Try doing a search in Google, or whatever, on it and you may find some others for sale around the country. It will get you some asking prices, at least.

The hydraulic lift on my B7800 has �quarter-inching� control. Supposedly, the lift arms raise or lower in one quarter inch increments, but it doesn�t seem to actually work that way. I�m not sure how to control it or even if mine is working as it is supposed to. Moving the control lever causes the arms to raise and lower, but not in increments, as far as I can tell. It seems a little hard to control the height precisely. (The operator�s manual is of no help at all.)<br>

I think other models have this �feature�, too. Can someone who has one of these describe how it works and how to operate it?<br>

There is probably an oil pressure relief valve somewhere (maybe in or near the oil pump) and it sounds like that valve is stuck. 55 - 75 PSI sounds high to me, but I don't know for sure...

If the only issue is getting to a far-away dealership to buy the filters, then I would say stick with the Kubota filters but order them online. Price will be a bit higher, especially with shipping, but you will know that you have the correct filters. You can save on shipping cost by ordering several at once.

The Kubota 40-amp alternator upgrade kit is part number B7324. In addition to the B7800, it fits B2710, B2910, B2630 and B3030. Order the kit thru a Kubota dealer. In October 2010, it cost $193.00.

The kit contains everything you need, and a few extra parts for other models. The instuctions are complete, once you understand how to use them. Takes a couple of hours. Dennis Bailacki posted a nice PDF of slides about how to do this job. A simple internet search should find it.

A new dipstick is included in the kit which, if used, would require removing the side engine cover to check the oil. Instead, I just bent the original dipstick tube so that it clears the new alternator. That way, I can still check my oil by just raising the hood. I was able to do the install without removing the muffler, but removal of the steering wheel is probably neccesary.

Yes, I was using 4WD, but even with various things behind the mower wheels, the tractor wheels just pushed everything across the blacktop. Probably wouldn't have been a problem on dirt or grass. It's just asking a lot of a tire that's only about 20" in diameter to jump up onto a slick, rounded metal thing about 8" high.

The firewood "ramps" worked great, tho. Anything like bricks or 2x4s would probably work, too. It just needs some way for the tire to climb up a slope or in smaller steps.

Not sure about your model, but a site called kubotabooks.com has PDFs of owners manuals and parts manuals for a lot of them. The parts manual is set of drawings showing every part and how they go together, with part numbers. I got it for my new B7800 and it really helped me understand how the tractor works.

I bought the service manual from a place called Coleman Equipment (colemanequip.com). There are other online sources, too. It wasn't cheap, but probably worth it if you can do just one repair vs. the dealer. Or, if you need the wiring diagram.
