Well, it’s like Desi used to say to Lucy…… Someone spilled the beans out of the cat bag. I was cruising John Deere’s web site when I found it. Yup, there it was, banner news headline, (Drum roll please), JD has discovered synthetic oil.
Well, ok, almost. They are announcing a new product that is a semi-synthetic or a blend, but the real news is that good old conservative Deere is saying that this is the oil of choice for any diesel made by anyone and the bee’s knees (as my mother in law used to say) for JD engines that run on natural gas. And here’s the real kicker…. They are recommending that if you use the new oil that you can extend the oil change interval by 50 percent. Oh My! Land Sakes! And Sh-T Like That There! (I was born in Minnesota, so I have a right to end sentences like that.)
And their tests show 40 percent less engine wear, even with the extended drain intervals. I may swoon. Ok. I’ll be cereal now. Check out the web link and look at what they say and the pictures of the pistons with no sludge build-up, and the stats about viscosity retention, and the –40 pour point and the high temperature stability, etc.
Who knows? Maybe in another 40 years they will stumble upon, dare I say it (?), Full Synthetic Oil. Whoops. There goes that damn cat again. LUCY …. !!!!!!

Time well spent I think. Now you know from a major manufacturer of all kinds of equiptment that with proper maintenence and the right lubricants you can add thousands of trouble free operating hours to your engine. I do understand how you feel. I broke my humorous once, right at the elbow joint, but it eventually healed and is quite flexible now. ....
