The local Country General stores are having going out of business sales. Is this just a local thing or are people in the other parts of the country seeing this as well? I've heard that it is a national chain, but only know that it is a common chain store in the rural West. They have some amazingly low closeout prices on tractor part and pieces. Dimes on the dollar. What make me think of chain stores was the tractor chain discussion we are having. Down at Country General last weekend I bought new chains for the JD (12.4x36) for a ridiculous price. In fact , these new chains cost me less than the price of piecing together my last set from second hand chains. Sometimes you just get lucky.

I read somewhere recently that Tractor Supply Company is buying out a competing chain of stores. They are going to reopen them as TSC stores. Maybe County General is the victim? ....

Last summer in Ontario, one hardware chain bought out another hardware chain. There were some mildly good deals on some of the bought out chain's house brand tools, but no serious bargains. Too bad, but I suspect real good deals means really going out of business.

A couple of years back, I ran across a Coop store in a small Ontario town. I think it might be THE COOP. I was kind of fun shopping there. I remember when feelings were still running high in the late '50's. I'd be riding around Nebraska with my cousin. I'd swear he'd rather have run out of gas than go to someplace that wasn't coop. That was sort of fun too, but then we were both kids.

This is a real shame as they had bought up other chains. I think that they were trying to corner the market like HomeDepot and Lowes have done.
They had Quality with the used and remanufactured tractor parts.
The web site is below. ....
