What you see on the highways is expensive. We have one that will throw hay 50+ feet, BUT that depends on the wind and the feed rate.

Farmers use a bedding chopper. It's a lot smaller but it chops up the bales and has a blower. These will blow hay 10'. I see them at auctions smoetimes for as little as $100, they might need some work.

Towns and counties have been doing it for years. It's called oil and stone. They also use micro pavement and slurry seals. Many state roads are on these programs. The shoulders on I81 thru NY are seal treated in most areas.

The problem is curing time and the ability to get friction materials in the mix.

Public would never stand for the road to shut down like a driveway and after the first rain wreckers would be very busy.

GEEEEEEEZE Murf ya gotta love Government... Next they will have some moron engineer with 3 degrees saying which tire brand to use.

Some smart tire guy will find that government dope and show it how Larry, Mo & Curly XPO711 sno-bitters are the best and good smart officials should recomend them in their contracts...

If it just started it sure is not gears. No way they could just change themselves to a different ratio.

It sounds more like a tire issue. I'd look at the wear on the steers, they could be fairly worn and not matching the rears. You indicate you are on top tire pressures, so that is my second recheck your tire pressures.

A 4' rotary type mower will do it. However on a 23 you will be a half a month doing it.

There is lots of info in the archives about what your bx will handle.

First I would check ALL of the breakers and look for an internal circuit protection. I'd probably check for voltages and shorts inside all of the covers.

You may have to "FLASH" the field to regenerate the maganitism in the exciter. According to the very smart people it can loose its maganitic effect.

I would probably recommend sending it to a gen shop and have it looked at if it is not something simple like a loose wire or bad switch/breaker.

I also abuse the snot out of my loader. Corner loads, unbalanced loads, push on old rotted stumps, push large logs in woods, back hoe required for ballast on many loads, I cannot see any tweaks or cracks in any components or welds. Can not count the times the rear wheels lift.

Did you buy yours new?

PIP is the JD Product Improvement Program. If they have a problem area, and a redsigned part will improve, they will replace the parts under the program even if yours are not broken, or out of warranty. However you have to be having a concern ie: there is an excessive amount of noise comming from the diferential on a downhill push in this gear but not in this one...

R-U engaging mower at full throttle? Try it at idle.

Also the tension spring that takes up the shock on the belt may not be tight enough.

milkcap the thread is almost 2 years old and I do not recall the original posters being online for a very long time. However they may have changed their logons or someone else knows the answer.

I would guess JD has the answer in their service bulletins. Ask and they will steer you correctly.

I bought a Taylor Made (off brand) similar to KK. Mine is 4'has to be 18 years old now. It origanially went on my little 20hp tractor. I still use it on my 35 hp tractor.

As EW said keep it greased and cleaned. Mine has sat out with out any cleaning the deck is beat all to pieces (cutting other peoples land) several rips in the welds and not some rust thru is starting to show.

It needs a good winter overhaul. But I only use it a couple of times a year so it keeps getting putoff.

Buy the cutter cheap abuse the crap out of it then up grade some day if you need to.

VERY WELL SAID! I've been there done that lots. Nothing beats local service when you need it.

But I have bought parts from halfway across the country and they have bought a seat on a plane to get them to me the same day. It is a little pricey however. During the paving/construction season parts when needed are never quick enough.

I guess I just have to get out more.

The truck mounted welders have rubber motor mounts and vibration isolators. They also have grounding straps that run to the frame which is bolted to the truck.

You will not have a voltage problem if you build a 3ph steel frame and weld from it mounted on your tractor.
