As a business owner that has nothing to do with this web site or tractors at all but who has benefited from TP often understand both sides of this issue. In my business I pay rent, utilities, insurance and salaries. Deal with the city, state and federal on laws and taxes. Just as any other brick and mortar business does. Now once in a while some non-profit will ask about placing a flyer in our window or door...depends on the details but never have said no. Of course that is community support and is free with the non-profit bearing the cost of the flyer and me the cost of the space used and I might add the cost of removal and cleaning the normally tape marks left by it. All reasonable for community support of a decent non-profit.

But I have clients/customers who are in business to make money and they support me by buying from me which allows me an income. They have a sale or special event and ask, could you place a flyer in your window or in your office? It would be hard to say no wouldn't it? Since they are normally a friend even glad to do so.

Then there is the business owner who had made promises to talk with me on products/services we offer but never has the time or who keeps forgetting the needed information but they want a flyer in my window for the special event they are working with...how do they expect me to treat them?

IN NO WAY (yes shouting) I THINK ANYONE who has posted on this tread is not a fine person and business owner. Just trying to put what a different light on the thought.

As to the cost of advertising, I have spent a few thousand that prove to be wasted, have spent some such as yellow pages that felt required but not sure they really pay their way, also have made "investment" in long term realtionship networking business groups that has proven great returns. Tommy if you believe advertising here would never be profitable you may be correct or Dennis the owner may be able to provide data that would give other thoughts. It might be the two of you could develop what would work great for you and TP. As a car dealership use to say, you just don't know until you ask.

Have you checked the fluid? I believe it used the transmission fluid. Is it hard to turn just one direction or both?

Are you running it in four wheel drive on solid surfaces like pavement? If so it binds the drive systems as the ratios are different. Think you will find most if not all four wheel drive tractors have slightly different ratios between the two axles with the front one's turning slightly faster.

Vastly overfilling the gear oil can lead to blown seals. As Auerbach pointed out the expanding the oil will not escape out the vent cap as fast as it will explain and can blow a seal. Also if vent gets clogged same thing. Been there done that.

Frank, I think your opinion about JD is very valid and think many benefit by your sharing it. It has helped me pay attention to the different JD and other brands product lines.

As Ken pointed out sadly too much of that is happening. At one time there was a reason a brand name was a brand name. As to the Maytag which I believe is owned by Whirlpool which is a much younger company. My understanding is Whirlpool plans to use the different brands such as Kitchen Aid, Maytag to be different quality level of machines. Would assume they plan to keep their brand name as top but don't trust that either. As to RCA's name and Whirlpool. when Whirlpool began or was very young anyway realize the value of name recognition and paid RCA for the right to use their name on the Whirlpool products. Now the Whirlpool is the giant and not sure there is a RCA any more.

It really can be hard to be a smart consumer today. That is one reason I find TP to be so valuable.

Bet you like the difference in steering and brakes between it and the 8N. The 8N probably road better due to the weight difference.

I could be totally wrong but don't think you can test it disconnected from the battery. Think it needs some load or demand on it. You might even get this with a light hooked up. Now I am not a pro on this but believe it to be correct.

Hope you two found much less costly problem then I did with a nice clicking sound in my Kubota transmission in a certain gear, it was only a broken tooth on a gear. The great really was not that costly...but taking the tractor apart to find which gear and then to remoe it was rather costly.

If you are getting the page where it ask you to write a review you got me. For me it brings up a page asking you to name your review then gives you options to check on a few things and the you finally get to box to write your review and think the last thing is would you recommend the site.

Of course you have to hit the submit button (don't ask how I know that so well).

You may need an expert and not an want to be.

I don't have the same model Gator you do but on ours think you could set a much larger batter in the battery area. Don't mean with the current battery but in place of. No doubt would require mount work.

I tried a flail mower on 3 pth once. As the suggestion of a friend who runs one disconnected the third arm while mowing. In mowing the yard backed the mower up the road shoulder as it was to step to run on sideways and to sharp an angle for tractor and mower where the should met yard. Very fortunate in the only damaged done to the tractor was with the mid mount PTO from the rear PTO shaft pushing due to the mower rolling up. Would the 3rd arm have prevented that if connect, not sure for it bent slightly from a rough cut mower if memory is correct on what bent it. I think a 3rd arm would help prevent some flip ups but not all.

But I no longer run any 3 pth hitch anything with out 3rd arm connected. Have seen the chain from the A frame to the rear wheel area on a nephew's RC mower but not sure if factory or later installed. As to allowing the mower to roll up would think that it would as well as if no 3rd arm or chain was used there.

Not sure if that tractor has a dip stick for the hyd oil or plugs on the rear housing for checking the hyd oil. Look it over carefully and you will find one or the other. Do lower or retract all hyd cyls before checking and with tractor off.

If you are not sure when it has had fluids changed you ought to do so to have a known point in service.

Hardwood I agree with you on the shafts. Good analogy there, you are like the old PTO shafts and Ole Jeff is like the new ones! Sorry EW.

OK had the chuckle a hard work day needed. To my TP friends thank you for all you give of yourself here to help me and others. To those who may be new reading this, you will not find a better group than here. They have helped me many times in many ways.

Jeff, will trust you on the cold pool. You have to remember the difference in temps between here and there. Our cold is your summer temp, well all but maybe July.
