I have become interested in smoking meat, but when I look on the internet for information I go into overload. I don't want to do this for a living, but I do want to slow cook some ribs and beef occasionally.
Brinkman seems to have quite a few. I looks at some models at Cabellas in Kansas City a year ago. Any advice??

AC; Cabelas also has a few that are more expensive but nice units. The real trick to smokeing is to avoid direct heat. When I was a kid we used to convert a old refrigerator for smoking salmon by cleaning out the guts and pipeing the smoke through stove pipeing into the fridge. ....

AC5ZO, seriously speaking, I don't know much about smokers, but the guys at work who are big into deer hunting seem to pretty much go with the Brinkman smokers. Seemed like somebody was always bring smoked venison to work for the office to try. When I asked how they prepared it, almost all said they used the Brinkman. Not sure if it is that good or that was the only model available in the PX. ....
