Bo and Greg relax. Maybe I was whineing a bit about paying $100 for the 5 filters I bought. But this seems like the perfect place to do just that. mostly I was just trying to share information with other folks who are comparing different brands of tractors. If everthing else is equal but the filter change cost 3x times what it should, that can be a deciding factor. Lets help people make good choices by sharing as much info as we can.

I got a stand alone unit about 5 years ago to use while I waited for the power company to run a line to my construction site. It was great then but really payed for itself when I was out of town and my wife and kids were stranded at home during a unexpected snow storm, with no power. I had to tell my wife over the phone how to get the generator going and the house powered up, it would have been impossible for her to hook up and use a PTO driven unit. I keep two 5 gal cans of gas around during the winter for the generator. To keep the gas fresh every 4-6 weeks I just pour it into one of the cars and refill the cans.
I believe the ideal generator would be a stand alone diesel unit that I could hook to the 600 gal fuel oil tank I have for the furnace. But diesel units are expensive.

I looked at the photos,interesting concept. Now if they could just get the loader to load the dump bed, then you would have something.

Dan<br>I got my 21D from Tarheel FNH in Lenoir NC. That's the northwest part of NC. I think it was an average deal. FYI I paid $3200.00 for the loader. Good luck

I only have about 50 hrs. on a TC21D. So far the tractor has been super. I have used it mostly for mowing and loader work with some box blade work on my road . I have been impressed with the pulling power with the box blade, I can pull a 5' box blade full of gravel up my drive. <br>I can't compare the TC to any of the other compacts as most of my tractor time has been on a MF 135. I don't know what NH calls it, but it's a clutch. You use it to engage and disengage the PTO's and the drive. If you don't push it in before you try to shift the pto you can grind gears just like on your 8N. Most of the time you don't need to use it for the drive as the center position of the HST pedal is neutral. Hope this helps.<br>

I have about twenty hours on a TC21D4 with belly mower,turf tires and loader.<br>Tractor $11374.00<br>Loader $3200.00<br>mid mt. mower $1750.00<br>This was about $200.00 lower than the kubota b2100, seems to be more tractor for the money.

Norm:<br>If your dump goes up correctly there a good change the problem is not the cylinder. If you have bent a cylinder you would most likely never get it all the way down.<br>I don't know the specifics of your system but a lot of dumping units only power the cylinders up and let gravity bring it back down so just the weight of the load and restrictions on oil flow out of the cylinders determine the way the dump will lower. <br>There may be something binding in the dump system or a flow restriction in the hoses to that cylinder. It sounds like you may have a pressure relief valve that is stuck open. There is a spring loaded valve that opens to allows the oil to return to the tank when a set pressure is reached. A piece of trash in the valve or a broken spring can cause the valve to stay open all the time. The relief is often on one end of the bank of control valves. Most often there is a cap over the spring that can be removed (with the pump stopped). You should be able to check the spring and look in to see the valve seat.<br>good Luck

Sounds like a worthwhile project. I could donate a chapter on places to get stuck. I seem to have found most of them, not just tractors but backhoes and bulldozers as well.

I have had a TC21D for about a month and am very pleased with the product. I did not get a loader with the tractor due to cash flow, but the dealer is coming today to pick it up to add the loader. The layout and operation of this machine is great. I looked at the same units your are considering and decided on the NH. <br>One item to note, the 21D does not have the deluxe 3 pt like the 25D which I think is an excellant feature. Also the NH literature lists the 21D as having 3 speed ranges, the same as the 25D but it only has 2. Before I got mine the dealer only had a 25D and a gear 21, so I was looking for that mid range that's not there. The high and low seem to be more than adequate. <br>I borrowed a back blade from my brother-in-law (a real farmer). He said he would let me use the little one. The little one turned out to be a very heavy duty 7' monster. The 21D has know problem dragging this up my drive with a load of gravel,in 2 wheel drive as the front tires are barely on the ground any why.<br>My wife loves this tractor and talks about how quiet it is.<br>Hope this information helps

Steve:<br>I had to make the same choice. I have a NH TC21D with turf tires, I had some real concerns about the other tires after seeing what just driving over the lawn with a backhoe can do. I am not sure what to do for the winter, the cheap route would be chains. The other options is a second set of wheels and some Ag tires. I would like to here from someone who has used chains on turf tires, Even with chains the turf tires seem to wide to provide much traction in snow.<br>Good luck

The tractor was $11,370 for a TC 21D4 with R4 tires and the deluxe 3pt.<br>The midmount mower was $1750.00<br>The Loader (which I not getting now) was $3,400 which seems high to me. I going to look around and see if a Bushhog or some other after market might be more reasonable.
