On the line of what Murf was talking about, how about (I think they are called) rock buckets on a skid steer or FEL?

You could run ad allowing the area to be used for terriost training grounds I guess. They may be able to blow it all loose and at same time round them up. :)

It sure would not be fun to find out there was trash there that caused the EPA to have problems. Hopefully all that was dumped was metal. kt

Jeff, it would help if you could tell what lead up to this.

I had about the same to happen once on a Massey. My problem was you could pull up enough on the gear shift lever it could clear the internal linkage. Not shifting the gear but the lever moving. In that case you had to remove the top plate and simply shift the linkage by hand. It really was very simple (35 years ago). Of course there could be a broken part, loose linkage or such. Hope yours is simple and cheap. kt

I do not find any info on this on the web but have heard it from a reliable source to be true there is a major problem and concern with their finances. Understand they are looking at options. kt

Two strikes against me on this, one I know very little on the topic and two you know a lot: are you sure the oil you use is not a conventional based product that is modified enough to fit the legal definition of synthetic? My understanding Castro's fits this and probably so does some others. kt

What kind of RPM's were you running? With this new a tractor were you running low RPMS, possibly low enough to not get sufficient pumping? kt

If the clutch is this stuck, will he be able to break the tractor apart, and then pry it loose and the clutch still be useable? To me, it seems with the cost of breaking the tractor apart (either his own time or hired) and then with the question of will I still have to replace the clutch, worth the risk of trying a non petroleum rust spray. Or is there no such product that would loosen the rust and not damage the clutch to where it would always slip? Some of the products to loosen rust sure don't seem to leave any residue. kt

Have you tested to see if the switch itself was letting the current through when switched on? Did you check fuses? Look for loose connections? Is it possibly you had a chemical sprayed on connections corroding them?

Not sure if the switches you are adding is any less secure then JD key is. kt

Our Gator has a real problem with fuel gelling and clogging the carb if you don't use gas stablizer before storing for such a period of time. I see that your plugs are wet but you also say they are firing. My guess is you are either not getting enough gas to start or so much the engine is flooding. Have you check the gas in the tank to be sure you don't have water builted up during storage to the point it will not start? kt

Greg, I agree about reading the labels. With Mobile One having products that look so much alike and sound so much alike are you sure that Wal Mart oil change people do? I am not. I realize all Wal Mart employees are not the same. First is the car care part owned by Wal Mart or contracted out? If contracted out, who stands behind the work? I really don't know. But I do know I took my vechile there one time and they took my order, drained my oil and had I not been watching, the synthetic oil specified would have not gone in it. They were out.

Had to replace the battery in one of my children's car recently. Her husbands uses Wal Mart, obvious they don't check fluids.

I very much realize all Wal Marts are not the same. Their prices are not the same either. (The manager has a certain amount of flexibility in the price level they use. Depending on the "competion" in that area the prices can be higher or lower than the next Wal Mart.) kt

Not sure the model we have but had I realize the transmission set up we would not have bought it.

Just wondering, is there a way to install an electric pto type clutch? Or would it also turn when disengaged due to how little friction there is? How about the old style clutch like I guess is still used on go carts in the engine? kt

Frank, Thank you for pointing this out. If all goes well tomorrow I will be putting out liquid nitrogen. Your comment caused me to talk with two people who have vast experience in this. They offered the same local solution of drop tubes and then such as bicyle inner tubes cut to slip over them so the liquid dribbles onto the ground and no possible leaf damage. kt

It was rather common here years ago when farming was done with mule power to dig down a foot or so and cut off the stump. Plow would never be that deep so no problem. Certain pine trees here do not rot, rather their sap protects them and they will last years and years with no rot or insect damage. Then came tractors and deeper plowing and those stumps became major problems. Even worse since they were now hidden and with increasing tractor speeds more likely to cause damage. There there is my front yard that was a forest before we built. We removed trees from the smallest up to about 3 feet in diameter. The stumps which were not easy pulled were ground below ground level with no digging to protect the roots of those left. That was 10 to 8 years ago. Filling in the rotting stump holes has been an annual event for the last few years and my guess will last for another 2 to 4. Not much fun. No doubt cutting the stump off works in some situations but not all. kt

Joel I think you are very correct. Sometimes it is a great product and then it is not. To me, buying something you expect to last say 20 years from a 5 year old company would concern we wonder if replacement parts would ever be needed. kt

Dennis, it is my understanding the prices on Husky equipment is the same regardless of who sells it. I would sure suggest buying where it could and would be serviced if you buy one.

Was helping a friend recently who has two Huskys. No idea the model but his smaller one was a real pain to crank. Another person who was also helping had one in the same size range and said he has same problem. They both said it was the design of the saw somehow and there was nothing to be done. I have a Husky hedge trimmer with at least as large engine and it starts fine. But my engine has one of the pump bulbs and their saws did not. kt

Ron234, I don't know JD so my questions may be dumb:
Is this per the manual of the tractor or the chipper or will the tractor not move with the PTO engaged? There are several here who's blood runs green, they will chime in also.

It makes sense you would not move the chipper with the PTO engaged but as you are hinting at, you have to have the PTO engaged and the tiller or mower working and be able to drive. Have you tried the tiller or mower? kt

Know what you mean. This past Saturday it did not hardly break 70. Overcast and a strong wind from your guys area. The nights were in the low 50's. Then this week they say will be hot..

Now, please don't throw anything. We had the later killder freeze last year, Easter Sunday Morning. Most important, corn was up high enough most was killed. Our hot is not two days and the humidity is normally very high for that time. kt
