Tig me thinks if you get REAL serious with NH about them putting a Blue hoe on with your trade. They should be able to get real close to even swaps of hoes. You might have to annty up some rembering you are getting a warranty, newer piece of equipment, plus a perfect hookup. I am guessing you would be much farther ahead down the road if you want to trade your NH with a blue hoe vs a green cob (word used loosely) mount hoe.

I am all for building stuff and making it work, you aughta see the junk(bad word) TREASURES (BETTER WORD :-)) I have acclumated around here. They all are different colors and fit on my JD. Just built another large shed to put it all under plus 50 face cord of wood.

Need just a little more info. Is it brand new? If so all the seals and new parts may be just a little snugg yet. Try a litte shot of lubricate on each.

Have you cut the filter apart to see what it is the is plugging them? It sounds odd that they would collapse. You really need to see the cause so you can back track to find source of problem. Worst case you may have to drain your tank rinse out and start again, once you find the source so you do not repeat.

I am working thru a bad load of fuel on my big truck. Rust and water. I was not sure filter was problem until We drained and cut apart. I carry an extra filter for now and change one each day. Only 2-3 days will take care of the problem.

Truck stop ran out and the first load in must have really stirred the tank. OH WELL!

I'm sorry! I can get wound up and that is one of the things that can crank me (fussing about hours on the meter and the other stuff).

Cutting and splitting wood is something I know lots about.

We did not loose power here either. Me still thinks the 65 black out was worse and covered almost as much ground 100%. Had to milk 40+ cows by hand that night and next am plus feed. No body had generators on the farm then. They where still family size.

Self suficiency would only last till the meat runs out. Treaspassers would be fair game.

I'll take my little diesel tractor and my 175 gallon heating oil tank anyday. The hours on the tractor be damed. Agood solid ice storm can shut down the north country for a week or more. I'd make it thru that ok. Anything longer and there are gonna be a lot of hurting people that have not and are gonna want something.

Generally pto pumps are located on or in back of transmission. Was not aware pickups would have that transmission option. The 1 tons used pumps on the engine to power hyds on small dumps or plows. I have seen spots on side covers of standard transmissions of small trucks, but suspect cost a limiting factor, for aux units.

Almost all mid size on up thru the very big quarry trucks and all large dumps and tractor trailer, dumps, live bottoms and walking floors have pto driven hyd either direct drives or thru shafts.

Capasities vary my current truck moves almost 40 gpm at 2400psi to operate the trailer planitary which moves a conveyor belt in the bottom of the trailer and moves a 33+ ton load.

Our dumps have baby pumps on them by comparison but still able to hoist 25 ton loads.

Ken I really only use them lots in the short day season moving snow. The rears up there really make a difference with the blower working. Fronts have plenty of view over bucket if I'm out in the dark stacking snow, B-4 I got another blower.

PS I do not worry about amps and stuff. Tractor stays in the warm side of the house near the wood stove all winter. Usually bring in wood with the bucket. Cars sit in the drifts...

Wire and rope are some of the toughfest stuff to unwind. I caught a piece barbed wire it seems like a 1/4 mile b-4 I got it shut down. Had to use cutting tourch to cut out the bulk of it wasted whole after noon doing it. The new plastic bale wrap string for big bales really sucks...

Me thinks the dealers can sharpen their pencils a few times if you are serious and like to dicker (not your wife either). If you are buying a tractor, loader, mower, and some other stuff you should be very pleasantly suprised how much the dealer can peel off the sticker price especially if you wait unitl fall or early winter and dicker/haggle some over a short period of time.

I am amased when I go to a dealer here in Cortland and get a price and happen to stop in Cazenovia and get a much better price from the same dealer different locations.

Your factory savings comes in forms of creative finiance options or getting rid of a slow mover.

Little snow blowers are handy. Yours does not sound like a small one though, trade it. I use a little 2 cycle one to do the decks and clean out around doors and paths. I can carry the little one up the steps it has rubber belted blades so no damage to deck and that little sucker will move some snow!

I have a nice 3ph blower, again, to blow back my plowed snow. I use a back blade to plow drives and after 2-3 plowing use blower to really move the snow. If we have a really heavy snow blower is again first weapon of choice.

When I was mowing lawns for a living (not yards) it seemed everyone wanted grass cut short. Seems the shorter it's cut the more chemicals needed to keep weeds at bay. And the grass never looked as green. Good for chemical business.

I like the clovers and a nice green grass in my yard. I mow at 3 or so + inches. If I keep the ground speed down the hi-lift blades will do a very good job after the tractor has gone over it. I used 10-10-10 on yard a year ago first time in 9 years. I've never used chemicals to kill weeds. Mowing it 3+ inches seems to do that for me, Me thinks the weeds still there but I don't see them. I have a very large dog pen/kennel (we keep 5-6 used dogs) the grass is lush and not one weed in there... Hummmmmmmmmm

I only mow once a week because of time. It did get away from me this past couple of weeks because of rain and work but it does not seem to hurt it if it gets to 5+ inches before I mow. It is a little tuff on the mower drive belt.

I guess I need more time, Ilike the smell of fresh mowed hay, lawn grass, tilled land and choped corn. Which reminded my summer is fast ending. The change in season can not get here quick enough this year. ITS BEEN A LONG SUMMER!!!

You are most correct Larry. I probably should not have posted that BUT it is a fact.

I have trouble grasping the concept of these people that do it knowing the areial survalance that is used to detect it. But they do it every year.

Anyway you asked a good question. I would say look at Organics check your market. There is a lot involved in order to use the term organic. But the return is there if you can stand the fussing with it.

If you wanna deal with them long haired things my neighbor does Lamas, sheeps, anything that grows long hair for spinning. She does all of her own wool and farms out a bundle of stuff. She has gotten so busy with it she hires help to do her Custom christmas Stockings.

Sorry did not consider it might not have parts avaiable. I biult a single bottom 3 ph from a OLD 2 botton trailer plow. It has an old cast point on it. I've proabably put more nickle rod into it then I should have but it works good for what little I use it.

DKI I meant to response earlier. It it truely a worthwhile event if you can find the time. Hopefully there are enought Ole Timers left out there to carry it on for the future generations. Most states have the associations that still do the shows.

This one my uncle loaded 6 or so of us in the back of his pick-up, a brand new 1962 C20, no caps in those days one old car seat and a couple wedges of hay for seats. It was a 2+ hour drive 1 way I'll never forget it. Have taken my kids in the 90's. They do not appreciate the work or danger that was involved to operate this stuff. Of course they have never push mowed a lwan or trimmed with a little sickle, let alone any thing on the farm.

If I recall a couple of years ago at the Ohio state fair there was a terrible accident with a steam tractor the relief valve did not open and it blew up killing several people and the entire crew.

I have seen tremendous change in the farm equipment arena and like it all.

Chief we still have several farmers here using the old 2 cyl JD's. They are fun now, but sit on one all day harrowing a plowed field, ah hell when I was 14 it was fun and it sure beat the heck out of cleaning calf pens.

I'll take the new stuff anyday.

DK35 don't worry about your lost tractor. Just log on an wrte something to everybodys post. Even if you do not have a clue. You'll have a complete row of tractors very soon. Every 100 posts gets a tractor.

Lots of good info in the archives just in case you haven't had a chance to visit there.

The search engine works ok. Always seems to be reposts of the SSDD information.

Two weeks ago by Binghamton a guy was mowing across a slope, grass was damp and tractor slide 75 feet sideways down it. It all came to rest wheels up on him. GYD (Graveyarddead).

Art there was a great write up in the Auburn paper about the changes of the farm and the demographics of the small farmettes. Seems many of the "Boomers" are moving back to the country after they made their bucket full of money and wanna spend it on toys to make them selves part of the earth...and grow something.

I have not been to Show in 13 years now. Seems like we are so busy this time of year just can not justify it.

But 1 good ole boy was telling how 20-25 years ago the big boys were sneering at the little orange tractors at the field days of course red and green had only utility tractors then. But as he continued nobody is sneering today since that is a very valuable market.

Up Skaneatlas way there is a lot of intrest in mini vinyards. One hell of an expensive undertaking today to start one from scratch.

They are about $20 at tractor supply. Or you can get a piece of 7/8 bar stock, drill both ends for pins. Unless you are a welder I'd go this route. If you're a welder you can go lots of routes. If you use a draw bar wrap it with card board so after concrete sets you can drive it out and use it for other stuff. againg make sure you have some old wire or chain laced thru the whole mess.

But I would seriously consider a top link bracket. even it is only a clevis with a 3/4 hole thru the side of the barrel. Drop a piece of chain thru the inside before you pour your concrete to make sure you have it solid.

There are a ton of posts about chains in the archives. I build my own from worn out sets from town barn (the real best source), Only have to trade a couple of cans of coffee and a BIG box of donuts during winter for all I can carry away. Their worn out stuff is more than addequate for a little CUT. I've only needed to go 2X, Have never broke a cross link but did need to modify them for new turfs. My iron is on all 4 wheels and has all the extra cross links I can get in. (every other side link).

There is also a ton of debate about all 4 wheels or 2 wheels. I use all 4. always have. The only time I use 2 wheel is if I stick it and can not get it out by curling the bucket and need just a little extra, w/o getting out other tractor cause I'm usually by my self, I'll pick front up with bucket a stick on fronts only just to get out. Fronts are much lighter ;-)

These will work good on aggs if you keep them loose.
