EW, the way to handle the drain pipe is have the owner handle that and very serious. Tell them how much they can save by doing so them self and having it on job site in what ever lead time you require or the cost for Home Depot to deliever it is X. In life I find most people can understand such. Those who can not or will not we ship to Michigan. (next load on the way) Ok, that line on shipping them to Michigan was just to ruffle EW. It is a guarded secret where we do ship them. :) kt

Based upon Harvey's comment doubt the JD boom has valves that are designed to hold the boom up with the machine off for safety. Look in your manual and see if they say anything about them "holding" if pressure is lost. Some do for safety. You can cut off the machine and break the pressure and the boom will hold. kt

Dan, many if not most rear cutters use some sort of system to allow the cutter to raise so if tractor wheels were to be driven through a low area the cutter is able to raise up. Of course this requires or needs rear trailing wheels. Some cutters use such as a chain for that and some use a 3rd arm link that pivots. Unlimited tilt can be harmful. If cutter were to tilt more than the pto shaft can slide together, you can get damaged to tractor, shaft and cutter gear.<br>

The cutter with the chain probably has only two solid lift points where the Howse has four. Thus a rear single lift point is required. kt

EW, I heard it though the diesel rumble it was soley for "you". That the relationship between you and your skidsteer was not what it should be. It is rumored things are cooler since you moved back to Mich. other than a short break for July and possibly August. Maybe a new relationship want go some where and not just in circles, well not quite circles.

Congratulations and don't look back. If someone else tells you later they got one for less it may mean they did not get something else that your's had or such. Could also be they are shooting you a line. Had a brother in law get upside with a copier salesman a few years ago cause he paid more than someone else did for same model copier from same salesman. He missed the fact his was new and the other used. kt

Regina...reading Murf made me think of something...if your tractor has the sight glass you may have oil but not being able to see it in it. It can be down just a little below the glass and you have no idea or filled above the glass and not realized it is overfilled. The dipstick also if dry does not mean there is NO fluid in it just it does not reach it.

If your tractor has a sight guage try rocking the tractor (your son) and you look for any sign of fluid moving in the guage. It is tempting to tell you to lossen the drain plug very carefully and very carefully holding onto it and see if any fluid seeps out. But a little slip there and you will have no fluid in there and a big mess. If your lift or power steering are still working you have to have some fluid in the system but just low or if sight guage you can not see the fluid. Some of those fluids are very clear and very hard to see either in a sight guage or even on a dipstick.

What made you check the fluid? Did the hyd system stop working? Or just pulling maintance? kt

You may be 100% correct on some air powered grease guns but not Craftsman brand. They will sound as if pumping grease and no "outsquirt" when empty. They will also make the same sound if unable to push grease into the fitting. No idea who makes this grease gun for Sears but have had two and they both did the same. Possible other brands or models does not give a false impression. I very much suggest if a person uses a power grease gun they are sure if does not give false pumping impression as mine does on such as spindles. Just try it empty and see if you can tell it is not pumping. One other reason I don't like air gun on such is control. On hand grease gun it is easy to know how much grease is being pumped into a blind fitting such as at least my Bush Hog brand spindles.

As to the three hands, understand, need to replace the end on my hand grease gun with flex hose for that very reason.

Have you driven the area to see what people are using to cut their grass with? If there are neighbors it would be a good way to meet them to stop and ask. Most people are glad to help.

As to the thought you will get the construction company who is doing the road to take out the trees, be sure you talk to them early. Some companies here who work on roads will only work on roads.kt

Dennis, I use to be in same office building to a dentist and he would tell his patients to alternate Advil and Tylenol on two hour cycles and very seldom ever gave them a prescription. The two work differently. Trying to be very clear on this you take two each on four hour cycles but say Advil at 8 and then at 10 the Tylenol. that way you keep a full level of pain killer working. Don't know that is good for your liver for a long time. Understand both can eat holes in it. kt

I have seen a manufacture use the Helicoil in a very important use, the swivel bearing for a crane. You can be sure it was per all specs as the risk was high. I know it was done a few times and never knew of a problem with it. kt

Brain, does not a mmm hang from the tractor putting its weight on the tractor or a good part of it compared to a rfm? I just assumed a mmm was a lot like a deck on a normal mower with wheels on it only to prevent scalping not to ride on totally as a rfm does with very little if any weight on the tractor. All rfm I have seen has all weight on its own wheels when mowing so it can fully float.

How does the lawn being wet contribute to scalping? Is it due to the tractor tires sinking in the soil? Are you able to use a septic system there? Per the experts here on septic tanks the difference in the dirt with in just a few feet can make a lot of difference. It amazes me how much soil can vary and in such a short distance. Last Saturday was digging a stump. One side was a red sticky clay and the other side a totally white sand. kt

Jeff, on your home owners insurance, ask how they determine the value it or how they come to that figure. Ask what you can do to prove your tractor was worth more than they are allowing? They probably have a way to adjust the value but either due to ignorance or trying to keep the claim low are not telling you. Sadly all adjustors are not honest. The one you have may be doing all they can.

Jeff, some insurance companies will reimburse you at one level on stolen property IF YOU DON'T REPLACE IT BUT AT HIGHER LEVEL IF YOU ARE REPLACING IT RIGHT AWAY. They may not give you the higher level until you provide receits for the purchase. If you have your policy read it very carefully. It should tell you how they handle such. Also don't mind calling your State Dept of Insurance and ask for their suggestions. kt
