Depending on what you will be doing and how quick, for those 3 foot plus stumps you may find grinding them or using a chemical on them will remove them sufficiently or quick enough.

Read the conversation goinig on here on tires, it covers what you are asking very well.

As to rpms, some of that depends on the type of transmission you have whether a hydrostat or manual and what you are doing. Normally if you are doing any thing that uses the PTO (power take off) you run at the necessary RPM's to obtain the 540 pto speed which is normally shown on the tach.

As to pull type loads you will need to find a balance between the ground speed for the load and the rpms necessary for the load. The ground speed is probably most affected by the gear if manual rather than the rpms. The rpms give you the power. For pulling I try to use a gear that does not strain the engine or if it does very seldom.

Adding to Murf on the broken smooth top, there is as least two different materials now used. The first ones would shatter and if one burner went bad, oh well replace the whole top. Very costly. Iwoa, if you or your wife wants the smooth top, buy it. Cost less on the first purchase than when you correct that mistake (mine). kt<br>

Iowafun, don't over look your pots. Some pots tell you not to use higher heats. With those you may find little benefit to the quicker heating ability of gas.

There is at least two styles of cultivators. There are those designed for and used by farmers with many adjustments and those sold by such as Tractor Supply with spring shanks on them and little if any adjustment. Which do you have?<br>

If you have the ones used by farmers you MAY find your county agent has brochure on their set up. ALso do a search at the Agriculture Schools on that. I would stongly encourge you to find a width (will be set by the tractor's wheel base) and use it for everything. It you find it too wide you might can set your cultivators for two rows under the tractor but I would expect you to find it too narrow if anything. Very simple fix, skip a row. Still plow it so it does not have weeds, just don't plant it. Normally the widest sweep runs directly in line with your tractor tires. You normally would not plow wider than that as you would be in the next row's rome. This also is used as a guide for the next row when making rows or laying them off as some call it. Adjusting takes time and gets old from row to row. Normally the cultivator is not the low point as many will watch there and the tractor is doing the damage. <br>

If you do have the farm style cultivators often you will find you use smaller sweeps closer to the crop with larger ones as you move from the crop and also normally set a little deeper. Also the inside sweeps are the front one, as you move out they move back. Will make sense when you see the dirt's movement. You will need to use sweeps of size and set up so you do not skip any part where you are trying to kill weeds. Normally you don't plow very deep when cultivating, maybe one or two inches. If you are using your cultivators to bed up rows you will need either hiller blades or plow wings (here they are called buzzard wings, probably not the industry name) to move large amounts of dirt to form the bed. If you are able to make your beds a couple of weeks in advance of when you will be planting and just before you plant, rip them open and bed right back the dirt is softer for seeds and the weeds will not have a head start. The bedding set up works good for potatoes and corn to put the dirt to them each needs. <br>

If you have the one you can adjust, when you find a set up you like take picture and record the settings. It can help you next year. Also the results of cultivators can vary with same set up and different speeds and soils. The faster throws dirt, while slower may not hardly move the dirt. If cultivating small plants, normally very slow. With good loose soil it will almost roll around each plant. Fun to watch. <br>

PS: to help you plant staight, set a very narrow sweep in the very center and use it to run down the top of your bed just deep enough for your seed. It is hard to plant by hand and keep it straight for tractor.

Oliver, you would do wise to take a list of all medications and be sure they don't fight each other. Also be sure each doctor is aware of all of her medications so they don't over prescribe. Some people play the doctor rounds to get the medications for the effects they want. As to doctors working together, sadly they often do not. You would do well to find one who is willing to take control of the situation and tell the others all must be cleared by me. As Iowa said, be sure the children understand where the problem is and be sure there are not given the impression they will grow up to be the same. kt

I did not believe the see saw ended over a canyon. Think you have combined two ads. (If that is a true picture the driver must be nuts.) I drive a Tundra and have had Ford and Dodge I would never think that anyone's ad is anything more than to get your interest. How about Chevy saying the reason their 1/2 can pull so much is the boxed material used to make the frame. Wow, no drive train needed, just a great frame. I think all reserve the right for specs to change without any notice.

As to what is a full size 1/2 ton, there may be Federal Specs on that. I know my 1/2 ton Dodge had a much larger bed than the 1/2 ton Ford or Chevy of the same year and was 3 or more inches wider in the bed and cab. So were they not a full 1/2 ton?

The only tv I ever beleive was the General Lee making the jumps on the Dukes of Haazard and it never bent...

Could you possible use a rough cut mower (Bush Hog) or disk to cut up most of this and let it rot? For limbs of say 2 inches this probably would not work especially if dried hardwood. Often the small limbs that fall into fields here farmers just disk into the ground.

You may find a landscape rake works and might be better with some of the teeth removed. kt

The honey I have seen raised here has been dark and that is based upon memory of 20 or so years ago. Best I remember the tast is stronger than the clover honey which is what we normally buy. Did not realize the orange blossom honey. Will have to look that up. Might do some local asking on this. A few years ago there was a farmer who had many hives but a new road came through about where he had them set up. Have no idea what happened to them. Where do you get the supplies to begin? kt

YP, not sure if it is a male thing or not. I think part of it is what the tools represent to us. Many of mine it is not the tool but who gave it to me or who's it was. Sadly a good tool often out last relationships or fathers. For fact when they are gone, they are gone. So best be sure what you are doing. kt

There is also one other factor you may need to consider and that is insurance on the building. The wooden frame building was more expensive here for property insurance than a metal frame. Have no idea if it would affect the tax basis for the building. If based upon square footage only might not but if based upon construction cost probably would. kt

On one of my Kubota's I was told don't worry about changing the hyd fluid for the same reason, great filter system. So I said okay, was not told when the filter came off the fluid came out, so I did change the hyd oil with a very quick drain. Don't know it works that way on all Kubota models. But it taught me it was much dryer to drain the fluid first.

Following up on Hardwood, I rather change my tractor than a pickup, easier access. As Hardwood said, I would change the fluid. kt

Based upon a few years in factory that built heavy equipment you might find the engine mounts will vary and possibly location of radiator and of course some small odd and ends. However the drive train end probably will be same for you. We used Cat, Cummins, Detroit and Deutz all with same drive train. kt

Norm, there is no one here better than Murf to give you tips you asked for.

Is this something totally new to you? If so get to know it in safe situation first. Machines can be damaged, people hurt and killed so quickly by a roll over or tipping one. If you don't know the maintance of it then I would want to be sure all suggested by Kubota for the amount of hours has been done. If you have the manual, read it at least twice. Operate and then read again. They can have some good points in them. Enjoy and as Murf said congrats and welcome to tp. kt

Ken, if possible talk with who ever had it and find out why they got rid of it. If they tell you it was just too small or would not handle what they wanted it to do, gently prode them to find out if they might have abused it somehow to know that. I bought one slightly larger sight unseen based upon relationship with the dealer and never regretted it. I would not be scared of a few more hours either. Especially if the dealer had dones the recommended service on it.<br>

I forgot the price, in my area the used price on Kubotas hold very well. Went 80 miles and it was a few thousand less on the used ones. Same on new.<br>
