I would never have guessed those gear boxes are ratioed. If that is the case I'd do it direct also.

That said I need to do some checking on the gear ratios. I have just obtained a new (25hrs) 4BT 3.9L Cummins all set up to use. It has a 8sheeve pully already attached with hand clutch.

If they are OEM rims yes you can. You will gain about 6" in width. It will be under 64-66" wide when done.

It's 4:30 and pouring rain or I'd go measure exact for you.

Turf tires have lots of potential for side slip. Especially if the air pressure is high.

Check make sure you do not have to much air in them. Any tire if it has too much air will reduce your traction wether across or up and down the slope.

Limit your operation on slippery slopes. Use chains in the winter etc.

I also use the loader just to make a couple of paths for the morning traffic to get thru. I have always liked the back blade as first choice then blow the banks back.

Seems like last couple of years the blower is first choice.

On the high crown I'd raise the outside edge of blower and let the inside just touch the crown making 2 passes it gets me just over 10' wide for the bulk of the drive.

I always try to start the season with anything but the blower.

It is getting bad all over this area. I've lost a few ducks and geese. Neighbors cats. My boy keeps stray cats, Havahart traps them has them fixed and feeds them some, just so they know where a semi perm home is. They kept the squirrels and mice at bay. He has lost all but 1.

I have seen more coy dogs, Red fox and Gray Fox this year than I think in all my years growing up. I have even seen Weasels this year I can not ever remember seeing one in the wild. I have not seen very many small game critters this year and road kill seems to disappear now.

Wife screamed at me a few weeks ago, Red Fox caught in the act, in the edge of the pond. I keep a 22 on counter with solid lead for snappers. Stung it first shot knocked it down 2nd shot and missed 3 rd shot, it was starting to move pretty fast and range about 40yds.

I have reloaded with hollow pts and have moved 30-06 up to counter. When the pond freezes domestic have no chance. I have killed the neighbors dog in the act also.

Good luck on your quest. A couple of road kill will make a good bait pile.

I'll go to leg traps at night with a bait pile and exterminate all that come near.

Usually just operating the system will ultimately purge the system of air and the air will excape in the resevoir.

The concern with tape is it comming apart. Meanining you use to much and some of it is over the end of the fitting and it breaks loose and plugs a port or gets stuck in a connector.

I use a teflon enriched pipe dope.

I streched out boom and dipper, also the stabilizers so everything was flat on the floor. Recheck every thing to make sure you do not have some stored energy somewhere in the system. Work "ALL" of the valves with tractor "NOT" running then un hook hoses from tractor.

Just used a small drain pan and speedy dry. Unhooking all the control linkages as I recall was the most difficult part. Can't remember why just seems like it was the headache. Maybe because of the sheet metal in the way.

Once you get the big plate off the back you have complete access.

My best thought is sometimes you'll want them looser and sometimes snugger. Depends on the job and implement.

Do the same job and try them both ways. I think you will notice a little loose it not a real concern. As you have already figured out if to tight and creaks when you lower or raise it probably is.

1/8 inch sounds way to tight for me.

Have you tested for power at the selonid and the circuit that feeds it? If it has power and won't pull in then you need a new selonid. If it does not Then back ward trace the wire and look for broken connections or switches.<br>

If this has been going on for 2 years I'd rather think you have a problem with a safety switch some where.<br>

I remember a little skinny guy could not get his tractor to run all the time. Come to figure out needed a fat ass in the seat to fully depress the safety switch.<br>

I would not be afraid to run jumper wires around the safetys 1 at a time to eliminate them from being the problem.

It has alot to do with how good your point is and the cutters on the flute.

You may have to modify your cutters so they are more aggressive.

I've dug scads of holes where the bit catches a piece of plastic or something else and will just ride with out cutting.

Many times I'll move the tractor forward and back with the auger running to help it break thru the hard spot.

Yes you can connect it to another place on the block. Make sure you clean the contact area well.

Make sure you unhook the ground cable first and connect it last when working with the battery.

Now that is the best reason for having a dedicated permenant hook up I have heard. I can envision a extended outage with the neighbors asking for help with their freezers etc with the mobile unit.

If you have a problem with power and suspect the air filter you should also notice more black smoke than usual.

Have you changed fuel suppliers? Or has your dealer changed suppliers.

What does your fuel filter look like? You would have to look really hard to notice a difference in exaust with the fuel filter partially plugged.

Go out in the back yard where you do not have an audiance. The biggest obstical is pressure in the lines. The connectors are close together and big hands seem to be an issue, mabe its the arthritius also. Mine comes off for mowing all the time. I try to keep tractor as light as possible so the steers do not scuff up the manicured look ;-) of my yard. Actually it for clearance mowing around stuff.

The worst problem I've had so far is one of the lines bleed down while the loader was off and I could not get back under it. It was in a tight spot, I ended up dragging it out in the open where I could get beside it hook up the hoses and git it back in the air so I could get under it.

I tend to overgrease. Anything that does not have seals gets plenty. The spindles are greased each mowing along with the caster wheels and swivels. The PTO shaft is 2-3 times a year.

Grease is cheap. Spindles for the Landpride are Pricey at $195.00. Other parts are pricey and sometimes very difficult to R&R if they have not been lubed regular.

Check with the aftermarket tire people and put on a wide set of tires.

If you have the widest tires already I'd consider cobbing a set of dual tires together. You would only need the wheels and tires some ready rod to clamp and pipe over the rod to hold the distance apart.

The beauty of Harbor Freight stuff is you know it came from SOME PLACE ELSE, it is seconds or refurbished.

They are good deals for entry level stuff.

The low price will get it for you up front BUT you have to assume it is a throwaway when broke or quits working.

I have many pieces of HF stuff and use it alot, floor jacks and jack stands. Also have a porta power seldom used but useful now and then. Bought buckets of impact sockets and intend to replace as they wear out or break with quality. Problem is I haven't broke one yet and I use them a lot. In the 3/4 socket sets the breaker bar will bend way B4 an American one. 1 made in USA 3/4 breaker bar cost over half of the whole set. But no broken sockets. I have HF large end wrenches also but never use them in tight spots because of knuckle issues. Only use my best tools when I'm in precarious positions.

Buy it use it. If you need to make a living with it put money to the side to replace it with better, later.

If your life depends on it (safety harnesses or other related or tools) you decide the risk and where to buy.
