I haven't made any myself, but a friend made some out of a used cooking oil/diesel fuel concoction containing other ingredients, like so many ounces of fuel stabilizer, some Power Service, and other things that I can't remember for sure now. He only made one batch, the mess was more than he wanted to deal with besides not being sure what it might do the the insides of his new Power Stroke.

A long time ago I had a John Deere 4010 diesel gear drive farm tractor that just wouldn't start much below twenty above. We used to pull start it with the 4010 in road gear if the road wasn't snowy or icy, otherwise the tires just slid. I've never tried pull starting anything hydro, but I don't think it will work and might damage something expensive.

Auerbach; I never realized you had such strict gun laws up there. A lady from town who works at a good sized sporting goods store said the other day that they had more applications for handgun permits in the week following the election that they had had since January first, and that they were sold out of most ammunition in a few days.

My father used to sit and watch for a mole run to show the soil lifting then sneak up on him and shoot into the ground with his twelve gauge. The neighbors were a bit wary of a ninety year old man shooting into the ground, but none of them called the cops. He dug up a couple to prove he got them.

Anything bigger than a 1/4th. in. I do pretty good just freehand. The smaller ones I usually either break or loose before they get dull.

Late model combiles will go about 18-20 MPH on the road, the older ones like the demo derby types went about 14-15 tops.

Thr trem "Restored" has many meanings, I've seen people spray can a paint job around old faded decals, maybe patch a fuel leak, etc., and call that restored. Then on the other end like Murf's friend with the grader. I've got two fully restored "H" Farmalls and a Farmall cub that are total inside and out, new tires, etc., I really doan'r know how much I spent, but a ton more than they can ever be worth to anyone else. Frank.

EW; Even with the tiller on the 4310 I still do a shallow pass the first time over. We used to have a tiller on a Deere rider that would give you a thrill ride if you tried to go too deep the first pass. She would just get up and walk you across the garden at warp speed scaring the maltomeal out of you till you had the good sense to shut the tiller off. Another thought on a reverse rotation machine, what happens when they hook a rock ro a root? Do they sit there and jerk and yank till the slip clutch/shear pin gives or the rock/root comes up?

About the only way without doing a major frame rebuild would be with bigger wheels, but I don't think there is enough clearance to make that worthwhile. Someone was asking about converting a Gator of your series to four wheel independent suspension here a while back, perhaps if they got that done they could offer some ideas.

I've worked on old tractors that have sat for a long time that wouldn't start even tho everything seemed right. A mechanic friend told me that pulling them with the fuel/spark off and at a speed fast enough to get the engine spinning faster than a starter will turn it gets some oil thrown up around the rings to give you a better compression seal than dry rings can do. I've had this work and than again it didn't because something else was wrong. Just a thought. Frank.

Stupeg; A 4 X 24 cylinder with a 2 in. shaft will take about seven seconds to extend and about five to retract using your 11 GPM pump on the rear shaft. If you run your tractor at half throttle on the front shaft might give you 18 - 20 GPM you would take those times to about half, at full throttle it would become pretty wild and pretty unsafe.

Another reason for the canted front wheels on a farm tractor was to let mud or a stone that got pinched between the tires at their bottom most point of their rotastion to fall out before it got to the steering post between the front wheels.
I and a friend of mine who spent his working lifetime running a county road grader were just discussing grader design a few days ago. He started before thay had hydraulics, then ended up as his last grader an articulated Deere. His comment was that the ability to cant the front wheels always was a big help, but that along with articulating the frame was a joy to operate.

I've had the spring behind the ball break in one half of a coupler set, this causes such things too. Does one half of the coupler set have a ball valve and the other half have the pointed valve instead of the ball? Could there be somethinmg as simple as a stick, some dirt from off the platform of the tractor that is keeping the lever from moving the control valve as far as iot should go??
