I disagree, chains can make a world of difference when clearing snow, especially with turf tires. I have a 655 MFWD and turfs w/#51 FEL and I clear sidewalks and some driveways in the winter. Even with the MFWD engaged the tractor could barely move any snow unless I put chains on and it then became a bulldozer compared to no chains, so they do make a difference. It would be easy to find chains for turf tires, just check your local yellow pages or tire dealer perhaps.

When I bought my 4310 last month I got a set of Horst pallet forks. Horst is an attachment company that makes attachments for fel's. They fit the JD 430 quick-attach plate perfectly and they even came in JD green! You can't tell the difference unless you look at the two prices, JD $1000, Horst $700. My dealer is actually a Horst dealer so it worked out.

Actually the plate was pricey at $575 w/ shipping but it is very well made. I have a skid steer and many attachments like a snow blade and a mulch bucket for it so I figured it might come in handy for those two, to be used on both machines. I believe the John Deere forks are $1000, but i got them for $700. So with the plate and the forks for the plate(about $750) I think that you would be better off with the JD forks unless you have a few skid steer implements to use also. I actually ordered the forks before i knew about the adapter so I have a pair just for the tractor now along with the skid steer pair but i guess it can't hurt to have one per machine. Oh yeah I forgot I got the 55 amp alternator too if anyone is intersted.

Yeah it was tied up in on a flatbed for 3.5 weeks!! The dealer got all of the options on in 1 day which was pretty good I thought considering all of them, but I did have "priority" in the shop, what ever that gave me. It all doesn't matter though because it will be mine tomorrow.

I believe that the 4210 is a great tractor but the 4310 would probably be a better choice for you because of your future backhoe purchase. I would also recommend the 4310 because it will have more power and run the ehydro better than the 4210. I too was going to buy the 4210 until my dealer said that the ehydro would take some power away from the overall hp of the tractor and might hinder mowing on grades etc., so i ordered a 4310 instead. You should consider it, epspecially for the backhoe.

Who knew waiting for a piece of machinery could be so hard!! I called the dealer today and they said my 4310 was shipped on monday and on its its way to Connecticut. He said it would take him a week to get it! Then he said that it would probably be about 3 days until delivery. My question is, where is the JD compact factory? I thought it was in Georgia but it can't be if it is going to take a week just to get the tractor to Connecticut. Perhaps I'm just not considering some out of the way stops before Connecticut. The tractor is already 2.5 weeks past his "for sure" delivery date so i'm a little jumpy.

I was flipping through my literature and the john deere website and I found an a front blade attachment for the 430 loader, it was listed with the 4in1 bucket, pallet forks, etc. Has anyone ever seen this blade?Is it hyrdralic angle? Does anyone use one?If so what is the msrp? It sounds like a good tool for snow removal. Thanks for the help

I got a trade value of $4700 for my 4wd 655 with fel and brand new snow plow that cost $1700 new installed and was never used. Oh yeah 350 hrs on machine. I let it go because I couldn't wait to order a new 4310 and the trade sounded pretty good.

I would stay away from this tractor unless the price is fairly low around $3800. 3400 is a lot of hours on an 89. I am guessing this tractor was used as a TLB alot and even if it was well taken care of this kind of operation can be very demanding of tractor this size. If it was 3400 mowing hours that would be a different story because mowing is not as abusive to the machine. You should check the maintance records and look at other equipment this person may own and look at how well he took care of the other equipment as well as the tractor. Be careful

I just ordered a 4310 with midmt pto and I was wondering if I could run both PTO's at the same time, for my rmm and my mmm. I think this might make a nicer cut but for now I will have to wait on the experiment for another week or so.

Ok i have narrowed it down to a standard grade JD mmm, but I cannot decide, 60" or 72". In the JD brochure it says the 4310 tractor is 50 in wide. So on paper this would leave 5" on both sides of the wheels, however I will be getting turf tires. Would the 60" be enough width to be wider than the tires? I will be mowing mostly on a subdivison road and I want the mower to over hang a little because I can't have the tires hanging off the curb to mow the edge of the road. Thank you for your input. The polaris Ranger is the way to go. True 6x6, 40 m.p.h, most clearence, can seat 3. A very well build machine with a very time proven motor.

Definately look for a 4310. I tried both and the 4310 can't be beat for power and price compared with a 4210.

I am close to buying a 4310 but I am not sure which mmm. Is the 7iron suppose to be heavy duty, is it made by JD, does any one have any experience with it?

I was wondering if John Deere has a 3rd line scv that runs to the bucket...for say a 4in1 bucket. My sales person said there was nothing like that but then I saw 4in1's on this site? I was also wondering what the "7Iron" attachments are.Are they JD, or a different brand?

I am very close to pulling the trigger on the 4310 w/ 430 fel,ehydro,4x4,3rd scv, power beyond, 60in belly mower and turf tires. I have a final price of 20,500 with a $4700 deduct on a 655w/fel and plow to be traded in. I was wondering if $4700 was fair for the 655. It is in great shape and it has a loader and a 54in plow that was used one season.It is 4x4 with 350hrs and 80% rubber, it has some minor scrapes and rust. I think the price is good but i am just checking. Thanks
