I have been browsing this site for the last couple of months, and must say that it has been a great help in my tractor buying considerations. Now that I have got my TC33D, I'm ready to try posting here.
I have a NH 451 sickle-bar mower that I would like to attach to this tractor. These mowers were probably the standard to which others were compared in their heyday (no pun intended), for their ability to flop down into ditches and mow embankments, as well as mow fields of hay.
But, attaching and adjusting them is looks anything but intuitive. I have a manual, but not for this year machine, and there have been some changes.
My question is - has anyone here attached this mower to a TC33D? If so, was it necessary to cut the ends off the stabilizer adjustment rods (about 4 inches). As this will be an irreversible move, I don't want to do it if I don't have to. Or can I accomplish the same by adjusting the lift cable length?
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but my question is specific to the TC33-29D's

I attached a 501 to my 1720 tractor. Had some issues, but it worked. Send me an email if I can help any. Are you having a problem attaching the clamp to the left 3pt arm?
(Well, couldn't put my email in here, so there goes that idea. Don't visit here often, so don't know if I'll be much help.)

Sounds like a deal. In this case Rambler put his e-mail on his profile so it is available.
The script for this site doesn't allow 'at' characters in message bodies. For that matter apostrophe ( ' ) characters in message titles cause the pop-up reply window to balk. Anybody who says something won't work in the title won't get any replies through the pop-up reply window. ....

Tom,
I think I fixed the apostrophe in message subject titles yesterday for pop up window replies. I did not know it was broken until I read some email message notifications that I could not find on the Tractorpoint site, ooops!

Hi, Rambler. Thanks for getting back to me. The 501 is a Ford, correct? I haven't seen one, but I think it is probably a bit different from my NH 451.
I got mine hooked up and working. It was a devil to adjust, even with the help of an old manual. My TC33D must be a little lower and more "crowded" on the back end than the smaller farm tractors this mower would have been used with.
You refer to a clamp on the left 3pth arm. On my mower there is just the a pin to mount into the ball on the end of the 3pth, and there is a separate large inverted-U shaped "stabilizer" bracket that mounts to the tractor at the top-link point. It is impossible to describe how it works to raise or lower the mower blade, and even if I get around to sending a picture, that might not help too much.
I have seen some other mowers that have an extended arm that pries against the bottom of one or the other of the 3pth arms ahead of the pin in the ball to raise the blade. Does that sound like your 501?
