Why it broke is a question I wish I knew. The shaft is drilled for grease fitting and then drilled for greased to be pumped into the center of the bushing width wise. It snapped where the two drill lines intercept (the one running the length and the one through the side). It is hard to tell due to grease but it looks like it was not all fresh. The break was middle ways in the boom at an area when there is no wear bushing only a larger diameter spacer bushing.

Bake to the breaking, guess that is one reason making one seemed to hold some value to it. The bucket on it does not exceed the machine's specs.

Hate to admit I am jumping on to EW band wagon here but want to add to his thoughts on over heating:
Are you running a proper antifreeze mix?
Is your air filter clean?
Sure there are no insect nest in the air system?
Have you tried washing out the fins on the radiator? Don't use high pressure or you can damage them. Use a good detergent.
Sure the water pump and thermostat are good?
And one of the lowest price is how is your fan belt? Even if slipping a little that can cause major loss of cooling. It normally pumps the water and drives the air so there is a load on it.
But the lowest cost one is, sure you are not over loading your tractor or using higher gear to pull load than you should?

I would check all down to the cooling system (radiator, pump or thermostat) and if it still does then get hold of a remote infrared thermometer and check the radiator for hot and cold spots in it. You might need someone to test this.

I don't know your tractor but please read back over what you have written. Either there is a mistake in that or my reading is wrong. I read that it makes make much difference and then it runs slower when shifting into 4 wheel drive as to speed.

Trying to guess here on my end: are you sure which lever you are shifting? Place your tractor with a pull load on it and get on soft dirt and you should be able to tell when the front wheels are pulling to know when you have the 4 wheel drive engaged.

You might be getting the range and 4 wheel selector confused. It is possible a decal could be wrong also.

I may have misread something you posted, per their site the edges are green but not the sheet itself. But if they are breaking they sure don't sound like they are meeting the spes they show for them.

Not sure but my quick thought is a common grade bolt which is grade 2 or 3. Then the bolt that is suppose to be used there could be partly cut to help it shear. I would spend the money on one to buy it from a NH dealership to be sure.

No idea the model of Gator we have but a two wheel gas unit. The dealer really told me I wanted the upgrade and he was right. It has bigger tires and rims I think but thread is more like mud grips for pickups than truff tires.

You should be sure what you need to remove to begin with. If you are planting a cover crop with a whirly bird and covering with a disk you may be fine as is. A landscape rake with all teeth on it will catch a lot of trash that will present little issue to such planting. Disking often helps a lot. If you are using planters you may be fine just running real slow. I would not want to plant soybeans on top of a lot of trash due to combine picking it up.

I read it the fuse is blown, so the first step would seem to be try replacing it. If it blows then trace looking for short in the wiring system.

What you mean by no print have no idea. Do you mean there is no decal giving the the size of the fuse or no wiring diagram or something else.

Jeff, you do realize many especially two wheel drive tractors come with front axles to widen them. I realize maybe the biggest reason at least on some models it to match crop rows or such. I have changed the front end on Ford, Massey, Case and Kubota that were all two wheel drive. On those tractors it did not create any extra steering leverage as the linkage was made to do so. Now if I were to just add spaces between the hubs and the rims that might.

Along that note look up the potato harvester picture Murf posted a couple of weeks back and think on those spacer and front steering whip.

Never had drive a tricycle tractor but have lawn mower, give me the wider front end. I'm with Harvey.

Makes me think of local Chevy dealership. Chevy was giving them hard time on their old building. Then the recession hit and their business held up well while there were near them on the big new shiny buildings who closed. Told me the other day Chevy likes their building now. Low overhead is hard to beat.

Do you know if there are dry brakes or wet brakes? Dry brakes are like the drum brakes on car or pickup. Wet brakes are enclosed and running in transmission oil.

I suspect they are dry brakes. If so the life of them is short and how well they work is poor. Based upon the tractors with dry brakes I have been around regardless of brand. If you have ever worked on drum brakes and you have the dry brakes you might be able to tackle these.

If you just got this machine you probably would do well to search Gator here and read many of the threads on the Gator. I (excuse me, my wife) have a Gator and it is to me interesting in it's quirks.

Frank, on the people who stayed with Ford and then NH..have a neighbor who used his smaller Fords and would run them and run them while many others were in second and third tractor. He ran smaller tractors and equipment than most if not all other full time farmers. One of the most respected and hailed in my part of the state could not understand how he could buy what he did and pay cash.

Funny thing, he basically retired due to health and then bought the new larger NH with cab and air. Admitted his timing was off on that.
