I used Mobil Blend in mine the last change. I had the same question regarding the gasoline statement on the bottle so I contacted Mobil. They said it is fine to use in a deisel as Bill suggested, it has the CG rating. It was around $2 a quart at Wally World.

Thank you David, that is why I did it. Soemtimes people (me/us) get too carried away with what we perceive as reality and don't stop to realize where we are at. What plane so to speak Billy Jack. I love horses Slowrev, just don't have time to own them.

First of all, I have attended funerals like and have felt those same emotions for the old timers that taught me to hunt, mu condolences.

I stopped hunting on public land due to the abuse/carelessness of a few that made it dangerous for all. I attribute that to a lack of upbringing brought about by a lack of family values, single parenting (where the father or mother just walks away from the kids to find themselves) and the entitlement mindset that goes along with too many public subsidies. Not to mention too much too soon, by that I mean many of todays generation do not place a value upon other people's rights or the sight of an undisturbed mountainside in a light snow with whitetail running between the leafless trees. I used to sit and watch that in my favorite spot in Prattsburg NY.

There is no shortage of huge white tail around my house or in this area, in fact there are so many they have become a nusiance. Not many people hunting and when they do many times they are harassed. They have their predators around here too, domesticated dogs belonging to irresponsible owners running them to death, cars, trucks, starvation due to overpopulation and so on. I had one charge the side of my truck in October doing thousands of dollars in damage and get up and run off. That was 200' from my driveway on my way home from work late on a rainy night, he still hangs around my yard. He has a huge rack and runs with a bit smaller eigth point. Hunting has received a bad rap due to a small group of bad people participating in the sport and a media blitz to disarm us all. If they worked as hard at throwing the law breakers in jail we wouldn't have the positive reinforcement society presents now to commit a crime of any type, illegal hunting, rape, robbery or whatever.

God bless your cousin, I hope she has plenty of kin to carry on. She was a true American woman.

I heard that turkey was going to run for office there Tom! Should fit in well with the rest of our politicians. Was reading an article in the D&C here yesterday, I could not believe it was printed. The PETA spokesman was suggesting a thanksgiving dinner of soy with a puffy cream center garnished with wheat gluten, yummie!! He said that most people could purchase a turkey or two live and keep them as pets to show their support for his organization and the rights of our brother turkeys. As for me, I have allowed one to move into the small confined space above the burner on my Holland Grill where he will be protected from the cold winter winds. I am going to light his furnace shortly!

Did you ever put the Chevron in the Kubota Mark? I just serviced mine and went the long buck for Super UDT, even though I did not need it. There is not a dealer nearby that stocks the synthetic and I had the machine all drained in a heated garage, so it was off to my dealer and spend around $70 for Kubota's fluid. I had been kicking the idea of synthetic around and was not planning on doing this job right away but time permitted it yesterday, giving me few options as to fluid types...ie: cheap substitute, name brand or Super UDT. Let me know how it works out, 300 hours from now I will switch if all reports from the board are positive. Thanks.

If you have natural gas available, consider buying a unit that will run on that or convert a gasoline model, and then buy the cut-out switch. It is easy to forget to pull the main breaker and backfeed into the secondary electric and back through the transformer, possibly injuring or killing an unsuspecting lineman. The other method is simply to use extension cords to plug your pump and some lights into them. If that is good for your purpose, Honda makes some nice lightweight portable generators your wife could probably carry around if she had to, they are quiet and durable.

If you are buying used at a great price I would not be afraid of one. Almost purchased a new one myself but the price was higher than the others, believe it or not. I felt the same way regarding the construction, by far the heaviest with heavy steel operators station and steel construction, no plastic. I love the fuel tank location at the rear where you can get at it easily and can't spill fuel on the hood accidently. If you use a belly mower, they have an independant lift so you don't have to hook it to the three point hitch, a great feature. Nice looking machine too! Go with what you feel is right, don't worry about the big three. These very same arguments have been made for decades about cars/trucks of different brands.

1) Mis-aligned weld on loader frame causing difficulty installing/removing loader retaining pin.

2) Fuel gauge reads full all the time.

1) Repaired immediately by dealer with new frame.

2) Will be repaired by dealer as soon as I am done mowing for the year and will be covered under warranty.

I believe both problems will have been resolved to my satisfaction by the end of the year.

Dealer has been great.

Yes I would buy this brand again.

I think replacing the old tank is a good idea simply as a preventative measure in your case. What I was trying to say was the reason I believe we don't have much regulation on inside oil tanks is because they are low risk. But you certainly are correct about having to protect people from themselves, unfortunately. I have a stainless steel liner in my chimney due to poor maintenance by the previous owner. That thing cost me 2k ten years ago and I don't think they used 20' of pipe total. It is one heck of a chimney now though, fireproof insulation in the anular space around it, then tile and lastly cement block. Not much worry when the fire is vented into something like that, been to many chimney fires where folks lost part or all of their house due to poorly maintained stacks and never wanted to be on the receiving end!

That would be a pretty marginal overload to cause them to wear out in 500 miles would it be not Art? I still believe axle placement or alignment is the problem here, I have run overloaded on four ply rated junk tires and never had a problem with them flying apart.

The piston used has the actuator on the top and it allows water to rust it into position. Spray a good penetrating oil into the top of it and work the lever, eventually it will probably free itself up. You should call your dealer if it is under warranty and see if they will replace the cylinder, they have had a great deal if trouble with them.

What is better about the Japanese manufactured JD compact tractors and attachments than the Japanese Kubota and N/H? As the owner of all three brands at different times, I would like someone to clarify that for me because my experience points to good and bad aspects in each brand!

On line support from McAfee helped me cure the slow programs and jerky mouse. Turns out, when I downloaded the security center, a portion of the old program remained for some reason and all I had to do was un-check that program from the start menu and re-boot. It works fine now, occasional problems with IE but I can live with it until it finally quits. Found a great computer with outstanding support; "Cyberpower", check out their website.

My 4100 came with the 60" bucket. With a heavy back blade mounted, the machine was well balanced for most any use. Actually, the mechanic was quite surprised that JD used such a large bucket on a small machine and warned me against overloading it. As long as you use your head, there should be no problem with it though. I would not have loaded it full of rocks and driven down a rough trail at full throttle either, as mentioned, the front end is not that heavily constructed nor very wide and you could possibly cause damage, not to mention an accident or injury. The reason I wanted the larger one is for moving snow in the winter and carrying leaves and brances during fall/spring cleanup, all fairly light bulky fare. As Tom stated, you can have the best of both worlds with the larger capacity bucket and that 20hp tractor lets you know if you are trying to lift too much (at least mind did). I can tell you that I owned that machine during the last blizzard in this area and it was used extensively to push back snow piles, it worked great with that 60" bucket and the turning brakes on the left side so you could actually use them with the hydo transmission.

You can buy them almost anywhere, they are universal for the most part. I used my Kubota auger on the 4100 I owned, seems to me they start around $300 fo a cheap one minus the auger bit.

I used the NH "semi synthetic" in mine and it also took care of that problem, for those that don't want to spend the $$ on Amsoil.

Thanks Art, I just tried the wiggle test, not much to wiggle in those tiny pin connectors used inside the gauge housing. I mowed for about an hour and the gauge seemed to go as it pleased, sometimes up and sometimes down, but mostly up. I put more fuel in the tank, about two gallons or so shy of full and it seems to be reading about right. I will mow some tomorrow and see what happens, but at this point I can't get to the sending unit or the wire attached to it without what appears to be a major teardown, so I will wait to hear from the dealer on the warranty issue.

That is a great camp idea Tom. I am leaning towards a large shower stall sized area with a seat and shower head. This will serve as a changing room for pool guests that don't want to go in the house as well as a way for me to rinse off before jumping in. I plan on building it when I remodel the deck, hopefully next year but who knows. I want it to look attractive and to enhance the pool/deck area when completed.
