If you r talking about mixing your old trans oil with fuel to burn in your tractor DO NOT DO IT!

First off the oil will not or should not go thur the fuel filter. You will plug many of them if you r trying to save a buck. If for some reason the filter is not up to snuff and the containmants in the hyd oil, metal filings etc will try to go thru your injection pump and injectors. You stand to do considerable damage to those systems.

If you have old fuel and some used hyd oil and r putting them in the same container to take to used oil place that is ok.

I use plastic/pvc on evrything. All the air in my shop is pvc. Lots easier to fix. Out and in the pressure tank or up to the octupuss looking fitting it's all black plastic.

Neighbor burned his house down sweating copper. Copper looks purty when done by a professional. If I could afford a pro I'd do it if I could wait for them to find time in their schedules.

I only have a guy with a little knowledge about alot of things trying to keep all of the systems working and maintained around here. He does almost all of it and sometimes it ain't purty but it works.

Contractor here looking for a place to get rid of excavation material probably 20-30 20ton loads. Will haul no charge reasonable distance. Just sign this aggrement.

We have quoted the new back fill for the new drug store going in.

The free fill is from a old gas station. Where did yours come from? Any time you get a anti-freeze or petroleum containaminated fill you have a serious problem. Know your source. Nothing quite like a ditch that is being cleaned where a car or truck went in a ruptured the fuel tank or oil pan.

When we build roads locals ask for the waste, it goes there if it is convienent. But if someone will pay for it it goes there. At $3.00 gallon for fuel it does not take long to do the math.

Putting a PC together is not rocket science. NON skilled workers plug in parts all day that someone told them to plug in. Most of the time they work.

I would not build one because I do not have the time to research what will work with what. And I sure do not have the time to deal with a non english speaking check list reader that is gonna send me parts to install and hope that it was right and if not they'll send me more, SIGN HERE and RETURN...

Or you can have it built locally exactly the way you want, with only the software you want, by someone who speaks English, lives and pays taxes in the community and barring a vacation is avaiable to trouble shoot any problem with the thing, anytime. Drive by, at break time, drop it off shoot the bull for a couple of minutes and pick it up on the way home.

Might as well get rid of our local tractor dealers and only have 1 or 2 brands and have parts shipped to us. SIGN HERE...

Me thinks If you only left the key on and the top of the coil melted you have bigger problems than just a melted coil.

Start tracing all of your wiring. The Ing switch is probably also fried. The points and condenser if equipped are probably burned. If its electronics you already know the answer.

Check a service manual for the sechmatics and start tracing from the battery.

I use Frontpage also: As you know some servers will not support all of the bells and whistles that Frontpage uses so you may wanna check first. My server will not support them either but as Ken said its a couple of clicks to alter.<br>

This guy wire is not going to get moved. The second cable I suspect is so the weight of the cable does not arch the pole.

What was the thread about eminent domain? If these utilities serve the public and the have to run across your land there is a utility right of way and I'd bet a lot of bucks that the distaces from the pole are covered in the right of way.

Power companies hate the cable companies using the poles to start with. But they have been in bed with each other since Electricity and Phones. The public demanded they use one set of poles for 2 services.

Depending how much wood you split its your call. They are a basic small homeowner splitter for people that do not depend on wood for heat.

I like the wood to get pushed off the end of the wedge and as DR said I like it mid thigh high "NO BENDING OVER" to split.

I'm in the process of building a log/block lift to eliminate the picking up and for a level platform to work from once the initial split has been made.

There are lots of them parked around here. But they keep getting ressurected in different forms. Some of them only come out for a couple of days a year.

I've heard the ol timers talk about them can not recall ever seeing one. My dad knew about them I recall him saying something about cost of powder vs hyd.

We had the problem in the Mojave. Thorns in all the 3 wheeler (I hate dating myself) and motorcycle tires. They make or did make a thorn resistant tube it is about 3X as thick as a regular 1.

Not sure if would help with sticks. But me thinks if it is a stick, slime not gonna help either.

Also if thick tubes not avaiable try a tube with a another tube over it to add protection.

You might also look up Dennis Kirk off road tires and there was/is a motorcycle 4 wheeler one (can't remember name, CRS?) with off road desert stuff.

I guess I stirred the pot some. But that is ok. I'll stir it somemore I suspect.

When I stated Brakes are not for steering or maintaining course. It is a solid statement. If the conditions are so slippery you have to depend on your brakes to keep on course you are outside of the safe operating parameters. If your front end is so light and you have to depend on your brakes to steer or maintain course you are outside safe parameters. Try pulling a 16' harrow up a sidehill with a old Farmall or JD with no front weights and you'll know what I am talking about. I've been there and done that. ITS NOT SAFE! I'd NEVER PUT AN INEXPERIENED PERSON IN THAT POSITION.

Sorry about the comment on the 400 my first thought is a Farmall 50 years old now. I do not know of anyone who has not replaced brakes on these that sidehill farms.

Can you use a brake to help make a turn with out the front end pushing out? Yes by all means. However it needs to be at a reduced speed and not by locking the brake to skid the tire.

I'll stand by the comment about OPERATORS and WEEKEND COWBOYS... There is a big difference in careful operation that gets the job done and the wham bam I bought so I can do it anyway I can...

Locking the brake to make a hard turn is abuse. Using the brake to assist in a turn is not.

It seems like I recall OUR Supreme Court saying it is legal and good to take a persons land and give it to someone who needs it to make anything for the public.

We have a big battle brewing in Syracuse. A developer needs a bunch of tax paying property so he can develop Destiny USA the largest Mall in the US. The kicker is he has billions of dollars and will not pay the owners of the property fair value and wants the property condemmended. Of course since he is building this for the public it all must come off the tax rolls for 30 years.

Me thinks some where there are some very serious RATS in our legal and political systems.

I WILL BLAME GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE THAT KEEP ELECTING THEM... KENNEDYS, CLINTON, GORE... and the friggin list goes on and on... ONE PERSON DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Many people can make a difference. The realitor in Chiefs story does not and will never have the resources to go the distance. It will take many people to help with the legal battle brewing. The county will just increase taxes to fund their scheme.

amboise welcome to the comunity. I probably would not have chimed in except for the comment about a intellegent conversation with a sales guy.

Bcareful some the the sales guys have never shoveled material from the south end of a north facing male bovine, but they are full of it!

Continue to do your homework, visit and ask questions, take material home and ask more questions. Don't get in a hurry. Some of the sales people are very high pressure and will do whatever story it takes to sell one.

If you have 2 seperate services you will have to have 2 seperate transfer switches.

Now would be a good time to reevaluate the need for 2 services and combine them and on pay for 1 service. Then you would only need 1 transfer switch.

If you have them seperate for taxes for a business talk to an accoutant how to wiggle the power into the business side. Our acc't has a formula and it seems very generous to me.

dk... EXCELLENT description of terms. I work with lab rats (Guys that do this for a living) and just barely can keep out of the way of technical termonology overload.

Our town road guys love the -200 up around 12-14% and state won't use anything near the 10%. But then again traffic loads dictate usage.

I like to see the private drives a little higher with the -200 on top with well drained stone under. The tight top keeps moisture out if drive is sloped or crowned like they should be.

BA on the 10/3 I'd use a double 30 at your feed panel if you need 220 at the barn.

From there it depends on how you want to do it and if you want to involve a code guy.

You can put in a small sub panel with a 30 breaker and a couple of 15 or 20 amp circuits + a light duty 220 outlet. or just wire the stuff onto jumper circuits.

I'd opt for the small sub panel. The intial cost is there but it allows you so much more flexibility later if you need it.
