitting. I despise those. Here they are normally referred to as Pioneer fittings but think it is just the most popular brand. You also have to have the pressure broke or near zero for either of these. So that means cut off pump and work levers.

I read this it does not cut off but rpms drop, correct? If that is correct based upon your other points here are my thoughts and I don't know your tractor model.

The fuel pickup tube in towards the front of the tank and either the fuel is low enough or there is trash in the tank that floats over the tube when the tractor is facing up hill. Of the tube is towards the rear and there is water or gelled fuel in the tank and it covers the pickup tube. Unless due to low fuel think you have trash in the tank.

Guess if water it could be in the filter and not the tank.

There is a very slight chance they might have a decal showing the routing of the belt.

If you had always bought such equipment from the true lawnmower small engine dealer in the past and this is your first experience with the big box stores it is totally different. As one who found TP while looking for honest input before I bought a boom mower never left here. There are some very honest and helpful people here. Been that way for the few years I have been here. If you will do some searching here you will find other recent conversations on issues with mowers from the Big Box Stores and the value of good dealerships in regards to any and all equipment. I hope it works out well for you with service on the mower.

There is a lot to be said for having reunions or anytime where you are allowed to think back on how things were and even think of those who no longer there and how things have changed even as you keep pointing out so well in brands leaving our shores. A few years back a business friend told me the problem today is not change, it is the amount and the speed at which it is hitting us.

I had no problem opening the picture if I clicked on the link when it came up. Not sure if Murf has seen it but it sure looks like a flail mower to me. They must has a good shield with low discharge opening on the rear of it.

If you have the same design I have seen on a 155 I think was the model, there will be two shifters in transmission the gear shift lever fits in. When both are in neutral they line up to form basically a rectangle slot that is in full alignment with each other. That is the position you need the gears to be before reassembling the shifter.

Not sure where I might have bashed the Chinese tractors but if something I said here implied that did not mean to. What I know of them is way to limited to make any real comment on them. I do have my reason why I would not be looking to buy one and it is dealerships. If there are any dealerships within 75 miles of me not aware of them. As much as I am pleased with my Kubotas would not consider them either if no parts or dealership in reasonable range either.

If you will look in your manual it will give you the specs the fluids must meet. My Kubota manuals read something along the line: Kubota oil or fluid so and so or must meet specs so and so. Been a while but those specs are in a chart form and beleive are in the capacity section of the manual. If you don't see them just take your manual with you. Taking the manual with you may solve any further question that could come up when you get there. Call your local people with the specs and they should be able to match them. As to my Kubotas they have had either Rotella or I think Castro brand engine oil in them since first oil change if memory is correct. As to the brand oil I have stayed with major brand but just matching specs. I do use Kubota filters. On a different brand, Volvo the specs on their oil puzzled my dealer who went to great effort to be sure on the specs. Turned out to be a odd way of given the specs that he had not seen before but was a very normal hyd oil.

No idea on your transmission but some will dump the fluid rather quickly. You will do wise to know the amount in there and be ready with drain pan to handle it. On one of my Kubota's drop the hyd oil filter first and be ready for a flood.

A few years back a tractor sales man did his best to sell me on a Massey over a Case and when I finaly said ok what is the reason? You can buy the Massey parts any where. All Napa Dealerships have the engine parts. Now whether he was correct or not I don't know.
Move ahead for me to today. The tractor dealer who has done all my tractor repairs is also an auto parts store. Same building. If the part meets the specs it meets the specs. Guess the important word in there is "if" it meets the specs.

On your collector tractors assume they are gear transmission, in the same HP range would they run the same climb in high gear or would you need to drop a gear or so? If so think you need to back off on the foot pedal if not drop the Kubota a range also. My opinion and might have many to disagree with me those old farm tractors just had better torque then the smaller same hp engines.

Seeing they are an Agco company would think you should have success there. Link below to find a Zetor dealership. Have no idea if same part is available from another Agco product line. If so there is Cat and Massey being the most popular around here.

One possible issue with the change as describe, do you use any implement on the 3 pth with a person riding on it? If so the exhaust fumes can be an issue. <br>

You can also check wheel bearings after a few miles with your hand. The hubs should not be so hot you can not place and hold your hand on them. Don't think they should really be hot at all. Will say I have done this often with trailered bearings but not sure on vechile bearings.

New filters, OK was it doing this before or after new filters were installed? If before were the filters changed thinking that was the issue? If after change the fuel filter could be bad. It could be gelled fuel or trash in fuel tank moving over fuel outlet stopping fuel flow and when it sits the vacuum or suction on the trash releases the trash allowing about 15 minutes of fuel to fill system until fuel begins to flow again and just like leaves in a stream the trash is pulled back over the outlet.

If you can see in the tank look with good flashlight but the next time it stops if you have a clear filter does it have fuel or empty. If not a clear fuel filter loosen it enough to see if fuel is freely flowing.

Oh then it is possible you have a rat's or insect nest in the air intake stopping the air flow. But with the run time you mention look at fuel being stopped.

I do a fair amount of business with Lowes and was not aware they did any service support for anything. They may accept it back but as to service it thought all that was done by the Manufacture service contracts. Which to me means you have no idea who is doing it. Buying such as lawn mower from the BB stores goes so much against one of the often stated here and other places first consideration in buying a tractor...the dealership.

My wife and I were in Lowes the other night to buy part for kitchen faucet that came from there I know soon be 11 years ago. Nope they don't have that part but bring in the old you and they can match it up. Really? So show me the parts for my brand I can pick it out. Sorry we don't have parts for that brand. They still sell the brand. 100% Sure, looked on their web site just now.

As to Brand bashing I will certainly take Lowes over HD.

Think this fits here: had a brother in law who worked for our County with the trash recycling department at one time. He collected a fair supply mostly of push lawn mowers and trimmers people were throwing away for they had the simplest problem and who ever they bought it from had no service.

I have a 27 hp tractor and use a 72 inch RFM. I also have a 52 inch ZTR mower of same band using same deck design and spindles and same blade design just shorter. The ZTR leaves a better finish for the reason pointed out the weight of the tractor hits before the cutter does. Posted the speed difference earlier in your question on 4 wheel steer so will not cover that. At same time the front wheels on the ZTR do some striping. Only way I know to not have that is front deck totally supported behind the blades. How do you say scalped lawn?

Do use weights on front of tractor and it needs them.

Have used both the 62 inch RFM and flail mower on the same tractor. Really liked the flail mower the best. The "V" cutters on mine did not flatten out as EW's did and left little rows in my lawn, look like a crappy hair cut. Still cut it great and left small clippings. Again agree with EW it does not turn as easy due to gage roller, you really need to lift it for any thing in sharp turn or on the one I used. Then it was not the gage wheel damaging the lawn it was tractors front wheels sliding. The flail does cost more but to me liked it's cutting much more with the right cutters on it. It being shorter can also be an advantage unless you are backing under limbs then it is a disadvantage. The flail mower is the only cutter I am aware of that with certain model you can change the cutters (not as easy and cheap as blades) and have a fine lawn cutter to brush cutter. Again with some models, not all.

But to recommendations on RFM for you. Buy a good brand. I say stay away from such as Tractor Supply or Northern Tool brands. I have side discharge and wish it were rear so could trim with either side. It needs to be wider by some than the tire width so you can trim but if too wide you will kill your self when you hit the unmovable object. Yet being wider makes cutting over the top of ditches safer. As to the width you can use with the HP you have think 5 foot would be the max but a good bit depends on the grass you have and will have. There is a lot of difference between the grass here and there but if you are cutting a real thick lawn grass keep the width down. If a thin slow growing grass probably can go with the 5 foot model might get by with a 6 foot but would never try it. Oh be sure it has floating hitch on it and easy to adjust wheels. Most use spacers and to me that is great. Reasonable easy to set and then not so easy my wife wants to lower it.

Oh the flail mower does not kick trash out normally like a rotary mower does. Have been behind a highway mower when it ran over a tire and it looked like a sponge being squeeze as it came out. Right funny looking. Never did understand whey the guy drove over it. Oh, did I had highway mower?

If ZTR have become as propular there as here you would do well to look for a used one. Many people parked their RFM and bought ZTRs. Just ask around, ZTR dealership might be a good place to ask especially if they sell both RFM and ZTR.
