Yes, I know where you mean and I've never found a zerk either.
The service manual shows two replacable bushings one ahead of the diff housing and the other behind it where the front axle pivots but no reference to a zerk.
So I don't know either.

Some will disagree, but the builders of our little and big for that matter tractors do recommend their brand of fluids and filters in the given brand tractor that anyone of us has.
Some will say it is just a marketing ploy to sell their fluids which are usually more expensive than typical fleet store offerings, but I disagree.
The builders of any brand tractor, Deere, Kubota, or any brand want their tractors to perform the best they are capable of and last a long time without breakdowns, that's called building customer base.
Most any brand tractor will have specific additives in their transmission fluids to match their wet brakes, wet clutches, winter operations, on and on.
I think the hour drive for the real stuff is well worth the time.
I've been to your part of Nebraska several times and enjoyed every one of them, an hour drive to you folks is just next door.

You are correct, the old Farmall "M" for example had a high idle of I think around 14-1600 RPM. You could lug one down to 1000-1200 and they would hang in there till the load became lighter then she'd pick back up and you didn't hurt the "M" unless you lugged it that hard from sunrise to sunset. Those old engines had lots heavier insides, crankshafts, flywheels, etc. that resulted in lots more low end torque. Todays tiny high RPM diesels wouldn't weigh a third as much as the engine from an "M" but will produce the same power so as long as you keep the RPM's up. They are proven to be good little engines but they just aren't meant to be lugged, no matter the brand.

Sorry I took it to be a diesel engine form the title of your post "620d".
Ok, again you must have enough compression, but perhaps that is low for your gasoline engine. They will start with a ompression being a bit less close to spec than a diesel.
With the engine history of antifreeze in the crancase you may have scored cylinder walls letting the blowby be above nornal.
Does the Gator at full throttle actually go 40 or does it just seem like fourty?
I'm not up on modifying Gators to bring the top speed up. I think there are some things that can be done with different pulleys, etc., but if all that top speed was acomplished with engine RPM's you're probably lucky it runs at all.

Yes, I was taking a shot in the dark, just maybe giving the man an option to consider.
It's hard to recommend something when it isn't in front of you to look at. I've welded a bit of cast even an engine block or two but strenght wasn't thwe primary concern there, mainly keping the oil on the inside and the dirt on the outside.

Once in a while I get it right, so glad it worked.

The metal screen in the sump is a real mess to check, oil all over you type deal. My current 4310 is my third Deere compact. On the first fluid change from the factory fill I've did the metal screen thing on all three. I've never found anytbing other than a few casting chips that didn't get flushed when the casting was cleaned at the factory. I'd check it at the next fill but for now I doubt it is an issue.

Sometimes this is hard to do, but I agree with both sides of the discussion. I grew up helping my Father overhaul H and M Farmalls, they were pretty basic as were all other tractors of that era, so I still can apreciate basic things I can fix myself. I still have a couple H's that are "Plow Ready", but aftr being spoiled by power steering, power brakes, modern hyraulics, etc. they get a lot of shed time.
When my first intrest in a compact came around the early 4XXX series Deere's were big news. I test demoed a 4100, it didn't quite have the power and loader ability I wanted, so I went off looking at other brands. At that time a local Chevy dealersship had an Asian tractor or two sitting out front, I can"t remember the brand. On the few occasions that I do agree with EW they were just a bit too basic, crude rough castings, and nothing on the decals I could read. so back to the Deere dealer, spent lots more than a like size Asian for a 4300.
The same Deere dealer is still there with readily available parts and service. On the other side of the coin the Chevy/Asian tractor dealer is completely gone along with any other Asian dealers I knew of.

I hate to bring up a sore subject but I'm guessing it would be the front wheel bearings. Ours has about 60K, when do they go out? By the time you hear them what else do they tear up? Did the hand held show excess heat from the outside or bebind the wheels?

The joke around here used to be that the JD's were painted green so they could hide in the grass while the Farmalls went past.
I got to thinking about what we might get if we crossed a John Deere with a Ford/NH. Oh my, then we might create a "SUPER EW" with some green blood in his veins.

BD; I don't have a manual to check for you, but I'm sure if you google "Long trator dealers", you'll find someone who does know. Please don't dump in just any thing that says tractor fluid or hydraulic fluid on the jug. Almost every brand tractor has a specific fluid that the owners manual calls for, get the right stuff.

Have you taken the tank off the Gator? There is a lot of a Gator fuel tank that's not visible while it is on the Gator.
It's not likely that the tank its'self is leaking, but you never know. If it's coming from around the fuel cap then try the paper towel thing. Plastic threads on plastic threads are OK till you cross thread it a couple times then hope it's just the threads in the cap.

KT; We are a terrible society of throw it awayers. It just stands to reason that any box store is not going to pay what it would take for an inhouse repair person when they can buy a new one off the boat for less than the parts cost.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong, where do we put the next landfill, how many more garbage trucks do we need. I try not to be an exteremest wack job,. but we are kinda going to HXXX in a handbasket if we refuse to figure out how to build things on this side of the pond that first aren't completely made of "Space Age Plastic", and can be repaired when they break down.
Wouldn't it be nice to have the corner hardware store back where they fixed toasters, irons, radios, etc.

My unpaid speech for the day, not even the Green Party paid me.

The fastest way I know of other than maybe calcum/water mix flat to get thrown out of a tire shop is to bring the guy a flat slime tire.
With the tiny air tires don't even condsider taking one home on any machine, mower, wheelbarrow, whatever unless the SELLER puts a tube in, "not you the SELLER".
More relegion has been lost trying to re inflate tiny tubeless tires than any other thing I can think of, mine has been strained to the limit a few times.

Ok guys, just a point to ponder.
The number of movies I've been to in a theater during my adult life you could count on two hands and have a couple fingers left over. I always thought they were a waste of time.
Anyhow one of the movies I did see was something about a guy who built a robot that got too smart, got out of control and made slaves out of all the humans.
Ever think those blinky beepy dodaads you guys seem to worship might be the beginning of somethinmg like the robot in the movie?

Welcome to the form, your post is one of the topics that always brings on a lively discussion, synthetic oils might equal it tho.
First I know less than nothihg about a Kioti tractor so will speak only in general terms.
We don't quite come to blows here over gear vs. hydro, well maybe I and EW come close, but I'm not a fan of hydros in any tractor and I've ran them both big and small. Combines, large slow moving dozers, excavators, lawn mowere, yes, tractors no.
Again knowing nothing about a Kioti do they use a dry plate clutch or a wet powershift type clutch? Dry clutch plates do wear especially on heavy loader use and will require replacement in time, every year, no, not with 25% of the hours going to loader work, but sooner or later.
Modern hydros are pretty much bulletproof, they are designed to protect themselves from abuse. If your tractor uses a sliding gesr type transmission then gear grinding can occur in a hurried situation that wiil over an extended period cause enough damage to need repair. A bit of patience when using the tractor can eliminate the grinding tho.
If your tractor has a powershift type reverser for loader work then the gear grinding doesn't happen and not much maintenence will occcur above the hydros.
I've had compacts for a long time and wouldn't consider a hydro, but that's just my opinon. The number one issue is whethwer your tractor is a four wheel drive for loader use. No matter whether hydro, powershift, dry clutch, a compact using a loader without front wheel assist is a pretty helpless machine.

I'd rather that Gatoraider got to you first but likely with 1300 hrs. you need a belt. As the sides of the belt wear off it makes the belt narrower which in a round about way makes the belt longer, too long to work right with the variable speed pulleys.
I don't think there is an adjustment but I do remember a bolt that holds the engine in place that can break letting the engine move a bit letting the belt loose too.
