Tractor smart lists 2 different filters that is causing some confusion here. Spin on trans filter and then a hyd/trans filter. My tractor has two hyd/trans filters on both sides of the tractor just under the seat. They look identical. The manual shows this same location.
Is there a third filter for this tractor that I am not seeing? This is my first servicing of this tractor and just want to be sure I am understanding this.

There are two hydraulic filters for the tractor. The hydro/trans filter and the hydraulic system filter. The trans filter is on the hydro case, and the new one will probably be blue. The threads for the two filters are different, so don't worry about getting them on the wrong stem. If you aren't sure, have the dealer mark the boxes when you buy them. You need to replace them both if you are doing your 50 hr service, and don't forget to clean the strainer. ....

I have 49.4 Hrs. on my BX 23
It's time for the 50 hr service.
Is changing the fluid in the transmission and the engine the only fluids I need to change ?
What about the hydraulic fluid for the loader and the back hoe etc?
About how much can I expect to spend for fluid, oil and filters? ....

My RTV has the same basic transmission as the B7800. It has no screen to clean. I was told the second filter takes the place of the intake screen. On my machine, one filter is orange and the other is yellow.
LBrown: look at the maintenance schedule in your owners manual and do everything that is checked for 50 hours. You will need 2 quarts of engine oil and five gallons of fluid for the hydraulic system. The backhoe, loader and transmission all use the same sump.
The filters will be about $20 and if you use Super UDT, its about $8 a gallon. ....

The 7800 has a screen on the transmission, not sure about the BX Series. Make sure you clean it at your 50 hr service if you have one. You will probably find filings on the screen. The procedure is outlined in the owners manual. It is located behind the hydraulic filter on the gearcase.
By changing both filters for the trans and hydraulic system, and replacing the hydraulic oil, you have taken care of the fluids and filters for all the tractor integral hydraulic systems, including the transmission and auxiliary hydraulics. Engine oil is the only other fluid you need to change for the 50 hr. Some people like to change the front axle case oil, but it isn't necesary.
Have fun. ....

Oh, the 7800 only holds 3.75 gallons of hydraulic fluid. Check your specs for the right capacity for your tractor. It also takes five quarts of engine oil. All the capacities are on the yellow sheet in your manual. ....
