I have had some problems restaring my JD4500 after it has benn running for a while. I was working it for a couple of hours this afternoon pulling a cultivator then a york rake. Stopped for about 5 min. and when i went to restart it it would not start. It turns over fine, battery is real strong. I waited for about 20 minutes then it started right up. Worked a while longer. Shut it down for about 45 minutes, the same thing happend. I also had this happen for a third time as well today. after it wouldnt start the third time, I turned the keyswitch to the left before turning it to the start position and it started right up. Anyone have any advice? Was it a coinsidence that it started after turning the key to the left?
The worst part of the whole thing is it happend in front of my wife who really didnt want me to buy the tractor!!
Any advice would be appreciated.
MIKE

My 4300 had the same problem. Upon reading the manual JD advises to run the tractor at about 1/3 throttle for a minuite or so before turning off. I leave the throttle at about 1500 rpm and just switch off. I have been doing this and have not had any more problems restarting (same as your problem - turns over fine but seems like there is no fuel - I could crank until the battery gave out). The problem was worst when it was cold and I had turned off the engine after the tractor has at its slowest idle. ....
