Does anyone know of a part # from Napa, Advance, or Autozone that will replace the fan belt on my tractor (the old raggedy one broke while bushhogging and on the weekend around here going to the tractor dealer is out of the question). any help appreciated- Thanks,Shawn....

I would suggest taking the broken belt if you have it to the local auto parts store and have them size match it to a belt they have in stock. With a few exceptions, a belt is a belt and it should work fine. Probably a lot cheaper too. If you don' have or lost the belt; about the only thing you can do in a pinch is to run a length of rope through the pulleys on your tractor and mark the length and take that to your local auto parts store. If you are fairly accurate, that should be close enough for them to size a belt that will work with some reasonable slack for adjustment. Then, later when you have time, buy the specified belt for a spare or use the replacement belt, but ALWAYS have a spare. I ALWAYS take spare belts, air, tools, fuel, etc. on the job with me because a broken belt or mechanical problem can ruin the entire day if you have to stop for parts vs. fix it on the spot. ....

Hope you got it working by now. You should be able to find a belt the right length at a box store but sometimes they are too wide--at least that's what happened for my riding mower. I'd check both the hardware and the automotive sections. Small engine shops also have a supply of belts that tend to be a different selection than the box store ones.
Still almost anything will work temporarily even if it does ride too high on the pulley. If it's too narrow will just ride on its side in the pulleys. Old panty hose are sometimes used. Come to think of it, the brakes my '36 Olds hotrod used to lock up when it had been driven awhile. Adjusting the master cylinder linkage was the solution. I joked about using the brakes as an excuse to park when on dates (I was a kid once). Arranging for a fan belt to brake as well might have been an interesting idea.
