Check out the Johne Deere website. They recently posted information on the new 4020 series tractors. Actually my grandfather just purchased the 4320. 48hp turbo and please note that these are not Yanmar diesels anymore.

Related issue - Has anyone used an aternative to the New Holland oil filter such as Fleetguard or Wix? The Fleetguard LF3795 or Wix 51521 are supposed to work on a TC29D.

I agree with Jim. After shopping a number of dealers within a 100 mile radius, I found that my local dealer actually had the best deal.

I followed Jeff B's lead and installed a two position switch on the dash that allows normal brake pedal switch mode (NH design) or bypass mode when I want to use the brakes to aid in stearing. I wanted to contact NH and give them my two cents on this issue but can't find an email address to use to contact them.

Gerard, I just went through the same decision you are trying to make. This is what I came up with. JD (4000 Series) High Priced lots of plastic and the power plant is a Yanmar on the other hand it a deere - a very good name. NH Boomer - its a joke, over grown lawn mower. Cub (7600 Series)- Built heavy and strong but powered by Mitsubishi - not detailed finished. Kubota 3410 HST - high priced and not green but its engineered extremely well and built to last and powered by Kubota. In my Decision JD is built to cheep (4000 Series only)- NH no way - Cub has not vested interest in the compact market (Totally Mitsubishi made unit with cub decals) and poor sales so far, they can walk away from this series any time they want. I was caught by that before when I bought a Bolens G1704 4WD (Iseki), a grat tractor but NO parts or service. I ended up with a Kubota L3410/Loader/Backhoe/Bush hog/Snow blower/blade - Yes, it cost a little bit more then the green, but it all designed correctly (I am Robotic engineer-So hopefully I know machines) and its all made to work together. Kubota is not a mismatch of components that they try to get to work together(JD) and it's not a subbrand that the "manufacture" can just walk away from when they want. Thats my two Cents.

I have a a 1984 JD 1050 with 400 hours used exclusively for light duty mowing, pulling a JD rotary or a JD sickle bar. I would like to sell the machine with the rotary mower, but I have not idea what price to ask. Any suggestions? Is there a blue book value for this kind of thing?

Based on my experience with a 4 ft bushhog on a B7100 4x4 I think you would have a tough time keeping the front down even if you could pick up the mower. I run with a loader on hilly terrain. I can't imagine what the extra amount of side swing would do to control and stability of the tractor. I am happy with the 4 foot but my brother runs circles around me with his lawn tractor in the same field.

I have an old B7100 with 2500+ hours in OR. I think it is late 70's early 80's. I have had no problem getting parts. I broke it in half last year(my fault) and called a local dealer. He made some calls and found me options for new or used. I had the parts for my tractor in 2 days delivered to my door from the east coast. I was able to split this tractor, move all my gearcase parts to the new gearbox and reassemble in about 4 hours. These are amazingly well designed for easy repairs. I was also very impressed with the condition of the moving parts after so many years of rough service. I would not hesitate to purchase another Kubota!

Regretably, we need to use the ElectroNet fence as much to keep predators (ie. coyotes) out as to keep the sheep and goats in. In terms of looking at the fencing, we've found that from 75' away you can barely see it. And this is with white fence; there's a green/gray version that I suspect is even less obvious.<br>As far as the invisible fencing goes, seems like a real interesting idea. As to whether the sheep are smart enough to figure it out - you know the old saying about

well having used skid steers allot they tend to be usless for digging in. Even for simple snow and ice removal, they also tend to be a little tippy. and the backhoe attachments on them suck. I built my own home, converted a barn into a house and i used a variety of small backhoes. I had to jack up the barn and dig out the old foundation. several times i wasted valuable and expensive machine time repairing flat tires. also the manuverability in wet and slushy ground was a problem, i wish i could have used the magnatrack. I am thinking of restoring more barns the magnatrack will be my first major purchase. The most useless backhoe rig was the john dear 4whl drive tractor with the backhoe attachment. It wasn't very manuverable and the backhoe wasn't as powerful as the terramite. but the Terramite wasn't four wheel drive so in muddy ground using the bucket the thing just slid around.
