I have a chance to buy a used New Holland TC33D. It is a '99, Industrial tires, Super Steer, Rear worklight, 2 hydraulic hookups installed in back, rear wheel weights and front weights, 726 hours, new front tires and battery. Basically out of warranty, only 3 months left on powertrain.. It looks clean and sound. It is at a dealer. Asking $13,000. Initial negotiations have gotten it down to $12,000. Dealer has a new "Old" blue loader we can put on, wants $3,450 for it. So we are talking $15,450 at this point. I have also negotiated, at a different dealer, a price for a new TC33D, of $13, 955 for same tractor, sans Supersteer, $900 for supersteer, $3,200 for loader. So we are talking $18,055. That is a difference of $2,605. I sure do like that new blue, but money talks? What does anyone think?<br>

I am shopping for a Tractor/Loader/Mower combo. I haven't narrowed it beyond Deere, New Holland and possibly Kubota, but I prefer the more contemporary looks and ergonomics of Deere and New Holland. I own 10 acres of land I will be building on soon. I will need to finish mow appx. 3-3 1/2 acres, push snow and do various loader work. Maybe mow the balance of the land as a pasture if I stop having it planted. My wife will probably do alot of the mowing as she enjoys it and came from a farm as a young person. We think we want a mid-mount-mower. My question is, "Which of these three brands is easiest to install and remove the MMM and while were at it, what about ease of installation and removal of front-end-loaders? Thank you for your opinions. It seems like I have been on the verge of buying a tractor for 8 months now, but I am not on the land yet, but I also keep having just one more issue to resolve in order to make a decision! I HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUY A 2000 NH TC25D W/ 914A 60" MID-MOUNT MOWER, 7308 FEL, SS, TURF TIRES W/ 120 HOURS. PRICE IS $15,900. WHAT DOES ANYONE THINK? SEEMS LIKE A VERY GOOD DEAL TO ME. I bought 10 acres of flat land recently. Will be building there in a year or two. Farmer can plant land for now and I will make $1,000 per year. But, I want to have my land for myself to go visit and play with it and start to organize tree lines and wind blocks and some outlying landscaping. If I don't plant it, I have to maintain it according to the covenants in this pseudo community. Therefore, I must buy a tractor. Considering a JD4100. Don't really expect much more than mowing grass (3-4 acres) and pasture (balance of 10 acres) and pushing snow. Maybe a little dirt leveling to plant grass.
1. Am I crazy for wanting to enjoy my land? My wife thinks we shouldn't spend this money yet.
2. Is JD4100 sufficient?
3. Thinking of 60" belly mower for lawn, do I have to get brush hog for pasture. Not heavy stuff in pasture at all. What is benefit of a finishing mower?
4. I think I prefer Turf tires, any thoughts?

Thanks for the info. Ted. Actually I do have some particulars. Land is fairly flat, but with a little roll to it. I live in Indiana and where I am is composed of mostly clay soil. We do have respectable snow fall, but occasionally it is sparse. We love to landscape, so I suppose we will use the tractor for that purpose occasionally. I suppose I can create my own budget, within reason. I am somewhat surprised how expensive this whole proposition is. What do most of these small landowners do for a living? Am I getting in over my head?
I have only looked at John Deere so far. I have heard about the various problems with the 4000 series, but don't all makes have problems here and there? I drive a Durango R/T and it has been no problem, but others complain about them all the time. I also here Ford Trucks are great, but I also here they have transmission problems. So isn't it a matter of the luck of the draw. As long as you are working with a respectable brand to begin with?
Anyway, if I like the JD4100, what would the comparable compacts be in Kubota and New Holland? And, if I am not spending a lifetime on the tractor, I don't really need more machine do I?

I had a 950 with the same symptoms. JD dealer checked out the starter, it was OK. I finally tracked it to a "+" battery cable that was worn where it passed through a hole in some sheet metal where there was no protective grommet. It was apparently a part-time short, because replacing the cable fixed the problem.

Sorry it's taken a while to respond. There was a side cover I had to remove on the trans (R.side) to access the filter, just about directly under the brake pedals. I first had to drain the trans (which is the hyd reservoir) so you would want to do it in conjunction with a fluid change. The filter looks like the old cartridge types, open on the sides. I am assuming, of course, that the 1050 has the same arrangement.

Couldn't you just lime the turf to control the Ph? It would seem that the turf building effect of the mulch would be a positive effect.

Thanks. It is a two blade cutter. I left work and found the problem. Under the top shroud is a shear pin (grade 2 bolt). I replaced that, and we were up and mowing.

I use one on a 16 hp Kubota, and it works very well. AS already mentioned, keep the cutters sharp and free of debris.

I have an older B7100 w/Kubota loader. I recently noticed that with a good load on the front (I have rear wheel weights, but had no implement mounted) the rear wheels wobbled as though there was excessive slop between the axles and the wheels. Is this
