I was at a nearby dealer checking out the BX2200 (it was the first time I drove one) and he mentioned something about a smaller BX (I think he called it a BX1550), which will be available with 48" and 54" decks and FEL. Thats all he knew, except he said it would sell for ~10k w/MMM or ~12k w/FEL. Has anybody heard about this? Any specs available?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

I just happen to be on the Carver site yesterday and they now have some information available. Try the link below. That's the first place I've found anything about it.

I have noticed there are some real deals out there on BX1800. Never understood why they made that one and then another with 4 more horses. Anyway, it might be that the BX 1500 is taking the place of the 1800 in the lineup. Might be a good time to make a deal on an 18 horse BX. ....

The BX1500 is also significant for having Kubota;s new-design, direct injection small diesel engine. This design in various forms will eventually replace many of the Super mini engines whose design dates back to the early 1980's. Kubota has published a Society of Automotive Engineer's technical paper on the new design. It is paper number 2001-01-1810. One can buy it by download, fax, or regular mail from the SAE web site. The German company Hatz also has a new direct-injection small diesel coming out. It has an innovative aluminum engine block. It will be interesting to see if this new engine makes inroads into the grounds maintenance market.

Mark, I think they were figureing that more people would want to save the 300. They found that even making it 500 was not quite enough. Kubota has always made smaller horsepower compacts like the 4200 which is discontinued at this time. The problem for me is I like a small tractor and a big deck to make trimming a breeze and with the same size tractor and that small deck it would make it hard for me to recommend it. I did recommend the 1800 size to several people as it will run a 60" deck without trouble but they even at the 500 dollar difference took the 2200. ....
