I shall try the 10# Art, thanks again. Something you mentioned REALLY surpised me! Is there enough difference between brands of like sized tires to effect the gearing. What would happen if sometime in the future when replacing the tires, one shopped price over brand, not knowing a particular brand is required to maintain proper ratio?

I never had a hitch while mowing either. Plenty of power for that, backwards or frontwards.

What size Kubota do you have Denny? I just bought a B2910 and am a bit curious as to how concerned I should be with this paritcular unit. I know that the J/D 4100 I owned was EXTREMELY light in the back with the loader on and even an empty bucket. I had to run an attachment on the 3pt whenever it was used. On the other hand, my N/H tc29 can easily handle loader work on flat ground without any rear ballast. I can share a story about a roll over as well. This happened to a new Case 580CK with loader and backhoe. It had a steel cab as well. My co-worker was operating on a slight incline. He was traversing across it between a pile of dirt over to a dump truck he was loading. Several times he ran over a fairly large flat rock with the uphill rear tire and with his bucket raised, it would bounce the machine off the ground. When I saw this, I stopped him and told him to slow down and travel with his loader close to the ground, it appeared the machine was going to go over. He told me to go do something to myself, he knew what he was doing. Two passes later, that 580 was on its' side. Mr. brain dead was not injured but had the s_ _ _ scared out of him. That incident was ignorance combined with arrogance. Again, fortunately no one was injured except the macho pride of the operator. I'm glad your wife was not hurt, these stories are real eye openers.

Just heard from my dealer that Kubota will be offering a rear remote next year for the B series, due to popular demand. They are plumbing my Curtis Plow to an auxilary valve that will be mounted on the loader control so that when remotes are available, I can install them for a future attachment. I guess that moves it into the "real tractor" category huh? Have to go check on the boys out back now, they have been sawing and nailing in the barn since before dawn!!

Dom, the only thing I have noticed is that it will chip rather deeply when damaged as opposed to metal that chips through the paint surface and then generally stops. The tractor is fairly well protected if you have a loader on it but accidents can happen. My TC has one chip left from a dealer repair and another on the rear fender from an unknown culprit. On the plus side it is very thick as opposed to the sheetmetal used these days and can be repaired with gelcoat or the like. In my opinion, it is a toss-up, look at the old Corvettes still on the road as opposed to sheet metal vehicles.

Your steering geometry would change slightly as would the speed of the inside and outside front tires when turning. I don't know if it would be enough to have an effect on anything though and the ratio should stay the same between the two wheels, since you are moving them both out. I have heard of Kubota owners turning theirs around, don't know of any negative results.

Thank you for the idea Peters. I am waiting for my builder to call me back tonight. I will see then what he offers. I understand all of the concerns that have been expressed regarding undermining of the slab, and no matter what method is used, I will make sure I am present and try to get my plumber (that is usually me, but not in this case) to assist that day as well. Is the polyethylene that you used the same material swimming pool installers are using, a white reinforced, ribbed , flexable plastic? I am going to plumb everything overhead with drain cocks and drips so the system can be winterized easily, so I will use pvc or Cu.

Alan, I have owned all three brands. The Kubota and Deere are about the same for mower removal, the N/H comes off easily but is more difficult to install if you are alone, particularly if it is not on a flat smooth surface. You must slide the rear wheels sideways, which can be difficult. The Deere and N/H loaders are a snap to remove and install, I haven't used one on a kubota yet. I tried a three point mower, if you have any amount of trimming, go for the belly mower. The time you save with removal and installation of the three point will be more than eaten up by extra maneuvering later.

I hauled my loader blade to the dealer tonight to be fit to my new 2910. I was surprised to see the mechanic still there working on another tractor, but happy that I was able to see my new machine inside with it's 72" deck and loader frame attached. It is one great looking package. I noticed they use Good Year rubber rather than Titan. The r-4's looked a bit more agressive than what I have with the Titans, which appear to have a much wider lug to pamper my lawn. He mentioned they are tubeless, which surprised me as well. I was wondering if it is possible to remove the deck without jacking the front of the tractor with the loader or other lifting device. I looks as though it will roll around easily.

Just as a side note to your post Steve, the laminated poles are a stock item around here now. My builder charged me $7 extra per pole to use them, and they may or may not be worth it, time will tell. One thing that I picked up on besides the poles is that the steel makers have different grades of finish. I wrote Fabral and they sent me the specs for the mechanical properties of their steel panels and an explanation of how it compares to those of Morton Buildings. I opted for the highest quality available.

I have a new Curtis Plow with hydro-turn I would like to swap for a like condition snow blower with hydraulic chute. I know, it is the wrong time of year to be thinking of this white stuff. The unit is currently set up for a Boomer however, I had the brackets installed so that the welds could be ground off easily and then moved.

My 4100 with 410 loader did that intermitently. It would just happen for no apparent reason while piling material. Never had it looked at, traded the tractor for a larger one.

I did not notice my 4100 creeping down, I never drove it far eather. What I can tell you is that heavy construction machines exhibit that characteristic. I used to drive both Ford and Case tractors over the road with buckets full of whatever and you would have to remember to curl every so often. If you forgot, a bump in the street and chunks of material falling out would remind you. Hope this helps!

Well Murf, I got it almost right. Fortunately, the engines had been preped for storage by the marina with new oil, filers sta-bil ect...I pulled the plugs as you suggested and sprayed wd-40 into the inner banks. I could barely get my hands to the plugs on the outboard sides (forget about an oil can) so I gently rolled the engines over with a breaker bar placed on the fly wheel. They were not bound at all, in fact I believe the only thing that was stuck a bit were the belts to the pulleys. I have been unable to get rid of what I figure is about 100 gallons of gasoline, so I added carb cleaner to the lesser amount of fuel in the starboard tank and away we went. Had to clean the distributors and file the points but they both ran great. Once the new ignition parts are installed and I have time to rebuild the distributors, we should be in business. I plan on running the engines with fresh gasoline as soon as I can, then I will thoroughly winterize them, spending the rest of the summer working on it in my new barn (once it is done). I need one more project this summer to really do me in. Thanks for the advice.

You will want the 29 with a 72" deck. They have had a rebate going, to upgrade it was only 400 bones. Don't know if that is something that is still happening.

Has anyone heard of the possibility of Kubota re-styling the B series tractor in the near future? A 2910 will be my next machine and I really don't want turn brakes on the same side as my hydro control again. This machine fits my size and power requirements .
