It seems most of our rural roads have 33 feet from center line right of way. Greatly surprised me when we built a few years ago.

As to power company here cutting trees, they only cut those that are in reach of the lines with the tree standing. Boy if they went to cut all that could hit them if they fell, we would be selling fire wood around the world. To think on it, they only cut what is in the right of way.

need help, jb 4410 will not start unless i jump it off.
new battery, belt tight. once it is started it runs fine, but the rpm gauge doesnt work

You don't mention if the battery will try to or will turn the engine over.

Could the new battery be bad? Could there be a fuse for the alternator and RPM guage that is blown? After you first crank it, can you switch it off and then will it start from it's own battery or must you jump it again? Has the battery been fully charged or has the tractor been run long enough to full charge the new battery? Have you checked the cables for good connection to the battery? (I have done this) Is the battery connected properly? If this engine has glow plugs are they working?

The type of grass normally used in my part of the world for summer lawns requires being kept damp for about two weeks for it to sprout. Now rye grass for winter is different issue.

Jason, this brings up a question, how long do you have to keep the grass you are using wet/damp? Also, there is some kind of treatment they now use here where the seed is encapsuled that holds enough moisture for the seeds to sprout.

It prevents the equipment such as the blade on the bush hog from "pushing" the tractor. It will allow the blade to continue to run and slow on it's own when you stop or slow the tractor.

On tractors without the overrun clutch when you push in the clutch such as a bush hog blade would still have speed and torgue enough to push the tractor itself. Dangerous. Will put you in pond, ditch, in danger.

It may not be design just as my example but it is sort of like the way a hand ratchet works.

If your tractor was built for the USA market it should have it built in. I went to Kubota's web site and could not find it based just upon the numbers. If not you can buy the add on but watch the pto shaft length.

A point here is the lenght of time it has been out of the water. The amount of rusting inside probably would amaze both you and me. I would think 24 hours would be sufficient time to allow water into the complete engine and hyd system. Are you sure no one tried to start it since then? If they have you may have bent and damaged parts.

As to your liff lowering slow with no load it could be what a matter of what you consider to be slow. With no weight on it will lower slower. There is a knob to adjust the speed with which it lowers. Under the seat, between your legs. I suggest you do this with your load and may find it varies some from cold hyd oil to hot oil.

Light is glow plugs. Why it is on I have no idea but if they are remaining I don't think they will last long.

As how to activate the glow plugs on Kubota, I don't have the same model this was asked on but on my CUT you turn the switch to past the run postion, towards the start postion. You should "feel" a place in there where you must hold it just like in starting postion. THat should operate your glow plugs with the orange light.

On my CUT I have to hold that for about 5 seconds if the motor is cold regardless of the temp. (The lowest I run this tractor in is about 45 degrees.)

Years ago, my accountant said a farmer was being auditted and the IRS did not want to allow cat food, said it must be a pet. To which the farmer said disallow the low cost of cat food and you will then have to allow a large cost for contaminated grain. Cat food was allowed.

Mostly flat land for me,

Have a CUT and mid size farm tractor. CUT, hydro trans and brake stay locked (Kubota) normally.

Farm tractor brakes are only locked while on road so to stop rather straight.

Have used brakes on each to turn in fields (yes, my CUT is used in field mainly pulling sprayer). Real pain on the CUT to use as has already been pointed out and very seldom have needed to. But the farm tractor use them all the time. These are not OLD tractors and if you find a brand new farm tractor in use I think you will see brakes used for making many turns at end of the field. (when you get to the large tractors that break, doubt brakes are used much on them if any.)

I would talk with my bank first but if the dealer you are buying from has a bank they work with it probably will be easier. Think you will find they trust the dealer as to the value due to their relationship.

Murf,

Had not thought about your second paragraph. Regardlss sad and needless.

Talked with a dozer operator about a month ago that went over a pile (we are basically flat land) of dirt and when the dozer's blade hit solid ground and just stopped his head was cut badly on the metal dash. Seat belt would have save that.

But, it will not happen to me so off I go.
