My father has a Kubota L3400 2006 with 350 hrs, and a couple of days ago it just seemed to smother down after about 45 minutes while bush hogging. He is running agricultural fuel. He changed the fuel filter and and tried again today, it only ran for about 2000' feet then choked down. We do not have alot of diesel experience, but do have some mechanical experience. Any help would be appreciated. Where do we go next?

Thanks,
Flintcreek

Need more info:

Color of exhaust when cranking?

Does it run hot or overheats?

Is the fuel filler cap's vent clear for sure? ....

It smokes black but not much..not as much as the older Long tractors I have grown up with. It is not running hot. I am not sure where the vent is on the gas tank, but I am pretty sure that my father has tried running it with the gas cap loose. I will double check.

Thanks,
Flintcreek ....

My son is a auto mechanic and just stopped by my dads house and sort of checked it out. He thinks it has gas in the diesel fuel. So I am off to get some fresh diesel fuel while he drains the tank. I will post back after we give this a try.

Flintcreek ....

Next I'd try compression test. Another guy here had a similar problem. His pressure was about 100 psi---should be almost 500. He had a blown head gasket. ....
