I don't know the model or the year but a friend bought a Bobcat compact with loader on a auction a couple years ago and has been happy with it. He has put it to good use clearing some old fencerows and recently digging a medium sized pond. He is a retired farm equipment mechanic and welder, so likely can do most all the service but where will he find parts?

I'll have to confess, since I last posted saying the package we get with the rent bill from Mediacom was adequate for us we did buy a couple of extra "Packages" to go along with the basic. The Mrs. loves basketball and I was missing not having RFD so for about 20 some dollars plus all the taxes for this and that it comes to about 30 dollars a month. I have no idea what it costs the apartment complex for the basic but they likely get a bulk discount, there are 76 units in our building. We get probably 10 or 15 extra sports channels, a couple extra movie channels with movies from our time, and maybe about the same amount of RFD, Smithstonian, another history, National Geo, and others on astronomy etc., that trip my trigger.

Never say never I guess, never is a long time.

Hello Robert;

I'm not sure as to what degree you would customize an old tractor into something of lesser cost and hopefully superior quality to tractors already available.
I never gave much thought to bringing an old tractor back to one superior to todays tractors but I was involved in restoring several old tractors to their original condition.
Restoring an old tractor to original is a fun hobby but never a profitable one in my experience, so I question bringing an old tractor to beyond what is commercially available could ever be profitable.
I'm afraid it would be almost impossible to match even a twenty year old used tractor with the nice air conditioned cabs, great hydraulics, all wheel drive, etc. that we have been accustomed to.
I don't like to rain on anyone's parade but I'm afraid you could spend money trill the cows come home and never realize your goal.

My 07 Silverado had the same in reverse as forward. I ordered it with rear limited slip so I had three wheel drive, I don't know if anyone offers a limited slip in the front axle.
You are correct when you say the sales person only talks about color. I remember going to the dealership with my Dad, first thing happened was the hood came up, the salesperson cold recite all the specs. and every feature under the hood. I doubt that today some salespersons would know which end the engine is in.

I just read somewhere that the 2015 Fords will have a lot of aluminum body panels in place of steel, enough to take 700 lbs. off the weight of a comparable 2014. Their goal is to take enough weight off to approach 30 MPG.

Our son in law is a clunker guy, he won't buy a car with less than 150K. It does amaze me that he has very little trouble getting them to 250 or 300K one Oldsmobile wagon he has with 350K is still going. A timing chain or two and a few alternators and starters is about all he spends much on.

My drive got lots easier to plow this winter, I don't have one anymore.
I actually did sort of enjoy getting out with the loader pushing snow around, and do miss it.
This winter I watch the plow guy out of outside our apartment window push the snow.

Regardless of our personal opinions on "Using food for fuel". Remember back when the cost of gas shot up and shortage stories, (true or fabricated) were rampant the public was shouting about we needed to find alternate fuels before we exhausted the oil supply, and yes the government volunteered to wave some of the fuel tax on Ethanol in order to promote production. Yes in the beginning it took more energy to produce Ethanol than you could gain from it, but that has changed with newer methods plus more uses for the by products.

How much the use of Ethanol has affected our price at the pump, I have no idea but I'm sure with an alternate source it took some of the oil company strangle hold from around the neck of the public.

I am very aware that we have hunger in the land of plenty but if using a bit less corn for fuel would solve the hunger problem I too would be all for it, but that never seemed to be the answer. We simply have too many politicians who can't agree on anything let alone how to feed the hungry.

I would love to read a copy of the new farm bill, the old one was some eleven hundred pages long, so I'm sure the new one is longer. The highlights that I've heard take away one percent of food and nutrition dollars. end direct payments to farmers in exchange for a beefed up crop insurance program. Remember even when the direct payments were I effect less than ten percent of the farm bill dollars ever ended up in a farmer's pocket, so now with an end to direct payments the ten percent will shrink too.

After building several pole sheds and two frame sheds for myself over the past 40 some years the footing and frame building wins out in several ways.<br>

First, good quality poles were getting about impossible to find. The green treated ones will rot off at ground level in as little as ten years. The creosote poles of late have about an inch of creosote on the outside leaving the center untreated, they don't last any better than the green ones. I don't own the properties where the new green and the new creosote poles were used, if I did I would gladly let you kick your foot into the shell of the rotted poles at ground level.<br>

Second, at the time I built the frost wall and frame sheds the cost was about equal of a poled shed. The pole sheds had conventional barn steel. The frame sheds had chip board sheathing with vinyl siding and a conventional shingle roof.<br>

Third, If you plan to insulate and finish, a frame building just works out lots easier.<br>

I haven't did it myself but had neighbors who used to run as much as 10% gasoline in their diesel farm tractors during super cold winter conditions. I used to add some kerosene until it got higher priced than whiskey, but never added gas myself. I'm not aware of any problems from it.

8 ft. oc. has pretty much been the standard around here.

I'm not an "Extreme" football fan, about a half hour is enough then the remote goes into action.
My disappointment with professional big money sports began with NASCAR. When the days of anyone qualified to drive could trailer their own car in behind their own pickup, drive it them self. Plus when a Chevy was a Chevy and a Ford was a Ford instead of all identical jelly bean shaped cars, I lost interest.
NASCAR is nothing but a big money operation.
The same goes for many other professional sports, why do we make exceptions for OVER PAID baseball stars who use performance enhancing drugs that are supposed to be illegal?

Thank goodness the remote will get me to the Science channel, the Smithsonian channel, etc, that have some useful information plus good entertainment. And don't forget our public channels, they have some really good stuff on Nova for example.

Get the "Butt Cam" done. I wouldn't recommend it for a relaxing weekend, but after a half dozen or so I've had they aint so bad.
I was in the "Iffy" category for a few years having one every couple years. I'm 72 now and had my last one three years ago and was told to come back in ten years.

Yup, it's water, Murf explained how it gets there.
Years ago I remember the the Model H and M Farmalls use m# 90 gear lube i8nthe transmissions and final drive very few people bothered to change the lube very often, some maybe never a really nasty result could happen. The final drive gears ran really close to the bottom of the gear case which was the lowest point. Finally enough water would build up between the gear case bottom and the final drive gears, then freeze into a solid chunk resulting in a cracked gear case when the tractor was first moved. I bought a junk Farmall 350 once which was basicly a souped up model H that had a triangle shaped chunk broken out right below one of the final drive gears.
You are likely a long way from something like this, but change it anyway.

Most all of the farm supply stores like TSC will have a spreader very similar to the one you liked and sometimes but not always less expensive than Deere. A lot of the smaller equipment that Deere sells now is branded Frontier, check the Deere website for lawn equipment.

A bit more information would help.
Are you attaching the driver to the loader frame, or the three point hitch?
Does the driver have it's own hydraulic valves, if so you likely will need a power beyond kit on your 4300 to feed constant hydraulic flow to the driver.

I don't know if your normal winter lows are colder than eastern Iowa. I always treated the fuel with Power Service, the white jug stuff, at about twice the recommended dose.
This was for my Deere 4310 and never had it jell up in ten or more winters. The tractor was always inside, but never in a heated shed. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but I was always told that unless you blended fuel and added Power Service when the fuel was reasonably warm it wouldn't mix. The jury is out on that one.

I know nothing about a Foton tractor, but a thought occurred. Could there perhaps be some sort of a mechanical safety transport latch holding the blade up like on a backhoe boom that has to be released manually before the 3 pt. will come down?

Like has been said you are indeed fortunate to have not been hurt or killed. Several years ago a neighbor was mowing under some apple trees with an older tractor without a roll bar. He didn't see a low branch that caught him tipping him off the tractor backwards. He spent a long time in the hospital then wore one of those "Halo Type" braces to keep his head in a solid position until his broken neck bones healed.
OK, I'm a bit off the subject, yes like was said check all the fluid levels, fan clearance, etc. The old time diesel engines with an oil bath air cleaner could run wild if the machine was tipped too far and raw oil got sucked into the cylinders. I'm guessing a bit here but I think if you let the tractor sit for a few days most of the oil above the pistons will leak back down past the rings and likely will start up without much problem. It might not hurt to check the oil level in the mower gear box too.
Not to make light of your situation but it looked like a good opportunity to service the mower blades.

The gas you were adding would have to be pretty bad to stop it dead while you were adding the new gas.
A 620i is fuel injected so you have no carburetor to deal with.
It doesn't seem a fuel filter would clog that quickly.
Have you checked the power to the fuel pump?
