Can any one tell me if this is an OK deal?
1999 Kubota L3300/ 4x4 /2 way rear Gannon Box/Loader/rear mower/ 32hp/1800hrs. This tractor was used at a rental place. Do you know what the average life span of this tractor is before major repairs are commonly needed?

When people rent tools, how do they take care of them? Everyone is different and I would move with caution depending on price because there should be well over three times the life left of the hours used. Another way to look at is it might be like having 2500 or 3000 hours on it. To get 6000 hours on one is just reaching the peak. ....

Did I miss the price ? To buy a rental unit in my view you have to get a damn good price. Like Art said you know rental stuff gets the snot beat out of it. I would not hesitate to buy if you know for a fact that the rental shop has their own mechanic/maintenace program. Others things I would consider , are you buying direct from the rental shop or a third party. Is the shop clean, or a pit. There is more to consider on a rental unit other than hours and price. You have to look at the whole picture. You could have an engine ready for overhaul in 3k hours or sooner if abused and the same that is well taken care of could easily last twice as long. Dave ....

I believe the L3300 manufactured from 1997 to 1998. Here are the specs:

No. Cylinders: 3
Displ. Cu. In.: 100
No. Speeds: 8F-2R
H.P.: 28.00
Approx Shipping Weight (lbs): 2690

This is for the L3300DT 4WD

Being that it is a rental unit. I would be EXTREMELY warey of this tractor. I would think this unlikely but if you can take it somewhere to have a 50 service done on it or do it yourself; this will tell you volumes about this tractor. If it has recently been serviced, I would pass. (might be trying to hide something)

Normally the tractor would be worth around $11,500 or there abouts. In this case since it is a rental......... I would not pay over $7500 for the entire shootin' match. Even then you are taking a HUGE risk in that if this tractor has been abused; (and you can bet it has) it could end up costing you thousands to repair right. This is not to say that this tractor is not in great condition as it may be. If this tractor is in good shape; it would make economic sense for the owner to continue to keep it in service and earn rental money. At a certain point, rental businesses move this type of equipment out because it starts to cost them too much money in maintenance and repair costs. Better him than you. Just remember to let the buyer beware. Also consider closely what condition the impliments are in; same thing applies to them. ....

Another thought on rentals, some times they are rented to a place over a long peiod of time. I'm refering to a rental that might be like a month or two or maybe for the summer. These are normally nice units that have the same operators and have a good Knowledgeable facility to service the unit. Just a potential for a good rental unit. ....
