I'm having a hard time finding a cap that fits after all this.
We all have a stubborn or ornery streak in us but we all have a gentelman side too, I do try for the gentleman title now and then, not akways with success tho.

I haven't dealt with a flywheel in years, but we used to use the star shaped clutch plate with a metal "Button" so to speak as the friction surface on gear drive loader tractors. They would outlast a fibre plate many times over but they did chew up the flywheel after a while.
I haven't kept up so I'm not sure if the "Ring Gear" on the modern tractor and truck flywheels is still replaceable. On the old Farmalls, they were shrunk fit so we would heat them and give them a quarter turn on the flywheel so the starter gear had some fresh teeth to grab.

Your link won't come up for me, so I'm a bit in tne dark on your question.
If you are using a Deere hoe on the 4700 then yes the backhoe subframe brackets stay on the tractor and don't interfere with the three point arms. It takes a while to add or remove a subframe but that doesn't need to be done to go from the backhoe to other attachments.
If you are using another brand of hoe then I don't know how they work so far as the brackets.
The only problem I forsee may be the cozy cab. There may not be enough room for the backhoe seat and control station because of the rear of the cab being in the way
The latest Deere compacts with a factory cab do advertise they can be used with a backhoe attached. I don't know if the backhoe brackets extend farther back for clearance or if the cab has changed, all I know is from their ads.

Nope, no hole there in mine, just a warning sticker about the size you describe. It doesn't feel like ther is a cover or anything under the sticker.
Mine is one of the first XUV's so you probably are correct that Deere has a gadget of some sort to sell you that fits in the hole, a radio, maybe?

I'm afraid you may have cooked the pump by running it dry till it got hot. Pumps are built with very close tolerances and just can't run for more than a few seconds without fluid to lubricate the moving parts inside. If the pump was that hot on the outside then it likely was hot enough on the inside to destroy a seal and likely more
Make the best of what you can from it, but if the pumpo is shot there are exchange places where they rebuild and exchange your pump for a repaired one here in the states, and likely there too.

Foggy; I hope the screen is your problem, that won't cost much to fix. Do the pumps whine a lot when at full RPM? That can be normal in the winter but in the summer that can also be a sign of a clogged screen.

I guess I've been wrong all along. I thought that Huey Long from one of the deep south states coined that phrase. I don't remember who or where but some of the old time "Always got relected no matter how corrupt they were" types would even haul voters from precinct to precinct on election day.

KT; I bought a landscape rake to clean up rocks, pieces of roots, etc. when we built the house and it did work pretty well, I use it now to level crushed rock and sometimes move snow, so they do have several uses.
Every community has someone who buys scrap metal, old farm equipment, etc. Ask them if they have an old harrow out of someones grove or fencerow, sometimes they are junk, sometimes not, and the price would likely be right.

Any brand tractor with a three point mount backhoe is a high priced breakdown waiting to happen.
A subframe type backhoe mounting system does make it lots easier on the frame of the tractor, but not totally unbreakable. A three point mounted hoe puts stresses on the hitch and the rear castings of a tractor that they weren't designed to handle. I didn't see but was told of chunk of casting being pulled out of the rear housing where the top link is attached.
Mounting my Deere 48 hoe/W subframe on the 4310 takes about fifteen minutes, most of the time is consumed removing the three point hitch arms, after that it is almost a tractor seat operation. having things on a level floor helps a lot too.

I Just read up a bit on the new 8N and yes it looks like the CVT is the only transmission available.
I think most all the makers of high HP farm tractors offer the CVT as an option.
The only ones I'm a bit famillar with are the Deere. I have test driven a 7XXX series with the CVT. I know they are an extra cost option and a quite high dollar option so I do find it interesting that the new 8N is using it.
The basic operating principles of a CVT are really quite simple, but for some reason they charge a lot for simple.

No, I don't have a transmission, but just wondered what happens that ruins them.
I have heard of other CX's having the same problem.
I've never had a CX, but have had almost every other Gator except the CX and the electric model, and so far not had any transmission problems with any of them.

What type of transmission?

Regular gear?
Power shift?
Hydrostatic? Yes, some Hydros and Power Shift's have a clutch pedal.
I''m not a Ford/NH person, but this may help someone who is.

KT; I drove tricycle tractors long before I ever drove a wide front tractor. The tricicyles far outnumberd wide fronts because the first front mounted row crop cultivators either wouldn't fit or were hard to make fit and tractor mouinted ear corn pickers were widely used. There were a few farmers who had wide fronts and would switch to a narrow front for the cultivator and picker, but most just used them as a narrow front for everything.
Backing a four wheeled wagon into a shed was a several times a day thing when we and most every farmer had lots of livestock and feed wagons were pulled to and from the hammermill before grinder mixers cane to be. Most of the wide fronts of that era wouldn't turn very short and were just too clumbsy for backing a wagon. There were a few standard tread tractors around but not very often as in the wheat country where corn pickers and row crop things weren't used.

An added comment on the three point droping after engine shutdown. The real John Deere farm tractors I had when we farmed, none of them would hold the three point up for more than a few minutes. My little wannabe John Deere 4310 compact will hold the three point up for weeks without droping even with a heavy implement attached.

You're getting to a point now where I haven't had to go so far. So If you are going to continue on your own then perhaps someone here who has been there or a tech. manual would be a good next step.

Any sealed bearings I've dealt with have the flange on the bearing and the locking collar both cut to an eccentric that clamps them together locking the bearing on the shaft.
Worse come to worse depending on whether you need to save the bearing and what is directly behind the bearing an acetylene torch makes short work of them. Usually you can do it so quickly that the shaft and anything behind seldom gets too hot. Just blow thru the seal on the side of the bearing than peel the inner race and locking collar right down to the shaft in a couple places, fifteen seconds tops. If it is a smaller shaft size, 2 in. or smaller the sealed bearings are too cheap to spend much time saving a used one.

Do you already have the backhoe?
If not I'd look for a simpler way, this would involve lots and lots of retro fitting, not to mention getting the hydraulics to match.
If you already have the hoe then trading for a Deere tractor that it will fit would be tons easier and in the end probably cost less.

Your neighbor with the litle Fords sounds like he could have been a twin brother to our nearest neighbor.
He did the same, ran the little old 8N's at first then got a bigger tricycle type Ford without a cab. He ran the tar out of that one, with little trouble that I knew of. Then as your neighbor then got a bigger later model, not new, but a nice tractor with an AC cab. Then as your neighbor was forced to retire by a brain toumor about a year after he got the nice one.
And again I doubt he ever borrowed a dime in his life.

No one wants to see or be involved in a car crash, but I think about how a crash at 60mph today is usually left with survivors. Then I compare to the cars we drove up till the early seventies with no seat belts, air bags, etc. that a crash at 60 was usually a pretty grizzly deal.
