How familliar are you with tractors, mowers, PTO shafts connections etc? I don't want to get too basic if you have experience with them. Some have the familiar button to push on the side of the "U" joint on the tractor shaft, some have a ring that pulls back, some have a ring that you rotate while you slide the "U" joint off. The real old ones had a pin that went thru the "U" joint and the PTO shaft, so lots of ways they can be connected.
Rust and dirt can get bad enough over time to lock things together too. Several generous doses of a penetrating fluid or just plain oil over a couple week period may loosen it. Don't get too agressive with hammers, pry bars, etc., they can help, but too many things you can mess up using the sledge hammer method.

Unless you can buy it a scrap iron price why not look for a used Deere hoe?

The light intensity of the caracters doesn't change, they all look like square cornered "8's". The little red words, like on, off, bake, etc are all lighted, nothing blinks. The control touch pad buttons for on, off, temp control, etc. do nothing.

Yes we do still have a guy who will do that sort of thing mainly just as a challenge to himself. And he does repair Maytags so he sits in his rocking chair a lot, but I don't think he has a blue cap.
I think the Mrs. is going to be gone Tuesday so I'll tear into it. Kill or cure.

I don't know how to retrieve old threads on here but there has been a ton of discussion about proper tire sizes for tractors with front wheel assist.
What it basicly boils down to is that the tire circumfrences on a front wheel assist tractor must be as close as possible to what they were when the tires were all new on a new tractor. Reason being that the gear ratio between the front and rear axles is designed to have the surface of the front and rear tires going at the same speed, if not this puts undue strain on the drive system while in four wheel drive. As was mentioned on a slippery surface the tires just slip enough to make it not matter.

I answered your original question like a politician does, dance around the subject but never give a direct answer. My only experience with body shops has been as the result of cars getting banged up in a wreck, or hitting deer.
The insurance company we have now doesn't require the three estimate thing anymore, they must just have a list of approved shops. Last winter we got rear ended with the Trailblazer. It was hit and run, I did get the plate number of the guy or girl, dont know, anyway it was a stolen car that hit us. I called the ins. co. they said what shop to take it to, they did an excellent job. I'd recommend them to anyone, and the bill seemed real reasonable. Then on the other extreme quite a few years ago we had a Chevette that one of the boys rolled. At that time you had to get the three estimates and they chose the lowest one. It might have cost the ins. co. the least but what a lousy job. the doors didn't fit right, plus a raincoat was required if you drove it in the rain, it leaked everywhere. I went back to the body shop and was just given a go away attitude. They aren't in business anymore.

I have a cousin and her husband who lived in Slidell when Katrina came thru, their house wasn't destroyed by water but by a tornado, nothing left only the slab. She said they felt very lucky first of all because they weren't home and secondly that their insurance covered the house because it was wind and not water. They never rebuilt there I don't know if because of the insurance going up but she did mention that. They came back to Iowa where they grew up and setteled here.

Yes, I apologize for answering and giving recognition to the others and not your response which was there for me to read right away. The Mrs. was ugring me to get off that thing and get ready for Church right then, so my answer was made in haste.
I do have plenty of 1/2 in. black iron pipe that was originally intended to pipe the gas in to the furnace and pipe the air around the building. The gas did get piped in but the compressed air never got done.
There never seems to be an end to the things I want to do to improve the shop but being realistic the things left to do like hardlineing the air, putting in a freight elevator, etc, etc. will probably add little to the value of the building. I've had other buildings from a dirt floor chicken coup on up that were on rented farms that I made do as a shop but this is the second building I've built that was intended from the start to be a shop. I leared a few things from doing them wrong the first time, and still never learned everything I should have.

When I put the electrical/plumbing/etc. in the new shop a few years ago Lowes had a deal that they would beat any Legitimate bid by 10% plus if you applied for their credit card they tossed off another 10%. They did beat Grainger by a country mile.

I never thought about those teeter totter ramp things the auto dealerships use out front with their bargan of the week up on. Maybe buy the car and the ramps will go with it.

We weren't smart enough to think about the oil leaking out and all that when we rolled the old Chevy on er side. I think our total tool inventory consisted of a vice grip, screwdriver, and probably a twelve inch crescent. The pistons were likely loose enough that the oil slid back down in a few seconds.

Did you get an owners manual with your tractor? If not your nearest Ford/New Holland dealer can order one, but for the time being they can tell you where the filters are and the correct ones to use. Be sure to use only the fluids recommended in an owners manual if you have one or The one your dealersahip recommends.

Check the tools section on the Cedar Rapids Craigs list, you'll see what I mean. Don't those guys ever give up? They must find a sucker once in a while or they wouldn't keep doing it. For example, does the 2305 really exist, if so is it stolen?

I know very little about orential tractors, but just wondering what drives the belt on the tractor end. Is there a somewhat conventional PTO shaft coming out of the tractor to a right angle gearbox driving the belt? Perhaps the belt drive system is part of an attachment that you don't have the rest of??

I have a Tech. manual for the 4XXX series but somehow since last spring it just isn't here. I'm sure the trouble shooting section would have some advice. Maybe someone else here has one that can help you out.
I'm not going to rush out to buy another one just yet, it has to be somewhere.

If there is an actual dealership involved shouldn't that be part of their prep before delivery to have the correct fluids in the tractor. I wouldn't want a new tractor that came with thw wrong fluids, or are they shipped dry?
