I like the ability to set up the splitter in a convenient, flat, level clearing and then use the tractor for gathering logs or pre-cut pieces and bringing them back to the splitting site. Split wood can then be loaded directly into the loader bucket for transport to the woodpile, if necessary. This versatility added to Peters' concerns about 3pt units strongly favors a self-contained, towable unit. I also prefer the units that can be used in upright mode, especially for large or heavy pieces. -Ken

Propylene glycol antifreeze is the safe stuff, ethylene glycol is poison. On the subject of urethane foam, I have the front tires on my little Kubota foam-filled. Yes, they are truly puncture-proof, but they are much heavier than when they contained calcium solution -- the company should be able to tell you exactly how much your tires will weigh full of foam. Also, my tires are much harder than before, which ruts the lawn and gives the steering linkage a real workout on rough terrain. I'm glad chronic flat tires are no longer a problem for me, but there are some trade-offs to foam-filling.

I keep my tractor and small collection of equipment in a "soft" building. I use a thick sheet of plastic film to seal the floor. Cheap, esty to put up, easy to move or take down.

My B1750 has worked this way since it was new -- if you turn too sharply in either direction, the 4WD disengages. It's one of very few things I find annoying about the tractor, but I've gotten used to it over the years.

Unless the 2400 is very different, you should be able to lift the rear the way I do on my 1750: using the scissors jack from my pickup under the rear axle. You could also use a floor jack or a bottle jack on a block of wood. Good advice about chocking the wheels has already been given. My safety tip is that you should always use solid wood for chocking and blocking up, since it will not crack or crumble unexpectedly like brick or concrete block can.
