I have started looking around for a trailer since my 1979 box/pole trailer broke a weld this fall on the axle. It is in need of some other repair as well, so I put it out front for sale. I'll take what I am offered to send it down the road, it really is too small for my uses now anyhow. I would like to buy a tandem flat bed large (wide) enough to haul my 2910 with the belly mower on it as well as possibly an old car sometime down the road, so to speak. I have an 18' car hauler in my barn now I am storing for a friend, but would like something a bit smaller. Those landscape trailers seem to be quite versitile, with mesh ramps/gates and sideboards. Does anyone here have experience with these hauling a car or tractor the size of mine? Any idea where I can find used ones? I haven't had much luck, found two, one is a flatbed at only around 6' wide and the other is a landscape trailer with 3500# axles. I like the old utility trailers with large wooden beds and heavy steel frames, but try and find one!

The better part of the paint job is the surface preparation and then masking off areas that will catch overspray. If you do a good job with that part of it, even a slight color mismatch is not that bad. I would suggest going to the dealer for the spray paint, your chances are a bit better for an exact match.

I know we are on the same page Bird Man. You are lucky yours came out as nice as it did. I'll bet that if the dealer had tried mine before delivery (I know he didn't, I asked the mechanic) the problem would have been rectified and I would not have known the difference. It all boils down to the three things Lee said must be done to save Chrysler Corp; "satisfy the customer, satisfy the coutomer, satisfy the customer. I love my new machine but this is the third item on it that was not QC'd by the dealer that I have had to deal with. Something someone described in earlier posts as a "teething period". Fortunately in this case, the tractor has been perfect, the problems were and are implement related due to improper preperation before delivery. Whew.....going to the barn now to power wash my Kubota and remove the mower for storage. Finished my last mowing yesterday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Bird.

One more thing I should mention. The ladder tire chains I use don't seem to make the machine jump around like I am reading in these posts. I keep the tires just hard enough to carry the load yet remain flexible. I would think that beats screws in your turf tires, but to each his/her own.

Perhaps the boss programmed something in that machine to prevent it from being used for pleasure on his time (unless of course you are the boss, then it would be a software problem)!

Bill, if the FWD is locked in, you should experience a good deal of jerking and tugging on the wheel as well as tire scrubbing. The pavement will not easily allow the wheels to unload the torque built up by unequal tire rotations created by the turning.

Tim, I had a TC29D with a 72" belly mower. Running at around 2300rpm and a 3.5" cutting heigth while mowing a couple inches or so of grass in mid-range the machine never changed engine pitch, even uphill. Of course, I slowed when approaching the hill and used caution while on it. For most mowing, I never used the 2600rpm pto speed. I would think the larger deck on mine would negate some of the additional HP over your 25, to eqalize the tractors for comparison purposes. Perhaps using high range would have changed this whole picture, but that particular tractor goes so fast in mid-range, I never tried it.

My TC29 did the same thing until I changed to N/H "semi synthetic" (read multi-vis) oil. Thick oil passing through small orfices makes noise. I would check the steering problem as well, since I am not sure what noise YOU are hearing. Good luck.

It sounds as though the chains are a bit too small. Buy a few extra links and add as needed until they fit. Or buy bigger chains $$$.

I thought I saw a soft sided cab on the Kubota site, it must have been for a different model. I like to stick to the brand name when I buy options, but if none is available for the 2910 that kind of takes care of that, so they say. Thanks again for all the information Art.

I'm not sure how much different the clearance is on your tc40 than was on my tc29, but I managed to squeeze the ladder chains from tirechains.com onto mine with no clearance problem. The only spot that was quite close was where the links hook together, there was some left over chain that I tied to the perimeter chain. I was carefull and fed the chain around past the fiberglass, straightened carefully and tightened fully, with tires partially deflated. Then pump to pressure and watch them from time to time while plowing. I never experienced a problem last winter.

The mower deck seems to work fine now, no sod ripping. I was wondering if Kubota offers a mulching upgrade to the side discharge mower or if that is a separate unit (or perhaps not available at all). There is nothing on the web site pertaining to mower decks and frankly I never thought to ask when I was looking at them.

I like the cedar idea Tom. I do have to cross the driveway, there is an empty unused 4" pe culvert there I can use to insert conduit but it is only six inches or so deep. I will probably have to rip it out and go under it, but I do have the name and number of the inspector so I intend to do a verbal walk through with him. He was very helpfull when I wired my pool. I ran a 60 amp sub feed to my garage, installed a breaker box, wired the pump, my compressor, the outlet for the pool area (required by code) and the light. I also had to follow special grounding guidelines around the decking of the pool. I burried it all 2' deep, which was more than required. My only regret is that I used 1" conduit. The price difference for 1 1/2" would have been well worth the cost for ease of installation. I too have sub-contracted the pole work with the exception that the pole is already there and I am building the backboard. I dislike having to contract what I can do myself, but this feeds the house as well and besides not being and expert on code, the wife would mount me on the pole if I screwed it up.

One thing I didn't mention on this subject, and perhaps the experts here know better than I, but the old rear blade I use for a counterweight extends out farther than some of the newer ones I have seen. This use of leverage allows me to use less weight due to its' relationship to the rear axle.

Danny, I ran mine out of fuel and it was a simple job to open the bleed screw that is described in the owner's guide, and bleed the system. Also, you mentioned the dealer performed the 50 hour. Is that a N/H thing or just a good dealer? When I purchased my tc29, they gave me a filter and some oil to do the job myself (which I did), just curious. My first Kubota, a B7100 came with the complete 50hr service from the dealer, I don't know if the new 2910 I just purchased is supposed to or not. I love the machine so far, and it wouldn't make much difference to me anyhow. By the way, I switched to N/H multi-vis hyd. oil and had better luck in the cold weather.

The level indicator on the Kubota I just purchased is simply a piece of angle steel welded to the bucket. When the bucket is level, so is the flat surface of the angle bracket. It has reflective tape on top of it for better visibility at night. Simple to make and attach. The rod and loop is fine as long as you can see it in the dark.

That was a good guess Art. The gravel in my new apron is too soft to use your test, I had tried that and they sink in too far. By chance, the rear tires spun a bit when backing into the barn with the loader and no rear ballast (when entering that door there is a lack of fill that creates a cement ledge). The rear tires left black marks about six inches wide with 20 lbs. in them! I will take them to 10 tommorrow before I mow the first time with it. What a smooth running machine, I absolutely love it. The manual states not to run full throttle the first 50 hours, what would you recommend for mowing. Other ideas I have heard here all state to run the motor at pto speed or it loads them with carbon and does all sorts of nasty things. I stopped at the dealers this morning to sign the sales contract (he sold and delivered the TC a week ago and swapped them out before I paid him) and told him the deck wouldn't pin up. He sent a mechanic to my house immediately to rectify the situation, not bad service so far.
