I believe slip clutches are to be put on the implement, brush cutter, tiller, are such. ....

Plots1 is correct the slip clutch does not go on the tractor PTO. It goes on the implement. ....

o.k. now we know where the slip clutch goes. need a overrunning pto coupler for the 4210 pto 1-3/8 "6" spline shaft ???? nothing at TSC must have a push pin connection on the coupler because, no hole in the spline shaft. ....

Over-running clutches were mostly found on older geared tractors that had transmission driven PTO's. Most newer tractors with TX driven PTO's have internal over-running clutches. I bleieve that is generally true at least since the mid-80's and maybe earlier. My midd-80's Ford has live pto so it's not an issue but the standard non-synchronized TX does have an internal clutch.
If the tractor has HST or live PTO, or if it does have a TX driven PTO and internal clutch then an external clutch probably is not an issue. The use of one also would defeat any PTO brake present.

TomG,
My Kioti DK has independant PTO. Independant PTO's also have a PTO brake.
I installed an over-running clutch to save wear on the PTO brake when shutting down implements(mostly my 6' brush mower).
The over-running clutch lets the mower rachet to a stop instead of the brake trying to stop it quickly.

Yep very true. From all I've heard I think I'd find most pto brakes extraordinarily aggravating and defeating one (safety issues aside) sure would be tempting. Of course, a person should keep in mind that they'd likely be defeating any insurance at the same time.
Seems like more time should have been put into engineering the things. After all, how safe is a safety feature so unfriendly that people are inclined to disable it? I suppose the safest tractor of all might be one with no moving parts. One would be great for a driveway ornament.
The link below shows such an ornament at a near by crafts gallery. I think it is a McCormick-Deering and I'm reasonably certain there are no moving parts there.

Wolbert, I know what you have done and why, I just wouldn't have done it knowing you just added another moving part to fail. I've seen more of these failed then the pto brakes. ....

Art,
I felt the over-running clutch was worth a try.
Once my warrenty runs out I do all my own maitainance and the longer I can make the PTO brake last before needing replaced the happier I will be !!
If the over-running clutch doen't work out I can just take it off and run without it,so far so good !

OK, all this talk about PTO brakes brings up a question. My JD 4610 eHydro has a PTO brake (according to the OM). When I disengage the PTO, after using the brush cutter, the cutter will slowly spin down. So if the cutter spins down, where does the PTO brake come in? ....

AHHHHHH!!!!! The PTO BRAKE. These are truely a pain. I know why they are there BUTTTTTTTT!
On my 4400 JD I ease the pto lever into the run position and bring the throttle up. shutting down I throttle back to idle, here is where you will see your over running clutch at work especially with brush cutter. I then ease the pto lever out of the run position and bring back to the edge of the brake position and finish letting the cutter spin down before bringing the lever into the lock position. I do not think I have missed this procedure with brush cutter yet. But my hat came off under a low branch when I was mowing the lawn. I was on the clutch, brakes and pto all at same time and pto when from full speed to lock in an intant you outta heard the belts squeak then...
Hope this helps. It works for me.

A little on PTO shaft adapters and slip clutches that are added onto the shafts. They are not meant for permanent use. They are a weak link often egg shaping the mated shafts for more aggrivation later. They also will break,or bend causing other failures. If at all possible find a permenant fix. ....

Not that I would advocate defeating safety devices, BUT...
A landscaper friend of mine has a machine that has (had) a PTO brake system on it, at first he thought it was a REAL pain in the patooty, especially considereing how often the PTO starts and stops in a commercial day.
However after a VERY short time the system failed, when the dealer asked if he wanted it 'fixed' he replied, "Why would I, it finally works right!"
Best of luck. ....
