Assuming I am looking at brands that are fairly similar like NH,JD and Kubota.
1.comfort and ergonomics
2.caliber of local dealer
3.value not price (bang for the buck) ....

Grinder, you nailed the top 3 in the right order in my opinion. Then the ergonomics, dealer, and purchase value. If it is not realiable and does not hold up (poor quality; it is not a good deal at any price. For when you need dealer support (and they all do at one point or another) service is also very important. ....

1) Durability (which I think includes quality)
2) Functionality (capability to do the jobs it's intended to do, ease of use)
