Unless your ground is dry you will have to use chains. Get some practice with the smaller stuff first. I am not sure if you will be able to pull a 36" x 8' log that is a lot of weight.

I always use a 3ph drawbar so I can get some weight transfer. 36" would just roll over a lay there.

What ever you do go slow. BAD Things can happen very quickly with that much weight on a chain back there and a small tractor in front.

Generally, IMHO, most of the blowers have homeowner, commercial and professional lines. The difference is the thickness of the materials, gear boxes and fans. Some brands have optional stuff others it comes standard.

#1 Look at size of Fan and depth.
#2 4 paddles is MUCH better than 3
#3 paddle attachment good welds and back bracing

Me thinks if you pay close attention to those areas the rest of the blower is built around the fan and the quality will be there. You may have to add some options.

Look at your shipping weights. More weight means more steel which will outlast a lighter one given the same applications.

A light weight blower used carefully by a smart home owner will probably outlast the heavist professional unit used 8 hrs daily in the worst stuff.

I have looked at the Meteor lightweight line and they are built as good as the variety. Bottom line you'll get what you pay for here. If you are careful and only do your own driveways you will be fine with most any brand.

If the neighbor calls you to come and help him out because he ran out of push room with his snow plow and you start busting ice chunks, frozen sod, a block of fire wood, large rocks from the scalp job, you may get disapointed with a light weight unit.

Sorry about the long winded reply. But been there done that!

Art sold me a used Pronovost professional unit I use it carefully but I use it anywhere.

This is interesting. You might build a bridge to the center. Using a hyd excavator long reach use virgin soil from behind build bridge to center then work your way back out and around. A dozer with wide pads would work removing the spoils.

R-U going to use a PTO pump for a hyd splitter? Or are you looking at a screwtype splitter?

At the moment my custom built splitter is run on the power beyond circuit. I have a 4 cyl diesel and am looking for the right price on a big 22+ gallon pump.

But am willing to part with the BIG diesel welder for the right price...

Keeping frost away from the slab and not heating the soil around the permiter is a challenge. I like to use a 1' vertical piece of 2" foam with 14" alum flashing to protect it on the outside. I also like a 2' wide piece of 2" foam horizontal around inside to help keep heat in.

I do not think you have to use foam under the entire floor.

There is scads of discussion in the archives. Bottom line is you will destroy your pump with straight kero. Pumps have to have the lubrication that comes with fuel oils.

I run a 50/50 blend heating oil (dyed off road) and kero during the winter. Straight fuel summer.

Was just up to the NYS Fair and saw a couple of real fancy wagons that the 6 horse hitches pull. Now that is a show! The wagons look great but the amount of time to keep them in that condition has got to be awesome. One wagon was solid oak totally scrolled and engraved, not a screw or bolt or nail was evident in the body, and the dings in it were terribly evident against the artwork. Heck just the time washing and grooming the nags is just short of amazing.

I truely do enjoy the horses and the amount of training involved to get a 6 horse hitch to move in step and as a unit. I glad some people have the time and the money to still do this.

Chief you have done it again. Reach over your Left shoulder with your right arm an PAT several times.

I have several pieces of old equipment I move on the road not counting my wagons.

The TS stuff always looked so cheezy I never bothered with them and have tolerated the wagon shock loads on the tow vehicle. Actually I haven't looked for anything to solve it for years.

You can check thightness but those should be a shoulder bolt style, overtorquing could stretch the bolt and cause a failure.

I would look for a big ding in a blade or a bent spindle. You could also have a wad of wet grass up in the pan

I do my drive over 1/4 mile and parking areas with a rear mount. I do a neighbors when he's out of town and that is almost a mile. The widows is almost as long as mine up the side of a hill.

All the above are done with a rear mount. Turning and looking helps keep the body streched and limber. At least that is what I keep telling myself. I do have a neck injury and this does not seem to bother especially if I remember to stretch my neck and upper body stuff B4 I go out and stretch out the kinks when I come back in.

YEA I'd like a front mount with heated cab Blab, Blab, Blab. But the rear mount preformance of my Pronovost would be hard to equal unless I threw a ton of money at it...

You could probably get a new JD 59" 2stage front mount with all the stuff you need for less than $4500.

GEEEEZE Dennis I thought I had the potent water. Mine is full of sulfur and gas. The top of my well casing is just about rotted off, 15 years. It is artisian so I gravity feed a settling tank and get rid of the gas. Mine system is all plastic and have replaced most fixtures and the pump once.

I can sneek a plastic liner down my well and save it. You might be able to also and cut in and replace your pitless connection. You might have to find a odd sixe sch40 plastic that will fit inside your casing and yet allow a submergible to also fit. Or maybe a deep well jet?

We keep looking at the new well idea but this water is so soft everthing just looks so clean AND IT IS A FACT THE LAB THAT TESTED IT SAID IT IS THE CLEANEST (no bacteria) SAMPLE THEY HAVE EVEN SEEN FOR UNFILTERED WATER. It is not bad drinking after the clorinator and charcol filter. It is a little tough on bare metal though and will kill a car battery if used to top off cells.
