I bought my bx1800, fel, 60 mmm, from Carver Equipment in South Carolina. I live in Westchester County, NY. It came delivered perfectly set up. The axle for one of the wheels on the mower deck broke. They sent me a new one immediately, from Carver. When my middle blade on the 60 mmm stopped spinning, I brought it to Spavins in Katonah. He did the warranty work, no questions asked, knowing of course that I did not purchase the tractor there, even though he remembered me looking a few months back. I bought from Carver because they had a demo and I saved quite a bit.
I used the loader quite a bit - popping out rocks, moving wood, leveled a pad for a barn, etc. I grease it every 10 hours. Not one problem yet. I have 100 hours on the machine now.
Love the tractor, no problems with either dealer.

Bush Hog makes a model 665. It runs about 5K. If you can find one, the 665 replaced the 662. I am told they work fine but are definitely light duty. You can go to the Bush Hog web site and locate a dealer. www.bushhog.com

That is what I thought I had heard somewhere but I wanted to be sure before I try to remove bolts. Is there anyway I could tell which bolt might do the trick? Can't get a visual on them because they are up and under a lot of metal. Mabey I should consider getting a smaller lighter mower. Heck I might even decrease my mowing tine due to quicker turn times.

I bought a large rotory mower for the Kub L3000dt. This unit is at least 6ft wide and almost too heavy for the tractor to lift. My question; the gearbox does not have a drain plug and as such, how do I replace the gear oil?

I am considering buying this machine. I dont know if I should buy the mid mower (60 or 72") or buy a Bush Hog. I also wanted an auger and the loader.

Anyone own this 2910 and what do you think of it? How is the maintenance on it as well?

I bought a Ford 1900 about three years ago with a loader attached. It had only 450 hours on it and looked brand new(no oil leaks or broken links etc. and I was told it was only used for mowing and snow removal and then only occassionally. The guy wanted 9500 for it which I thought was too high. But I looked around a bit and realized that out here they get 6000 plus for similar tractors with many more hours on the meter and which are in questionalbe condition. Of course you alway take a chance on hidden defects no matter how nice a tractor looks. Well, I bought it and have never been sorry. The one thing that worries me about the tractor you are looking at is the number of hours on the engine. Diesels are usually good up to 5000 hrs til an overhaul. For just around the house it might be a good deal since the tractor itself is build like a tank and should last forever. I dont know the price of a diesel overhaul but you might still be ahead of the game. One point of warning. If you are going to use a rotary cutter with this tractor you MUST replace the pins that hold the lower lift arms to the body of the tractor. These pins will fail when mowing saplings and the mower is free to contact the rear tire when turning. The mower climed the rear tires bringing the blade within inches of my back. Replace the pins with the strongest strength bolts secured with lock nuts and cotter pins and check them every time before mowing. <br>

There have been a couple of discussions about this in the past in this board, but you may not be able to find them so I will repeat my input on the subject. The general consensus is that the Land Pride system is the best. I have not tried it because the price is prohibitive for me. There is a systme called Delta Hook which looks pretty good and can be accessed through a search engine. I use a Speeco Quick-Hitch about which there is some controversy. It is cheap (149-169 dollars) and rather crude and probablly not adaptable to all kinds of implements. I have had good luck with it on rotary cutters and dirt scoops. Depending on the brand of implements you have some modifications of their hitchs may be required. I have been able to do these my self at nominal cost so far. The lower link adapter bushings that come with the hitch may require some machining to work right but this costs about 20 dollars per implement. <br> Since purchasing the Quick-Hitch I have come across another system thats looks very interesting. Stevent Tractor in Coushatta, Lousiana (1-800-333-9143) sells something called 3PT EASY HITCH ($124 for category 1) Its worth a look and I sure would have considered it had I known about it.<br>

For what its worth, a friend of mine once told me that cutter blades worked better if dull. He said the shattering effect on sapling retarded regrowth. I sharped mine once after I hit a pipe and took some chunks out, but they dulled right down very quickly. I must admit that in spite of this I am tempted periodically to yank them out and grind them, but I have resisted so far and they still cut great. Happy mowing.

You might check our previous discussion of the subject on 5/28/99. It appears that it depends on the implements you want to use which hitch will be satisfactory.As I said Ive had good luck with the Speeco Quick Hitch with my rotary mover hooked to a Ford 1900. I had to machine down the collars on the lift pin bushing that came with the hitch and modify the top link bracket on my Hico mover, but that was no big deal and now it works fine. Im now modifying a dirt scoop so I can use it too. The lower lift pins used to push the scoop into the pile do not have enough clearance for the hitch. It is necessary to bolt on an extension plate that moves the pins away from the body of the scoop. I dont know how much it will cost to bet the plates made yet but it should be too bad. Also I have recently run across something called a 3PT EASY HITCH ($125) sold by The Stevens Tractor Co. Route 1 Coushatta, Louisiana 71019 (1-800-333-9143). Looks like a slick idea that would require no modification of any implements to get it to work. I might have gotten one if I had seen it sooner.

Yes, I bought one to dig a driveway several years ago. It worked well for me if I mounted it so that I backed into the dirt. It wasnt as good when pulled, however, but that may have been my inexperience. Even so it more than paid for itself and moved one hell of a lot of earth.

The age probably had a lot to do with it. I suspect that completly rebuilding the electrical system would have helped a lot. I still have the old Massey in my shed and someday will rebuild it completely just to have as second tractor.

I was quoted $9000 for a B7300 w/o any implements, so your deal w/the rotary cutter<br>sounds good.<br>I ended up buying a used B6100 instead, because I didn't have the money for the 7300.<br>The B6100 only has 14HP and I use a 4' belly mower and a 4' rotary cutter on it.<br>Don't worry about power for your rotary cutter, you'll have plenty of power for that.<br>But with the belly mower or finish mower you'll have to go slowly through any<br>tall grass, my belly mower takes a lot more power than the rotary cutter.

Saw a 200 series ? today by the road ,didn't get a chance to stop or get the phone number. I'll get a chance to stop next week . I think it was a 245? about the size of a B7300 kubota . any one know any thing about them or what I should look for ? It appeared to be 4wd (ag tires up front ) . I'm not sure but I heard mitsubishi made their compacts? How about parts/service? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or info.
