Hi Imfedup, I do appreciate your response and suggestions. I apologize for the delay in responding, i had trouble with my heart. We think we located the problem in the power steering control valve. The relief spring and ball was out of place and may have been blocking the return port. We disconnect the two lines and looped them together, ran the tractor and pump did not get any hotter. I will let you know how it turns out.

Can someone explain to me how to set the tapered pin on the steering linkage at the front of the tractor. I have replaced everything including the pump, hoses and ram. I have got the tractor to turn but the power steering pump overheats within 5 minutes of running; so hot you cannot put yor hand on it. I checked that the hoses were on correctly and not blocked, adjusted the small actuator rod on the ram. ANY help would be appreciated. <br>

Sorry for the delay in responding but do to medical prob ( it’s a bitch to get old) my trouble with my steering is the pump overheats in just a matter of minutes. I replaced the pump, hose’s, ram and other parts in the steering. I know there have been problems wit steering on the MF 235 Could the adjustment on the Ram be causing this.

Hi I just purchase a 165 with a loader and would like a little help with the controls, like the little black knob by my right foot. Also there is a lot of free play in the clutch pedal, although it shifts into gear ok, should I adjust to the 3/4 - 1� like other tractors? Thanks for any help

Another member posted that your tractor uses the same motor as a 1300 ford. I got my service manual from E Bay for my SD2600.

A diesel tractor needs two things to run:fresh diesel fuel and compression. When you crank it does it smoke from the exhaust stack? It should be, if it is not have you checked the fuel filter? If the filter is good loosen one of the injector lines and crank it till fuel comes out of the line, it may be air locked up.

Not sure of what you have there, but all tractors have separate engine oil and transmission/hydraulic system oil. I have an SD2600 and the dip stick for the trans is located in the floor board by the stick shift, you also need to trace the hyd. lines to the rear and find the trans filter, which on mine is washable. Hope that helps a little.

Hi I agree with Candoarms that an overhead service is a good first step. If that reduces the amount of smoke great, but if it still smokes I wound not pull the injectors not quite yet. You stated that it cleans up at 1200rpm and if the power is good with no miss I would continue to add some commercial injector cleaner or dump a couple of quarts of Type "F" auto trans fluid in the fuel tank. Run it for a couple of tanks and see if that does not help. Remember keep your RPM where it should be, don't lug the motor it builds up carbon. Good luck

Hi Mike, I have a SD2600 which also has a glass fuel bowl, I am not sure if they are the same but NAPA was able to match up my old one (NAPA #3507). To change, shut off fuel valve at the tank, loosed the ring on the top of the glass bowl. If you do not have a spaner wrench use something blunt to tap the ring to unscrew it. Clean out the bowl with a clean shop rag, do not loose the spring, change the filter, install the new gasket and reinstall the glass bowl. Turn the fuel back on and open the bleeder screw on the top of the fuel filter. My model has a hand pump on the injector pump to help prime the system, when the fuel comes out of the bleeder screw tighten it and start the tractor and check for leaks. Hope this helps. Gary

Thanks for the reply, no there is no bubbles in the radiator or pressure buildup if you hold your hand over the neck. I drained the oil and there was no sign of water in the oil. I have a ford 1710 shop manual and with the exception of a few control items the drive train appears to be the same. Kubota diesel uses a hollow pin in the head for the oil feed to the head and if you forget to put an "O" ring on the pin it will leak oil, and I was wondering if the Shibaura uses the same method of oil feed. I has got to be in the pressure loop to push oil into the water.
