The red wire should be 8 gauge and is Positive connects to battery positive. The black wire should be the ground, connect a test light to confirm by connecting test light to positive battery terminal and touching this wire, if it is the ground it will light.

Just curious if anyone knows why Iowa leans towards the democratic party? I have been there a couple of times but I have not learned what makes Iowa different than its red state leaning neighbors,
