I'm looking to add some implements to my tractor. I'm not going to be using the implements everyday or anything like that. They will be for personal use and maybe to help out a neighbor or relative. When buying implements that I plan on using a lot or taking them to the limit, I have purchased Woods and Befco as they seem to be heavier than say implements from Tractor Supply. I was thinking about a tiller and post hole digger. I defintely want to buy as I hate to rent, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with the less expensive implements? I hate to spend the extra money on something that I won't use frequently but don't want the implement to break after a few uses. Experiences anyone?

I would stay away from any and all mass merchants impliments, oils and antifreeze. Woods makes good quality stuff, don't know anythig about Befco. The size of your machine will determine how good an impliment you will need. For example: If you have a 85 horse 4x4 with remotes and a hydraulic top link, you will need a damn good box blade... on the other hand a 35 horse 2 wheel drive could get by with much lighter impliments. Tillers you say...Just find out what kind of tiller the mass merchant sold last year or the year before and then try to get a set of tines or bearings for the machine....See what happens then.... I would stick with a dealer, not a mass merchant.. thanks virg ....

If you can mix and match up parts many of the lower end brands get sold or discontinued and parts become a problem Many times if you are saavy with parts you can track down another part from another brand and get by.

The big boys will continue to make parts for what works. You are more likely to find parts 10 years from now from woods, landpride, JD, kombota, (FordnHcase) or whatever it is at the moment. ....

I purchased a King Kutter II, 60" tiller from TSC about 4 years ago.
Price was around $1050, tills excellant, no problems so far and any and all parts are easy to get through TSC or order through the King Kutter web site and have them mailed to your front door.

I have had very good experience with Land Pride products. They seem to keep good quality control. ....
