Can't feature trying to move a bucket full of gravel up a 450 foot driveway at 0.7 mph ....

I lost the brochures, but I think by the time you ante up for decent horsepower and pitch in a few implements they are comparably priced with a new compact tractor. IE: $12 to $15 K ....

My brother in law has one and he likes it. It burned up a while back and was totaled by the Insurance Company, but he bought the carcass from the Insurance Company and rebuilt it. It is not fast, but he has some very steep slopes in Georgia and it seems to negotiate them. I think that the fire was vandalism and not a fault with the tractor.
There is a JD Crawler with Backhoe arm that is seriously stuck on the property and four or five people have given up trying to extract it. He may have to use the Magnatrak to bury the JD. :-}

The new magnatrac 7000 will do 3.5mph. How fast do you need to go while really working? The Magnatrac will out work a Bobcat in my book because you have implements on both ends of the machine. Often times I'm wanting to multi task a couple jobs while in the area. Can't grade a road and then immediately mow the edges with a Bobcat but you can with a Magnatrac. And a tractor just won't dig like a Magnatrac will.
Another thing to consider about a Magnatrac is that it is light enough to haul by yourself to the jobsite. I had to haul a 9000# Bobcat halfway across Texas this weekend and it was no picnic even with my 3/4 Ton diesel truck. I think it would be difficult to order a Magnatrac that weighs more than 4700#, and that's with a backhoe attachment, front loader and an ice chest full of Lone Star beer.
I'm ordering one soon for clearing brush and cedar from my ranch, as well as fixing roads. I've had it with flat tires and spinning wheels, or the bumpy ride of a skid steer. I should have ordered one last year. ....

I ran a 865 bobcat/tracs I think it was like 76hp. Had a dozer blade on it. Could not move crap! Loose soil yes but anything that was not broke yet it did not have the weight. Dirt and gravel moves tough when it is not already loose. Bottom line if you dont have the weight and the pony's under the hood you wont move much. That muchine dont have the wieght or the hp to do a whole lot. ....

I hope you have rented one and tried it out for your jobs you plan to use it on. I highly dought your going to grade much road with that light a machine. That bobcat with tracks would have a better chance. I would run one before I put money down on it. Anything with a Briggs engine cant be much. ....

Bobcat's are designed to move loose dirt on top of the ground. A Magnatrac is designed to dig dirt.
I've spoken extensively with owners and the technical guys at Struck. All it takes is watching a couple of their videos to see the machine can dig dirt and rock.
I can assure you, the Bobcat T-190 track model I rented last weekend would have met with your approval. But it was sorely lacking in my book on a number if issues when stacked up against a big Magnatrac.
It isn't a machine weight issue. I'm not trying to D-9 everything. I don't need to in order to do the work I need done. If a lousy Bobcat will do what it does, I have no worry that a Magnatrac will do what I want if for. ....

I had to look up the website to see what you guys were talking about (Magnatrac). I've seen them on Ebay before. In the videos they appear to push quite well. I think their visual advantage is that they are so narrow, only 40" wide and the bucket/blade is about the same. That's only about a meter. The bucket only handles 10 cu. ft. The typical skidsteer has a bucket about 2 ft wider and would require much more HP and weight. They would probably work fine for small jobs.

FWIW, I've seen some machines that look very similar to the magnatrac being used for freeway work down here in So Cal.
Thye're being used on the steep slopes between the freeway and the homes up on hills to either side. I think they are used because they are small and narrow, making them ideal for working in these areas, where a full width road could not be created to get around on these slopes. They seem to require little more room widthwise than what would be required for ATVs and the like.
I've also seen some of those towable backhoes (2 wheels and pull themselves around with the bucket like those kits) being used for street utility work. I imagine for tight areas where a full sized backhoe can't be used. ....

of $13k at this time. That is with a $2000.00
discount. The six-way blade kit is another $2800.00
Then their is the shipping cost. They look nice, but
with a weight 2375 lbs - in my soil I can do more
with my Kubota 3410 with a FEL,backblade, and tiller

with free delivery at this time. It weighs 6600 lbs,
has the six way blade included and free shipping. I
would feel this is a better buy for probably 1 to 2 K
less. That is unless you really need a 2000lb dozer.

I'm sure a Magnatrac is 'not for everyone', but I hardly doubt that they are 'not for anyone', as some of these postings are trying to imply. The dozer from Northern is communist Chinese, and I'm not buying anything more expensive than a Dollar Store item that comes from there, if I can help it. A Magnatrac 7000 is multi-purpose and I guarantee it will out dig a tractor just for starters. Personally, I plan to keep my Kubota, too. I got plenty of room for equipment. ....

as far as the northern bulldozer being made in
China. I could care less. I am 50 and wont live
long enough to let it bother me. If you ever buy 'knock
off' parts for ANYTHING - I will guarentee you they are probaly made
in China or North Korea.
knock-off parts are replacement parts that are not
made by the original manufacturer of the unit.
I am sure the Magnatrac has very legitimate uses, but
if you need to move 100 to 200 yards of gravel in a
day you cant do it. I like my Komatsu D-20-A. It works
and works and works, has 40hp and weighs about 9000lb.

Are we debating US-Chinese policy or the usefulness of a magnatrac7000? I don't JUST need a dozer. That is why I'm big on what Magnatrac has. It isn't like I want to build the Great Wall or re-grade Tiananmen Square. If so, I'd buy a couple monster machines and have my employees do the work for me. ....
