I owned a B7500 hydro with a loader and belly mower for nearly 3 years. It's a great little tractor. I recently traded up to a B2710 just this past summer, and not to take anything away from the quality of the B7500, but the B2710 seems like twice the tractor.

The only difference between the 2710 and the 2910 is the Hp rating and a few plush creature comforts. Size wise they are identical.

I would suggest to you that you should go ahead and buy the 2910. With 150 hours, it's just barely broke in, and will last you for many years to come. From my own personal experience, the stability characteristics of the 2 tractors seem similar but not identical... the 2710 (2910) seems to be a hair more stable.

One draw back with the B7500 is that when you put a good size implement on the back of it (say a brush hog) without the loader, the front end gets very light and steering control is greatly reduced. For a while I had a backhoe (about 1000 lbs.) on the B7500 and even with the loader attached I could easily pick the front end of the tractor of the ground with just a good heave-ho... made it very difficult to navigate the tractor on uneven, muddy, or sloped ground. I would suggest to you that the few added inches and pounds that the 2910 has over the 7500 will go a long way in stabilizing the tractor. The larger rear tires on the 2910 will greatly increase the smoothness of the ride when your in a really bumpy field as well.

I guess I would rather not spend the money on different tires right now. Besides, for all the different kinds of stuff I do with my tractor the r4's seem to be pretty good for just about any of it. I think they look good too... makes the tractor look more rugged than turfs... anyways, I guess I will just keep my eye open for a good seat somewhere. Northern has a few, maybe I will check them out... or maybe I should just trade the whole tractor in on a new 2910 with a good suspension seat... probably not.

Foghorn, I own a B7500 hydro and feel confident that I could do everything with it that you describe you would like to do. Yes, it is a small tractor, but I think it's a more capable unit than just an oversized lawn tractor. Actually, I think Kubota sells the same 6.5' backhoe for the 7500 and the 2710 while offering a 6.5' or a 7.5' for the 2910. I am not going to argue that it might take a bit longer to do the same amount of work with a smaller tractor, that's pretty much common sense... but in my humble opinion, the b7500 gives you a pretty good bang for your buck....

On the other hand, I seriously doubt I would have ever regretted buying a bigger tractor... not that I have ever actually needed a bigger tractor, but if I had bought one I would not be sitting around wondering if I should have bought the smaller one, whereas these days I sometimes wonder If bigger might be better. The only drawback I can see in buying a bigger one is not being able to mow some of the tighter areas of the yard.

My opinion? If I could afford it, I would probably go with the 2910. It's really a nice sized tractor that's not too awful big for mowing, but yet is big enough to handle a little bit bigger implements than the 7500. And If I couldn't afford it, I'd go with the biggest size tractor I could afford and be confident that whatever size it was, it would do the job. That's my 2 cents.

Wow... I never knew you could run tires at that low of air pressure... 7 - 10 psi. I have been running my B7500 with R4 treads at like 30 psi in the front, and lord knows what in the rear... rides like a haywagon. The only way I could change the pressure in the rear tires is to take them off and tilt them so the calcium goes below the valve stem... but it might be worth doing to get a little better ride. I wonder if anyone knows if there's an aftermarket seat with some more spring to it that would fit my tractor. My dad just bought a NH TC33... it has like 4" of travel on the seat suspension... nice and cushy... It would be nice if a guy didn't have to buy a tractor twice as big as the one he's got just to get a cushy seat. I reckon I'd need a few more inches of room below my seat on my tractor to install something like that. Let me know if you guys know of anything. thanks.

Hey, while you're on the subject of pto pumps... do you think that a pto pump designed to run a backhoe attachment at 540 rpm would withstand the abuse of being ran at say 750 or 800 rpms? I built a logslitter last spring for my tractor and now I need a pump... buying a replacement pump for one of kubota's backhoes looks to be the cheapest way out but they only run 9 gpm or so... I would like to have about 12gpm. That would be easy to obtain by putting the pto selector switch on 1000 rpm and adjusting the throttle to obtain the required rpm.

It's not so much that I am concerned about price Peters... it just seemed that 10 bucks should get a guy a pretty good filter. Truth be known, I would rather spend the few extra peso's and have the better one. I imagine that it doesn't matter too much though, how good a filter you have, if you are changing your oil every 100 hours... factory reccommended filters will surely do the job... looking at it this way, I don't suppose there is anything wrong with the little white filter they gave me.

Jim is right in saying that you get a few more perks with a 2410 over a 7500. 3 extra hp, a few more gpm in the hydraulics, postition control, and don't forget that the 7500 has a manual shutoff knob, while the 2410 starts and stops with just the turn of a key. I am not sure how much difference the extra 3 hp makes on tractors that size, at least with regards to ground engaging implements, i.e. boxscrapers, rakes, etc. I have heaard this said before, and I can attest to it, my 7500 always seems to run out of traction before it runs out of hp. Would I have chosen the 2410 over the 7500 had I not been on a budget? Sure. But I WAS on a budget, so ended up with the 7500. A decision I have not yet regretted at least to this point. I spent $14,000 plus tax for my 7500 HSD with FEL, and 54" belly mower. I don't know how much they socked me for the mower deck, so i can't help you with a price on just the tractor and loader. I also got the R4 industrial treads with calcium in the rear. If I recall, they wanted up near $17,000 for a 2410 similarly equipped. At any rate, they are both wonderful machines. Happy hunting!

My 2 cents:

If you want to keep the ROPS the same hieght for safety concerns, it might pay to cut the ROPS and fabricate the parts necessary to make it into a folder. You could do this yourself if you have the tools for nearly nothing, or you could pay a few bucks and have a welding shop do it for you.

As far as plowing or tilling is concerned, I would have to go with the rototiller idea. I don't know a whole lot about plows or plowing, but those little rototillers really do a nice job. When I break new ground for a garden for someone they usually are amazed at how loose the soil is after I am done. I usully go over new unbroken soil 4 or 5 times with a rototiller, but when I am done it's ready for planting.

The 790 really seems like alot of tractor for the money. At least horsepower wise. If that's the size tractor you need and it fits your budget, I wouldn't fret too much about the ROPS. Either modify it to fold, or cut a couple inches off the sucker and pay closer attention to the tightness of your sphincter.

Rich, I own a little B7500, and I am able to do with it just about everything you describe you want to do with a 2710... It would only stand to reason that a 2710 would also do all of these things but with greater speed. I live just a bit south of the snow belt here in western pa, but my drive is about 1/3 the length of yours, and for that size the loader works fine... up around 300' I would guess a person might want a blower or plow. Kubota has a very nice front mount snow blower for the B series tractors, but they run around 3k. You can get a 3 pt hitch blower for less.

You said you had your eye on a 2710 hydro with belly mower... in my opinion, the belly mower is the way to go. Seems easier to mow in tight areas with one than a rear mount. Although lots of folks swear by thier rear decks. IF the tractor doesn't have a loader I would suggest adding one... it's the most expensive wheel barrow you will ever buy, but it's worth it. You might even TRY moving snow with it a few times before you purchase a blower or plow, you might decide that it works well enough for your situation. And like MD said, the rear blade/loader combo works pretty well for now removal. And you won't ever regret getting a hydrostatic tractor either... they are so smooth to operate especially for loader work. Hope I was of some help.

OK... got the sale papers right in front of me this time, so I won't be misleading anyone. IN september of 2000 I spent an even $14,000 (plus tax) for a B7500 HSD with LA 272 loader and 54" belly mower.

I am not sure if you HAVE to clean the screens every time, but it doesn't hurt. On my B7500 HST the filter on the right side cannot be taken off without removing the strainer, so I reckon I'll clean it every time. Changed the filter once now, and the screen had nothing in it at all.

I just wanted to say that I can attest to the towing ability of those big dodge trucks with the 6 cyl cummins in them. Two summers ago I was completely redoing the landscaping around my home, and I needed a Dozer. Well, it just so happens that my dad owns a "little" Dresser Bulldozer. I asked If I could borrow it, and of course he said yes, except that my brother and I would have to go pick it up at the jobsite. I figured we'd go out to my dad's and pick up the Western Star Dump Truck and go get it... nope... My brother showed up in his new dodge dually and a 25,000 gross goosneck. I thought for sure we'd go to jail or wreck or something, but we made the 10 or so miles from the job to my house without incident. The dozer weighs in around 18,000 and the trailer around 4500... We loaded the dozer towards the front of the trailer until the overload (helper) springs just started to touch. Just before you get to my house, there is a fair sized hill about 3/4 mile long that we turned up from a dead stop at the bottom... we topped the hill at 40 mph... not too shabby. Of course I wouldn't recommend to anyone that they should so grossly overload thier truck just to see what it can do... tow ratings are there to keep people safe.

Sorry this reply is a few days late, I have been wrapped up in my own dilemmas lateley. If the noise you're hearing is a wierd sounding whine like something out of a sci-fi flick, that's normal. It took me a while to get used to the "new" sound of my B7500's hydro. I actually kind of like it. It's "neat." And congratulations on your new purchase. I have the same tractor with a 54" belly mower, R4 treads, and FEL, and I love it. Up around 170 hrs to date, and no complaints whatsoever... except maybe not having enough room to play with it.

You guys are gonna think I'm crazy, but I have been doing a little more thinking... scary huh? Anyways, I have been fretting about numbers lately, wondering if a 17 gpm pump would run the tractor too hard and bogg it down too much, then I started figuring some numbers using murf's last post. Murf, your 4" ram produces 25,133 lbs of force at 2000psi. I compare that number to what a 5" cylinder can produce at 1500psi, about 29,452 lbs. These numbers fill my heart with joy. Reason? I mentioned earlier in this thread that for every 1hp of drive, 1 gpm at 1500 psi can be achieved. This means that I can run a 5" ram at 1500 psi off of a 16 - 17 gpm pump without bogging the engine, and still have about 4000lbs more splitting force than your splitter. And if your splitter has enough power for you it most likely has enough for me. I guess what I am getting at is that I would probably never need to build much more than 1500 psi, but if I did, the engine bog would probably not be severe. SO... I finally got a setup I am confident will work...

I built a 8kw generator for my 27hp Kubota. I used a triple belt system. Wanted to run PTO at 540 but found that the large pulley would need to be about 36" diameter. I recalculated and run PTO on high speed (1000rpm). Pulley is about 19" diameter. Whats interesting is that I sold the Kubota yesterday and looking for a new tractor with a loader. However I am finding that many tractors no longer have the 1000rpm PTO.

Hello Dennis, what exactly is a 4-n-1 bucket. Haven't looked it up anywhere
yet but see it mentioned quite often on this site. How would this be run,
(by the bucket uni-control or would it require a new valve assembly? Would
appreciate any information. I own a 440 loader on a 1070 and would like to
add a grapple fork to the bucket. Am woudering if I will need additional
valves. Have a back hoe with propper plumbing to operate the hoe. Or will

Does anyone know if JD lists attachments for the "70" series on the net. I have purchased a 1070 with a 440 loader/backhoe and would like to purchase a pallet fork. Before I can no longer purchase attachments. My JD dealer in North Dakota, as recently as last week, told me JD did not manufacture a pallet fork for the quick tach 440 loader. Have recently been in Wisconsin and the dealer there found a fork in Canada, its even green. Apparently a subcontractor in Canada manufactured this loader for them. Does anyone know the name of this company (WEB address) and if they are the manufacture of the 8B backhole or is it WOODS?<br>Could someone tell me the difference between the 8, 8A, and 8B backhoes and if the buckets are interchangable?<br>While reading the owners manual I cam across the attachment list. And on the list was a log splitter. Would this mean that JD also contracted some company to build this and paint it green?<br>Planning on using the 3 point log splitter to split the wood then stack the wood on pallets (so I only have to move the split wood once manually) and fork the pallets to a location for storage in the winter months. <br>Since this machine came with a backhoe does it mean that an additional valve,(can't think of the valves'name off hand), has been installed with the control lever.<br>The reason why I am asking these questions is that I purchased the 1070 5 months ago. At present my work does not allow me to go home with exception of 2 weeks per year so am looking forward to inspecting my investment over the Christmas holiday. I wanted a dependable tractor that I could get on and go, that I would not need to work on with exception of normal maintenance. <br>If I wanted to install a 3rd valve, how hard and expensive would it be. May want to put a grapple fork on the bucket and will need a 3rd valve/lever to operate it. Since I purchased this 1070 in North Dakota, could I expect that JD has winterized coolant system to -40 below at factory?<br>Any information would be welcomed!<br>Duane Volk North Dakota
